  • We're revisiting the absolute classic that is Star Wars - Episode I: Jedi Power Battles on the PS1. Even if you don't get very far (up to level 3 as a kid..) you're still having a great time slashing and dicing battle droids like no tomorrow. Until you die, and then decide to do it all over again.

They should've keep doing the other episodes and making Jedi Power Battles a saga. Just imagine
Attack of the Clones: Obi Wan, Anakin, Mace Windu, Ki Adi Mundi, Aayla Secura. Secret characters: Jango Fett, Count Dooku, Yoda
Revenge of the Sith: Obi Wan, Anakin, Mace Windu, Kit Fisto, Yoda. Secret characters: Grevious, pre-suit Darth Vader, Darth Sidious.
A New Hope: Luke Skywalker, Ben Kenobi, Han Solo, Chewie, Leia. Secret Characters: Tarkin, Greedo, Darth Vader
Empire Strikes Back: Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Chewie, Leia, Lando. Secret Characters: Boba Fett, Yoda, Darth Vader.
Return of the Jedi: Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Chewie, Leia, Admiral Ackbar. Secret Characters: Lando, Darth Vader, the Emperor.

I wanted more games and levels after the first game. I was hoping theyd let you continue to use the same character as well. More characters would have been amazing from the later films as well as a versus mode. I wouldnt hate a modern remake that ket the originals spirit either.

Since I'm a huge fan of the Phantom menace, I absolutely loved jedi power battles. The game was hard, but it didn't come to us as well as the children in their 90s, as we were used to the higher difficulty. I finished the game several times as a child. most of the time, the game crashed me at the end of the final duel at the abyss with darth maul. I always liked to play for Plo Koon and Darth Maul. it was a beautiful time. That game is fantastic. An excellent system of cover for lasers when a person felt that he had a reflection like a Jedi and can repel bolts like Qui Gon. Tatooine and Darth Maul were seriously challenged

That gigantic death caterpillar at the end of level 2, the gungan general boss on level 7 and any time Darth Maul appeared were the absolute worst for me. And the platforming, the droids shooting you out the sky like they said. Idk if the level 7 boss was that general that appears in the film, not boss Nass, but the other one I forget the name of who’s always like “ahhh Jar Jar!….Who’sa been a naughty boy?” or whatever. The Level 6 thug boss wasn’t so bad, because there’s a trick where you can get his AI to make him kill himself and jump off the roof of the tall building lol.

I mostly played this with a friend of mine back then and as a 2 players game it was fun, even though it was hard and it took us LOT of time to finish. We died hundreds of time against Darth Maul. And in the speeder bikes bit. Hated those. Playing it alone was much worse and much more rage inducing. I'm not sure I've ever beat Maul by myself either. But I still remember it with a smile on my face, it was probably the first Star Wars game I've ever played.

Jedi Power Battles was insanely ahead of it's time. Played for a good 5+ years straight with bro, always trying to get through levels without any damage, it's largely possible except for a few bits here and there. The platforming jumps are the hardest thing, lots of people make the mistake of double jumping straight away, the trick is to jump, reposition then hit the double, it lets you correct the angles.

Just HOW difficult this game is cannot be understated... My brother and I could never make it through the 2nd level over all the years we on/off played this (and we only ever made it as far as the 2nd level ONCE)! That droid boss battle at the end of the first level was wayyyy too much that early on. It's also worth noting that if you ran out of the - already very restricting - lives, you had to start from the very beginning...

This was one of the hardest games I ever played in my childhood, I remember me and my best friend in my basement trying so hard for days to beat this game on co op mode and we just couldn't,I played through it solo one day when my friend wasn't allowed to leave the house but I remember finally beating Darth maul twice, once as obi wan and second as qui Gon and when I did I sprinted down the street and knocked frantically on my friend's door to tell him I conquered the monster alone,he didn't believe me till I did it again after he was allowed to come out

I did beat the game with EVERY character except master Plo, his slow movement made it difficult to best Maul, and my 7 year old brain thought "max combos" instead of "do a one-two until the level is done"

Never did get a chance to beat Maul at the end, that level at Coruscant was hard as hell too

Before we had Dark Souls, we had Jedi Power Battles. Jokes aside, I loved this game and managed to beat it with Obi-Wan after months of off and on playing.

Bunch of lightweights! I beat this game with all 5 characters as a kid. My nephews loved this game too. It was unfair and unforgiving at times, especially that neverending Coruscant level, but I enjoyed it.

@@PlayStationMemories Lol probably more the fact that I sunk so many hours into this game. This game and the Tony Hawk pro skater games were my jam. Anything else, especially first person shooters, I am insanely bad at.
      Great video!

Loved the game when i was a kid, it was hard...but not THAT hard once you get more powers and manage to improve the health and force meters a couple of times, there were even a lot of combos to unlock. I remember finishing it with all the characters (yeah...Amidala and Panaka where a pain) when i was like 12...man, now i want to play it again

after growing up with the PS1 version, I tried the dreamcast version a few months ago and it was MUCH easier to beat cause the platforming was much better to deal with

I had this for both the Playstation and the Dreamcast. I never beat it, primarily because I bought it to play with friends, and unfortunately the platforming segments make the game harder than it has to be. The Dreamcast version especially has a lot of places where you can fall through the level geometry, resulting in a lot of unfair deaths.

Wouldn’t say it’s the hardest Star Wars game ever made. It’s pretty fucking hard mind but I did complete it as a 12 year old

When I was younger, I played this game and Megaman x4. I thought I was bad playing challenging games like this one. But now I see I was wrong... The game is actually hard to beat. Dying a lot remembered me to Dark Souls.
BUT! The best part of the game is the COOP mode. Ahhh I remember these days when were some games that you can play with friends without internet... Instead of now that is always FIFA or another sports game.
