You outdid yourself on this one! Wow. I can't begin to tell you how enormously HELPFUL this was! I have one of these and rarely use my big oven anymore, but you gave me so many more ideas for the Oster. I don't like to under-utilize my appliances. The big oven is mostly used to store cookware nowadays.

*I like that I can "fry" something on a whim! An oil fryer takes so much more time to clean and prepare **MyBest.Kitchen** a chore which usually kept me from frying all together. Also, the lack of needing oil to fry means that my family and I are eating healthier... while still enjoying the crispiness of fried foods.*

I use my air fryer to make my son's frozen personal pizza. Takes 6 minutes on 400° f. Much better than microwaving it, and they totally need anything that will make them taste better. He's 9. Great review of this device. My toaster is dying and I want to have less on my counter top. Thanks.

I got mine but it wasn’t crisping food no matter what I did for Christmas mine had the wing option not dehydrate but I love the concept they did replace it for me waiting for replacement I tried all different suggestions and everything but decided to call last week was mainly seeing who else had an issue with it not browning and crisping on air fry setting
Can’t wait to try the new one when it arrives and hopefully have a good experience

I bought this air fryer oven because of the many features on it. Have had it about 7-8 months. Love so far. I saw a presentation of this somewhere, and they said the gap between the doors is designed on purpose to let air escape (vent). It does take up space but you can do so much with it. It can take many sizes of pans and you do not have to flip the items that you are air frying. Easy clean up.

Excellent review. Got mine at Costco for $150, on sale. Mine does NOT have a gap between the doors, but others who posted videos seem to a bit of a gap. As far as the cooking features, I've only had it going now for 3 days, and I've tried to cook as much as possible to give it a good "run through". So far, I am ABSOLUTELY IMPRESSED..!! I cook toast on the suggested level 4. PERFECT TOAST..!! I cooked the wedge potatoes (using raw I cut myself, little olive oil, and the Knorr brand Onion Soup Mix on top). WOW.......excellent. I have not used Pizza feature yet, that's tomorrow. The convection mode is AWESOME. Cooked butterfly shrimp tonight. Perfect. French fries on air fry.......perfect also. So far, this has exceeded my expectations. Thank you for the review. You were right on the money as far as my experience so far. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS OVEN. Great price. Skip the Emeril Lagasse stuff, I've had the XL and the newer, larger models, and they electronics both failed within 2 months. Was really disappointed in them. We've had a Hamilton Beach Convection oven for 12 years now, and we still use it. This machine just cooks things faster, and without as much prep.

Note: the instruction 'booklet' specifically says not to put foil on the bottom on top of the crumb tray because the reflection of the heat from the bottom rod will be uneven.

Got it and love it. Toaster function works great. 1/2 bagel frozen on 5. Italian bread on 4. Defrosted a frozen salmon in pastry dinner on 200* baking and reheated on 250. Perfect. Wiped off the coils before using and baked under an exhaust fan to get rid of odor and it did it fast. Going to make brownies next when I get my new 18/10 pan. Love that it is on my counter so I don’t have to ask my husband to put pans in the double oven as I can’t reach them.. it made no noise on turbo, didn’t get hot on the outside, did not have much heat escaping from between the doors. Love.the track on the grill shelf that holds the pan underneath to catch the drippings. So clever. So well thought of. Got all the bugs out and is easy to use. Love that when I open the doors to check the foods temp, the heat automatically shuts off so I don’t get burned. Turns back on when I closed the doors. So happy I watched your review.. thanks

There's a slight learning curve but it's not too bad so don't be afraid to use it. I had never used a toaster oven or a convection oven before so I juat play around with the temps and time until I get it right. You can also write down exactly what you cooked, the temp, and how long it took in a nopepad or even your phone and have a quick reference for next time.

I agree, it is kind of overwhelming because there are so many functions and they don't provide very good information as to cook times for each function. What a great video review! I just got mine from Costco yesterday ($149.99 until 12/29/21) and I brought in two of my bread pans to make sure they would fit and that there was plenty of room for them to brown correctly. I have a much smaller Oster toaster oven and it did bake the bread but I could only fit one loaf pan in sideways and it was so close to the top heating element that it always burned the top crust unless I put aluminum foil on halfway through baking. This is my second oven and very excited not to have to bend over and take thing out of my Whirlpool range. Costco customer service said that some folks brought the oven back because it was too big for their kitchen space. I did see the specifications online but brought in a tape measure to make sure it would fit on my standard 24" deep countertop. It is about 17" deep but when the french doors are open they extend to 23" but still not past the end of the counter. This is a very usable size and excited to use it very often.

