For those that want to know more. To my mind it's great and well worth the $149.00 I paid for it at Target. I bought it 2 weeks ago and haven't used my my GE Spectra XL44 gas oven since . I have baked , airfried and roasted and variety of foods and it has worked perfectly, to my mind.
Costco has the XL (Model GTF7698) on sale for $100 November 2024. It's a bigger and slower air fryer, but it's basically a convection oven, which is nice for me, because my kitchen is very hard to keep cool during the summer, so now I can take this oven outside and bake bread, roast vegetables or make pizzas, etc, without heating up the kitchen. I do the same with my sous vide, slow cooker, induction plate and small air fryer, to go along with the gas grill, gas burner and smokers outside. It also makes for a great extra oven for big dinners like Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.
I got one today, set it up and reheated leftovers for dinner. Like you said it takes a bit longer to heat things to temperature but that’s not a major thing. I think this oven will function fine for me.
My mom bought one and she loves using it I remember she made some chicken and it had taste so good and honestly it taste better than it being in all grease tbh
Bought this at Costco the other day. It's huge! Make sure you've counter space. I've never used an air fryer before, so this "spray with oil" is new to me
There is a smaller version at wally mart. $80. Seems identical in function and appearance as this one. Logic tells me takes less time to pre heat and cook. Probably not significant, tho.
We also LOVE this air fryer. Wished it had an inside light. Also would like to see the cooking tray have a better finish as I find it stained very quickly and its impossible to clean to my standard. I have a question wondering if the Preheat stage could be avoided if you were to continue cooking but it had just ended the previous cycle.
I actually put my stuff in while it is preheating but if it's already hot and you start a new one over then it starts without any preheat time frame... unless you wait and it cools down
The filament (the thing that gets hot) if extremally small for the space it has to heat up. Takes forever compared to my 8 qt. The 8qt filament is about the size of a large stove burner in a much smaller space. A lot more heat, quicker.
We just got this and pleased with it EXCEPT it leaves a mess when taking air fryer food out- which is the tray we used most. What am I missing g? I'm literally waiting for the video to show me taking food out on this tray without leaving crumbs everywhere. Any ideas?
Bought ours right before Christmas on sale @Wally. We use it a lot, and really like it. I wish I could find a nonstick baking pan for it...for now we just wrap it in foil as it's hard to keep clean. Great review!
@@reidsfabric #16 "Do not cover the crumb tray or any part of the oven with metal foil"; It doesn't say anything about the bake tray. I thought I read a recipe in their book about using foil on the bake sheet for something. Seemed like a contradiction to #16 safeguards.
Does the crumb pan go under the heating element? When I used the basket as directed, a couple of drips caused the heating element to flame a little, which cannot be normal. Right?
@@mkgoza86 there is a Chrumb tray beneath the heating element. That came installed there. The heating element is designed to withstand small oil drips.
@@ChefDawg Are the few drips supposed to flame when they strike the heating element? There was fire and smoke. Should I place the bake pan on the rack below the basket rack when air frying to keep the drips from hitting the element?
Thanks for video. Gourmia needs a FAQ page, for sure. The manual is functional but very basic. Keep in mind, this is a multi-function unit. Combo traditional toaster oven, dehydrator, and air fryer. Also, probably a good idea to protect grease/whatever from dripping on bottom heating elements. Probably a good idea to use tin foil on roasting tray (the solid one), unless you want to clean every time. Took me 20 minutes to clean baked/on bbq sauce. FAQ 1) Should I remove roasting tray when air frying? If I do remove roasting tray, what keeps grease from dripping on heating elements? Logic tells me roasting tray should always protect heating elements. 2) Is the warning about foil only referring to permanent use on crumb tray? If I can't use foil on roasting tray, to minimize clean up, this baby is going in the dumper! 3) Does the solid roasting tray interfere with air dryer function and increase cooking times. 4)Can I use the LA Times as a substitute for parchment paper?
We keep our solid tray stationary on the bottom rack with some aluminum foil covering it. We don’t notice any significant effect on cooking. Because you are blocking the bottom heating element, the bottom of the food won’t cook as much as the top would. I believe Gourmia’s problem with papers and foil is related to airflow and making sure the bottom element doesn’t overheat, causing it to break.
