Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace is a 1999 action-adventure role playing video game released by LucasArts and based on the film of the same title. The game is set in several different settings seen within the film, and contains heavy RPG elements alongside its largely adventurous action-oriented game world. More open-ended than the majority of 3D games at the time, the project was notably innovative for its decade. The game is set during the timeline of the film, with players taking on the role of Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and several other characters from the film. Each playable character has a unique weapon and ability. The game features open environments to explore at the player's leisure, and dozens of non-player characters with unique dialog.
The game was a commercial success, selling over 337,866 copies of the Windows version alone by 2000. The game received praise for its role-playing-style gameplay, appealing graphics, and story, however, criticisms for its camera angles and voice acting were prevalent. (Source: Wikipedia)

This game brings me so much nostalgia from being a kid. I’m early 30s now and it’s surreal to think it’s only 4 hours long. Back when we were kids the game seemed never ending

Same. I died so often in that game. I guess that made the gametime quite long :D But to be honest, my favourite Game was Star Wars Demolition for the PS1. An awful game :D But i loved driving and running around and exploring the Maps. Often, i plugged in a second controller, so i could use the Splitscreen and have no Enemies. Less stress while exploring and roleplaying in my head :D

The Tatooine level to me is the ultimate nostalgia. As soon as we'd arrive at Mos Espa, my brother and I would explore every nook and cranny, every rooftop and back alleyway, to find where we would have our "base". I don't think we would even play the story when we got to this part. We'd just walk around slowly, watching the hustle and bustle of the town, pretending to be one of the people living there.

@@4477superman The Phantom Menace was never a bad film in the slightest, it just delivered a different experience then the original Star Wars film. Star Wars fans went into the movie expecting it to make them feel like a child again when they were all grown up (talk about unfair expectations), and when the movie didn’t do that, they decided it sucked instead of ya know, the fact they weren’t children anymore . Episode I was the first movie I saw in the cinema as a five year old and I fell in love with Star Wars, have loved it ever since .

Agreed, I've always felt for the guy. For me, The Phantom Menace helped change my life. It inspired me to become a CG artist which is what I do now professionally. I loved it all, I thought Lloyd did just fine with his acting. The new slick style was awesome, I loved seeing the shiny ships and brand new saber effects. I had no idea people didn't like the prequels until a few years later. Because of all their petty complaints, George Lucas grew cynical, sold Star Wars, and now we're gifted with objective trash like The Last Jedi. That movie is easily the worst movie I've ever seen.

I’ll never forget this game. It was too nasty when it came out, I think I was 7 at the time; I saw Ep1 in theaters 8 separate times lmao, made my mom & dad take me every chance I could. Then played this game for hours every day with my cousin and friends…. Anybody remember Ep1: Jedi power battles? Where you could play through Ep1 as Plo, Mace, or Adi Gallia too? That game was sick, but so damn hard. Way harder than this one. Like the final level, beating Maul, was literally impossible in Power Battles, more fun in this one, cuz at least you COULD beat it lol. It’s crazy how hard older games were when you go back and try to play them now. Like the simpler the game, the harder it was. Now they all just concentrate on graphics and cinematics, not the actual gameplay.

I remember this game so fondly. It is the first game I ever remember playing. I got a PS1 and this for my 7th birthday, my dad said he would be back in 5 minutes to set it up for me. He came back minutes later and I had set it up by myself and was listening to the PS1 boot up sound for the first time.

Wonderful memories watching this. I remember one time we went on holiday and stayed in a cottage I believe. I took my PS1 with this game and used to play it every morning before anyone wanted to use the TV. I had no memory card at this point so every morning, I repeated the same levels, which was up until the Escape from Theed level. I could never get past this one, would always make it right to the end of the level but would then get destroyed. I kept trying still but no luck.
One day, I learnt of a cheat code which gave you infinite health and allowed you to choose the level I think. So I was back playing it again, each level so many times and having a ton of fun. Mos Espa is such a nice one to explore and figure out all the random quests you can stumble upon. Honestly, really loved this game. Thank you for doing these videos.