I was looking at this OSTER model for a few years now, when I first saw it at my local COSTCO. I fell in love with the French Door aspect of it. And my Sister couldn't stop teasing me about it.
I had a small air fryer given to me by a co-worker, who decided to go for a larger model. But the handle rotten away. And I couldn't find a basket replacement for it.
I'm still sticking with my OSTER Countertop Convection Oven. Over six years later, and it still performs like a champ. I just purchased a baking pan with rack set recently. And that combo has been giving the oven an air-frying capability.

Tky for the video. It helped so much. I used foil to prevent really awful cleanups even though the meager directions said not to. It worked fine and made clean up for chicken wings much easier. I don't want to think of the burned on mess that I would have dealt with if I hadn't covered the crumb pan with foil. I rubbed avocado oil over the air fryer grill before adding the chicken wings, and it helped clean up. There is a steep learning curve, but so far, everything I have tried has come out edible.

Never had a oven that would cook both pizzas even. I cook them at 450 for 15 minutes, then I reverse the racks and cook till almost black because that is how I like my pizza. Usually takes about 25 minutes but I get a more even cooking result by switching them half way. I think the only perfect portable ovens I have used have been the 30 amp version, which most homes don't have a 30 amp plug for a convection oven. Plus I like them cause they go higher than a regular oven. I like Pizza hut thin and they cook their pizza at 700 degrees but I know the owner and looked at the plug it is a 50 amp.

Elite has a non-digital model that has the rotisserie. The fans do not do much. You have to hold a feather up to the fan to see if it actually blows air. It is the same setup and about the same size as the oaster. Look at the position of the fan. On both models they are on the right side, so the right side of pizzas are crisper than the other.

BTW it's 'Oast-er' like 'coast', not aw-ster like Costco. I've been collecting blenders since the sixties when the Oster family still owned the company. I have the $400 Breville Smart Oven with the air fryer function. I virtually never use it--why? Too hard to clean, particularly with food with crumbs. O ster... The Big O on the label says it all, lived a mile away from the original Oster office in Whitefish bay Wisconsin years back. I have had the original non air fry version for about 4 years now. It's excellent but they should have worked on a soft close by now. Once and a while it will snap close on you and you could get burned in the action. Nothing breaks which is a good thing but they should do better. Things don't spill down onto a glass which is a huge plus. Inside width is 15 and 1/2 inches which is important for baking pans. Honestly nobody out there really makes what I would be looking for in a toaster oven. Porcelain coated like a "Real" oven would come to mind as the inside finish of these ovens today becomes less then desirable a year or two later. Just some thoughts.

And I guess with the doors, a lady talked to me about it at the store who bought it and said the gap between the doors doesn’t happen immediately but with more use. maybe that’s why you and I both do not have that problem and hopefully it doesn’t happen for us. Hi Mack, I don't know how I missed this video. TH-cam is really flaky with notifications. Thank you so very much for the shout out. Greatly is appreciated! I'm pretty sure two pizzas could be cooked in the Maxx at the same time because it has five different levels for food to be cooked on. I do love the rotisserie on the Maxx. They have a newer version called the Maxx Grill which looks really nice because they have a steak tray that sits on top of the bottom heating elements to cook steaks and other items at 500°. The Oster air fryer oven does look pretty decent though. When cooking wings with the Oster I would recommend putting the bake pan in the rack at the bottom just below where you had the wings. That way it will catch any drippings and they don't go under your heating elements. All in all looks great though.

You make good videos and really it's where I first saw the Kalorik so you deserve a shout out, more people need to see your content. Like I said in the video, I was sold on the Kalorik until I ran across the Oster and honestly, I almost passed up because it *didn't* have the rotisserie. It sounds similar to the Ninja Foodi 15 in 1 I saw on QVC for the last week that has a searing plate that sits on top of the bottom heating element. Great review! It helped answer some questions for me. I was paying attention to how you use foil in it.
We just bought the model before this one. The only difference I can see is that we have to turn knobs instead of pushing buttons.
The worst thing we have cooked in it are hamburgers. Used the air fryer and the cooking chart in the owners manual. It splattered all over the inside and also on the heating bars. Took a while to clean. I don't think I hurt the machine by using a combination of hot water, dawn soap and white vinegar. Will say this combo worked great on the glass french doors. Last night we sliced up some russet potatoes and air fried them and they turned out great.
Does anyone know of a great website for recipes using this machine? We have been looking all over the internet and most websites are for the basket fryer and the ones that have an oven similar to this one does not have much more than a review. Would really like to know how others are keeping their machines clean.

