Craig did a great job on this song. Yes, shame they (Edward Bear) didn't last longer than they did, but we are lucky to have good recordings of their work. I have their "greatest hits" CD The Edward Bear Collection.
This takes me back also (not that I ever left the 70’s). 😁🫶🎶 Am guessing you might know the answer to this question .. Edward Bear was from my home town London Ont. yes? Or someone in his band? There was a restaurant that bore his name for a while on Richmond St. if I remember correctly. 🤷♀️👏🤷♀️ I could ask the internet crystal ball but it’s not nearly as charming as real life for c this 70’s kid. 😆💃🏼🎸😁💃🏼
Yes,their music is timeless and always brings back so many memories for me growing up in the country during the late 60s and 70s. The summer days down by the river, riding horses on the farm, riding bikes down the dirt roads, I could go on and on....
An old friend of mine recently passed he loved this song and he left some lyrics on a postcard he made us to remember him Thinking of you down in Mexico feeling free as the Air RIP Mike
Unfortunately, I have never been to Mexico, but I had this song on 45 a long time ago and it is a fantastic song. That is a wonderful video Christine, as I am now going to bed after another long night shift, but I can't stop singing those words, You, Me Down In Mexico :) Good Night !!! Ritchie
I'm thinking about that 45 you had :) It is a fantastic song, and thoughts of You, Me Down in Mexico are warm during this snowy winter we are having now :) Thinking of you, and thanking you Ritchie! ¸*☾´¸.*. Goodnight, Christine

Being from upstate New York, I noticed that a good deal of Canadian singles hit harder here than in other parts of the US (except maybe Detroit) - possible due to the proximity to superstation CKLW. This single was one of them. It was my introduction to Edward Bear and it is still is my favorite. It is their most inventive sounding single mixing equal parts whimsy and melancholy. The arrangement suggests Mexico while staying completely Canadian (no small feat). This should have been a lot bigger here than it was.
JUstin should have hired the legendary Edward Bear instead of Bono for Canada Day. Remember this from 1970, just before Daddy took the Bill of Rights away? It's been a long time since I've even thought of you, It's been a long time since I realized that you weren't there, It's been a long time since I looked at what I'm doing, It's been a long time since I realized I don't really care, Cause I'm thinking of you down in Snowmexico, Feeling free as the air, Here I am stuck in the city, Still going nowhere. It scares me sometimes when I see how I'm held here, It scares me sometimes when I see just how you got away, It seems to work fine leaving all of the trouble, It seems to work fine and I really don't know why I stay, Cause I'm thinking of you down in Snowmexico, Feeling free as the air, Here I am stuck in the city, Still going nowhere. Cause I'm thinking of you down in Snowmexico, Feeling free as the air, Here I am stuck in the city, Still going nowhere.
I love this! Brings back lots of memories as a young girl.
Love Edward Bear! My husband's cousin is Craig Hemming, who was EB's bassist. The band didn't last, but the music is timeless!

I can't really help you, Tara. All I know is that Craig Hemming is my husband's cousin, but they weren't close. Enjoy the music!
@@arlie431 gotcha! Thanks for your reply🥰