I just bought a smaller one. This appears to be a very weird design to me with the heating element. Somebody says that it’s so hot it will burn off stuff even if things drip on it. Blocking it with the baking tray seems to be blocking a whole lot. It almost is better off having design some cover just for the heating element. That way the air isn’t blocked by the whole tray.
Similar to your toast, I made bacon 🥓 and while it doesn’t *Look* brown and crispy, it did taste it. So that may just be how it is. It’s cooked or toasted but not brown.
I live in a small town in Oklahoma we don't have a Costco all we have is Walmart and Lowe's they don't have this extra large one but I thought about getting the regular size for $50 but someone says there's a gap between the door I bet you lose a lot of heat I don't know may I have a couple hours before it goes off sale I take care of my father I thought this might be something I can buy for his house and a lot easier to cook things for him but I don't know thank you for the video
How do you use this to reheat food? Mine that I just purchased at Costco doesn't have a REHEAT button and I would like to use this is place of my microwave. Thanks!
@@ChefDawg thank you! So is it my understanding then that the reheat function (if applicable) on any convection oven air fryer is still not going to function as quickly as a microwave? There is always a preheat period and nothing that just starts heating automatically??
@meganmarsolek2931 Yes, Air Fryer ovens work almost the same as convection ovens. They take time to preheat the oven to the desired temperature. During the beginning of the preheating process, only the top and bottom heating elements kick on to preheat to the desired Air-Frying/Bake etc. temperature then will kick on the fans to air fry.

I put the food in as soon as I turn it on... then I just keep my eye on what I'm cooking. It heats up almost immediately but takes forever for the thing to tell you to put the food in.
I plugged mine in just got it out the box and set it up and mine started smoking… is there a reason it did that? Maybe I forgot to remove something? I’m not sure I’m reading the Manuel and it doesn’t give me a reason as to why it would do that. It looks like I set it up properly

Now tap + or - on the temperature select or time depending on how you want your food. Then tap "start" located on the bottom right. Now the air fryer will pre-heat, wait till it says food in then your timer will count down.

What air fryer did you use to have that heated up
Immediately?
We had a Cuisinart air fryer
Yes Cuisinart is good
If you wanted to cook wings in french fries at the same time where would all the juice from the wings drip onto?
You can keep the solid tray in there, it may affect the airflow.
@@ChefDawg yeah I was thinking about putting the wings on the solid metal tray in the fries on the mesh one. Then wrapping that bottom tray and foil for easier cleanup
I hate the pre heat function when setting on air fryer (my previous airfryers didn't need it) , so I looked it up online and it says theres a preheat button you can cancel, but there is none. The manual has no reference anywhere about canceling the pre heat, does anyone know? I really like everything else on it except the pre heat function on the air fryer mode, on the fence of returning.
Because the oven is so big it takes a bit to warm up. Don't let it bug you too much.😂
After my first chicken, the 2 bottom bar lights are so dirty, how can i clean it?
You were supposed to put the rack underneath to catch the drippings lol
How do I use it to make hard boiled eggs
Just use your stove
Can it bake a 2 layer cake ?
Never tried... but let me know
Thanks a million!
Yep
Do you like it as an oven? Not considering air fryer
Yes...I use it for smaller stuff instead of my oven
How can we set the time?
Good question, go to your air fryer and tap the gourmia logo located at the bottom, select your bake presence, then the temperature will show at the top, and below is the time. Now tap + or - on the temperature select or time depending on how you want your food. Then tap "start" located on the bottom right. Now the air fryer will pre-heat, wait till it says food in then your timer will count down.
I bought the Gourmia XL air fryer and this is my first air fryer. My question is this. Can I use parchment paper instead of alum foil? or is there something else that you would recommend?
Many Thanks,
Sam
We use aluminum foil because it's cheaper than parchment paper. And I don't know if the paper touches the heating coil above if it would catch fire
The manual says no foil but to use parchment paper
It caught fire when i used parchment paper as it touched heating coil. Be careful
Like how to made explaining simple 👍
Glad it helped
I didn't get a recipe book, it's digital
I plugged it in and it sounds like the fan is constantly blowing. Anyone else have this problem?
That's what ours does it's to cool it down after your done using it
It turns off just gotta wait for it.