I've been a little hesitant because while it has lots of features, I don't want to compromise the results of my traditional air fryer. That's the main function I'm likely to use. Anyone who has one of these or similar, do you feel it does as good a job as the regular style of air fryer? I don't know if I have any of the raw video left because I had one of my hard drives crash and lost a ton of already posted videos and many videos I made that had not been edited and uploaded yet.... a real bummer. I'll look and see if I have the original footage and if I do, I'll make a shorter video showing the times and temps I used. Although I haven't made many more videos with it, I'll include that information in the future. Bwtween this air fryer oven and my Blackstone indoor griddle, about the only thing I use my stove/oven for are some things that just have to cooked in a pot. I appreciate the concern about using aluminum foil in the oven although it's not a fire hazard since aluminum foil doesn't melt or catch fire until above 1220°. The manual says using it can cause overheating of the oven and while it does seem odd that a single sheet of foil laying on the bottom would make any difference, I don't want to take any chances so I won't be using it anymore. Good points! I've gotten a little better with figuring out which setting to use. Yes the outside does get very hot! Even with that I find that it doesn't really have an issue making the areas around it too hot. When it's sitting on my kitchen cabinet it doesn't make the back or side wall or the cabinets above it very hot so there's no issue with that. One side benefit is that you can sit something on top and use it as a warming tray.

It might be pronounced “ohster “ as opposed to ahster. An Oast is an ancient oven hence the terms toast or toaster incorporating the original word.

It has become my second favorite kitchen appliance next to my Blackstone E-Series griddle. I actually made the video about a month ago and have used it a lot since then and would highly recommend it as long as you have the space to put it. Btw, QVC also has them in the additional colors of black and red. Thanks for watching!

Very good review and explanation of what you cooked. All looked like the are done well.
How hot does the top get? Can you put a baked or grilled etc on top for a few min to keep warm??
I am a widow and heating the regular oven seems silly for the very small servings I do. I ordered this to use in place of the large oven.
    Thanks.

Thank you. The top does get pretty hot and although I haven't tried to, I think it would be good to keep food warm. I completely agree about the regular oven, I live alone also and almost never use it anymore.

Did you notice a loud popping noise when heating up or cooling down? I assume it's the metal inside expanding and contracting but notice a few reviews complaining about it. Deciding between this and the Cuisinart @ Costco.

It does make the popping noise sometimes and I agree it's just the metal expanding and contracting. It seems to do it more sometimes than others although I haven't found any connection between the popping and the different settings. I don't personally find it much of big deal and after the first time I used it and it happened, I really don't pay much attention to it. I can't comment on the Cuisinart since I've never used it but have been 100% happy with the Oster.

May I ask, I saw you used foil on very bottom of oven for some stuff and the you had foil in pan for enchiladas. Did it all work fine? Directions recommended not to use foil. I just got mine. Outstanding video. Following

Thank you. I've been using foil in it for over a year now without any issues, both on the crumb tray for easier cleanup and over some foods when necessary.

I noticed that the videos towards the end show aluminum foil over the crumb tray. Is that just for easier cleanup or is there another benefit? Thank you for explaining the preheat. I was wondering why it seems to stay on 'Pre" forever, I didn't know that the beep meant that it is up to the correct temperature.

I do use it to make cleanup easier. The manuel does say to not use foil in the oven because it can cause it to overheat. There is a lot of metal inside the oven already so I'm not really sure how a thin sheet of foil would make any difference but I have been using foil in it for a very long time without any problems.

I noticed you used the same baking pan are you able to use other baking dishes. Also, when you open the door the timer kept counting down. You had lined the bottom tray with foil but you said that under the bottom tray the heating elements are very hot. Would that be a concern for the foil might catch fire?

    • @AllAmericanMack
      @AllAmericanMack  3 ปีที่แล้ว

I don't see any reason why other baking pans wouldn't work as long as they fit. The timer will still run with the doors open unless you pause or cancel it. The manual says not to use foil in the oven because it could cause the oven to overheat although I can't see any reason why a thin piece of foil would make any difference. Aluminum foil doesn't catch fire until above 1200° so I don't think that shouldn't be a problem and during some of my cooking the foil on the bottom was touching the heating element and it didn't even melt. It's worth mentioning that I was using Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil because I've used cheaper, thinner brands ( like from Dollar Tree ) that have melted onto food.

I lined it with silicone mat cut to size. Works great, reusable, easy to clean.
