    Thanks for such a great pilot of my deck yet again! It was beyond magnificent!
    I hate that Trinisphere didn't show out for you like it has for me. There is nothing more satisfying than making someone concede to a turn 1 Trinisphere or after wrecking the majority of their mana. Definitely gotten a number of concessions out of it. STOKED to see that Noxious Revival showed out, though!! That card is a beast!
    Edit: So looking back with fresh eyes, that Round 2 Game 1 Trinisphere is definitely why it felt bad lol. I almost never ever keep 1 land hands with this deck no matter how tempting they feel. Learned that the HARD way. Hate it came up for you too.

I don’t know what the likelihood would be of you picking up this deck on your own, and your blue control pedigree has prepared you well to play this kind of deck. Round 5 @ 1:20:50 , i’m confused about the trinisphere - delver interaction. Shouldnt murktide cost 3 mana no matter howmuch you delve?

    • @BoshNRoll
      @BoshNRoll  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Delve, Convoke, and Improvise aren’t cost-reducing mechanics, they’re payment mechanics that are used after the total cost of the spell is locked in. They are the 3 ways to sneak past a trinisphere.

  • @malaven11
    @malaven11 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    in the final round, game 2, discarding both deluges in favor of dark ritual rubbed me the wrong way when it happened, because of the high land count the deck plays. i understand the line you were mapping out, and i may be thinking results-oriented, but i would have held the deluge for the exact type of situation that happened, where they clawed out from under lilli with retrofitter. @1:25:00 for reference

    • @daniellawson9894
      @daniellawson9894 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't really like how the whole turn was played. Casting pox was a 4-2 in favor of the opponent. While it is generally good to be aggressive in resource denial, I think just ending the turn with two duluge in hand (rather than zero), which answers all their threats except retrofitter, and a creature on board, is a lot better than denying the opponent one card.

    • @rossmcbeath4997
      @rossmcbeath4997 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@daniellawson9894 I had the same reaction. I think I would have Lili+1 instead of poxing my own token. And sometimes I would be tempted to not use Lili to hang onto a banger card. Deluge against Ninjas and servos seems pretty strong; I would hesitate to give up both. That said, Brian is trying to put into action his resource denial gameplan, so I see his intentions. It's sort of an art form when to lean in to resource denial, and when to keep some goodies for yourself for later.

      Leaving aside the obvious GY hate applications, just being able to hose the opponents topdeck or set up yours in the very low resource environment that pox seeks to create is quite powerful. Top card manipulation is one of those things that on paper seems pretty meh (memory lapse, hinder, etc.), but when its used well you can really feel the tempo loss and it hurts!

    Obviously having the benefit of hindsight and also the benefit of being a reanimated player in paper I feel that you should have done the sudden edict in response to the first straw seven because while they could have lotus pedal reanimate to bring it right back that would also have zapped their life total down very low and giving you outs an additional options however that is also a very specific sequence of cards whereas drawing 14 cards gives them additional options for reanimating other creatures other than gristle brand with things such as in tomb and faithless looting as well as just the cleanup step discarding the monsters always love the content as always and just my two cents helping with the algorithm!

    I'm really wondering about the cursed scroll, is there no better one mana artifact that can serve as a damage wincon? This deck give me a similar feeling to the root maze stasis deck you played a while ago, and that has a black vise as its wincon I feel like would be good for this deck if the game goes long enough, but then again this is also a discard deck which conflicts with black vise, so Im really wondering what other artifacts are there that can serve in the place of cursed scroll

    • @The_answer42
      @The_answer42 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unless you run 4 loams and an entomb to find them, Cusred Scroll tends to be fantastic. It deals with walkers, stoneforged mystics, tokens, delvers, elves, and it wins games.

    • @BoshNRoll
      @BoshNRoll  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cursed Scroll never got off the ground in this league, but the card is a heater. Black Vise/The Rack effects do exactly one thing well. Scroll can stabilize a board then start winning. It’s the original punishing fire.

It's okay in the BW version with Flagstones, but it's just medium at best, and with Control being as rampant as it is, I don't see it being worth a try. I play it pretty surgically. If a game lines up to let me burn down mana and resources it quickly puts a nail in the coffin. It also just shuts it down outright if I keep building resources of my own, but you have to watch those opening hands pretty hard.