The sister to this oven is $59 on Amazon and Walmart
Not the XL size at Walmart for this XL one listed for $225.55
@@johnb248 That deal was several months ago. I think it was a model they were discontinuing. Got mine. Works great.
Is that infrared heating? Also, in Canada it's $200. I just bought it.
I'm not 100%, but I want to say it's infrared. There's a glass tub that heats up
@@ChefDawg I wrote the company and they said, "No we don't use infared." It looks like they can't spell either. LOL
Just bought it today and it was on sale $160 if you saved the receipt go to costumer service and they will give you $40 back
@@mbrucaj It's currently priced at $140, not $160. (I'm in Canada too). Even if you didn't save the receipt, you can still get a refund because Costco has your purchase history on their records by scanning your membership card. Receipts aren't required for refunds at Costco.
@@mbrucaj THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! If it wasn't for you I would not have found this out. I went back to Costco and there were no more of these ovens left to compare prices. I just went to customer services and told them it went on sale and I got $70 back!!! You Rock!!!
Best video ❤
@@me-ow7018 Thank you!
I would really to get an inside Grill grilled hamburgers and like to make pancakes and sausage and bacon I'm not sure what to get😂
We have a Presto electric skillet that we use to cook pancakes and bacon, for the rest we use pans
How did it toast at a 6 without opening the door???
I must be missing something?... you don't open the door when toasting
4:33 you are counting the shelves with the door open.
02:43 If you take that bottom tray out, you're going to get drippings from whatever food you're cooking and it's going to stain the bottom of the oven.
They do have a tray below the bottom heating element that would catch the drippings without that uper tray.
How hot does the outside get
Not hot enough to burn your fingers, but it does get uncomfortably warm
It takes a while. 😮
@@csj2640 compared with smaller ones for sure.
Question how big of a ham can this air fryer can handle
I'd say a fairly decent size
@@ChefDawg how many pounds could it handle in a half spiral cut ham
How is honestly holding up for you? I didnt like seeing that error when you were reviewing.
It's been great... no error since
have you try cooking bacon in it?
Not yet but it would work great I'm sure
@@ChefDawg are you allowed to put Tin foil on the tray? i have Gourmia air fryer also.
If you're putting tin foil on the baking sheet tray I would say you're fine. We do with ours and it's worked fine
I removed the speaker - our dog was not a fan of the loud beeps.
Mine switched to Celsius does anyone know how to switch it back ?
Did you find out?
@@apartmentexpress7128 yeah I did thank you 🙏🏾
If this had a rotisserie function, I'd be all over it.
Thank you so much for doing a "7 minute demonstration". Some demos are soooooo long...you lose interest....
Looks messy -smokey?
it's not smokey
9/24/2023 same price on sale again
I just ordered this and now I regret. No light, dangerously hot, to catching drip tray, cooks slower.
I ordered it for its size and to dehydrate. I think I will return to walmart.
That is too bad... we use ours all the time
As of 09-11-2024, Walmart lists them on their website at $89.00.
That is for a smaller model than this one. The one Walmart sells can fit a 12" pizza, this one at Costco fits a 15" pizza.
This one $89 contains only 6 slices . This air fry got 13 slices , twice as much
@@BinhNguyen-zn8ce Big one $40 off at Costco for $99.
so basically its a toaster overn
Very similar... cooks a lot quicker. Users convection heating. We use ours all the time.
Just bought this today….i hate it. Air escapes the doors, the glass gets so hot I burnt myself. 😢 so much heat escapes it takes forever. Nah.
We love ours... it is used all the time. I'd say give it a chance before you take it back.
@@ChefDawg thanks for the reply. We could visibly see the heat escaping…and it took twice as long to cook. The hot glass for me is just not a safe feature. I’ll try and give it another go but when I burnt myself, the hubby about threw it in the snow bank lol
It’s nice but cleaning isn’t fun
That comes with everything 😂
@@ChefDawg fair 🤣 i do have a slight question do you put the drip pan closer to the tray used with food or keep it at the bottom ?
Купил и вернул, корпус греется сильнее чем утюг, на корпусе можно жарить яичницу и мясо!
That'd not good
The temperature of that top surface is enough to turn me off. Maybe that's the price of a cheap unit.
