I am very is assisted living facility in the Philippines. This is a game changer. The Philippines, known for its nurses and English-speaking country beats, any other Southeast Asian countries Hands down.
One of the main reasons why westerners have assisted-care facilities is because we can't afford to pay a nurse (or nurses) to stay at home to take care of us. However, in the Philippines it would cost only $15 - $20 a day to pay a nurse to attend to the needs of an elderly person in their own home. So, I'm not 100% convinced there is a big need for these facilities in the Philippines.
Great point. But if your budget is already $1500 usd month and you add $600 a month for a licensed nurse, now you are at $2100 month, instead of this which is $1070 month. So you have choices now.
True. I owned an assisted living facility with dimensia care. However, you can get to a point where it can be that you are better off in a facility with multiple nureses and staff managing things. Plus socialization and activities are very impotant and you won't get that as much in you own home eventually. What you say about hiring a personal nurse is my plan but I know if I live long enough or get Parkinsons like my mother did I will need more care than that.
@@VagabondAwakeplus outside they aren't Always available when needed though possibly on call. Plus no added services, so it all depends and a bonus as an option for those liking more independence.
Thanks for adding that, especially as a more independent option for others ! That's an awesome deal ! Is that for an hour check up, or what's included ?
It's 7,000 and up. Up, up ,up unfortunately. I've been told to expect as much as 15k for my mom toward the end as her mind declines. That unbelievable given how poorly they pay their staff.
My mother was in an assisted living facility until she died in 2021. She was in the least expensive facility we could find for her and it was $6000/month. That was 2021 prices. No idea what it would cost today.
That's a fantastic price. I'm dealing with this now with my elderly parents, and the prices are 5x to 10x more in the U.S., depending on what an aging person needs (dementia care, round-the-clock assistance, etc.). But my parents would never leave their own city, much less the U.S. They'd sooner go to the moon.
i am not sure i understand completely but if they give room and board and healthcare for about $1200 a month and includes everything it is the best place to stay, i guess insulin would be extra or any drugs would be extra
How independent is the living? Can you go out anytime you want? Can you have a beer? Can you bring a friend back? Is it Western food? I got too many questions?
in the usa or canada they dont care to take care of the old people any more they have no problem taking your money , taking care of them they could careless , its so bad here in canada , that lot people here just dont care , and yes it ends of with law suits yearly bases !
As a Canadian, it's so not true. My Grandpa lived to a 100 and had an amazing life and golfed well into his 90s in Vancouver BC. You are responsible for keeping yourself healthy no matter which country you're in. In the Philippines most people don't even get to be that old because they all die fairly young.
Completely insensitive and un-empathetic observation to add to the conversation. I’m glad your grandfather lived a long and healthy life, but that’s not how it is for most people. I presume he came from a wealthier background with solid family involvement. My presumption is based on his long life and his health and the expensive habit of golf. And that he had someone to play golf with even in his most elderly years. That sounds like a nice combination, but that’s not how it is for most people… Cheers to your grandfather’s long healthy life, and may others have that as well in their various degrees.
10:20 how is it different? She probably doesn't hire based on lowest cost and still doesn't need to rely on people with shady credentials and sketchy backgrounds.
I don't know about a US facility charging $20k a month. I do know a SNF in California providing 24/7 care is about $10k-$12k a month... which is a pretty high level of care. It is strange that most residents are male... in the US, its 95%+ female.
Probably most of the residents are male because the clientele that walks in is from Western countries that moved to Phil. and are white (mostly) males with no local family but can afford these faciltiies. My mother in law was in a memory care (dementia) unit in NY and the cost was $12,000 a month about 5 years ago - her son was a heart surgeon and was footing most of the bill on behalf of all the other grown children.
@@reallifewithkids6913 The rate I referenced is for a shared room. Do you know if your MIL was in a single or shared room? I think a single room ran about ~$15k list. So I'm guessing a single cost $13k-$16k today out of pocket, , depending on the quality of the facility.
When is the best time to consider a facility like this? There are those that are still very able and just want an apartment with a cafeteria. To those with dementia and may even be bed ridden.
Too bad u didn’t show what the facility looks like. Saw on tic tok in Malaysia assisted living 1200usd for 2 people s . And the facility is brand new and looks extremely high end.
Hello guys! Inwould love to retire in the ph but i would love to have a foreign caregiver, young caring and with blue eyes! Joke only!Im planning to retire in davao, ph. Very informative indeed!
"Disparity", Why compare Care in the Phils. to a western country that's not Apples to Apples Comparing care in the Phils. to Vietnam, Cambodia or Thailand would be more on a level playing field. Just as comparing US care to England or Germany would be more on a level playing field.
You hit on a good point. As a professional nurse, I would advise that anyone looking into Thailand and Philippines for this type of care, find out what the laws are that would protect their loved ones or in my future case, myself. Maybe one day, I will find out this information and do a youtube video on it.
Do not lump all of "EUROPE" as being expensive for care. If you have no money in France, you will be cared for. Average cost in France is much less than the Philippines.
My brother just moved into an assisted care residence in the states, 1 bedroom everything included for just under $1,000. Even includes 3 meals a day has a shuttle bus to take him places if he needs a ride. It is like brand new construction with many ammenities.
That is unlikely. As a professional RN and case manager, there is something behind the scenes you may not be aware of, such as, he is getting government assistance to cover his costs and also the possibility that it is only for rental and food and if he needs ANY nursing care assistance, the cost will skyrocket. US Nurses on average are paid $80,000 USD.
@@reallifewithkids6913 I dont know if him being disabled senior lowers the price but could be factor. From what I understand it doesnt. He did have to buy furniture. He can ask for help anytime 247 and has a few buttons in the bathroom in case he has trouble.
Keep a close eye on his care. I owned a facility that my wife ran with a very qaulified manager and there can be many things you cannot see and that even management can't see. Hopefully he is very present of mind and can let you know if there are problems. All the best and hoping he gets great care.

@@VagabondAwake that's true
Bingo! You found the affordable need.
$5000/$7000? We were paying 11.5 thousand for my mom in FL. RIP to the best Mom ever.
1070 usd month in Philippines!
I am thinking of it more for myself. My parents are dead.
i am not sure i understand completely but if they give room and board and healthcare for about $1200 a month and includes everything it is the best place to stay, i guess insulin would be extra or any drugs would be extra
Yes, they are taking care of nursing, food, room. You need to pay for everything else.
How independent is the living? Can you go out anytime you want? Can you have a beer? Can you bring a friend back? Is it Western food? I got too many questions?
I would send Alma an email here and ask: lifecare.ph/contact-us/
Important questions especially beer and overnight guests.
Where is the place located???
Where in Rizal??
My wife and I used to run a facility in the US; and yes, intimacy still part of the elderly's existence.
I'm just curious about the limited use of air-conditioning since it's always hot in the Philippines... Why?
I use it all the time in Manila, Living in the Provence, there are a lot of brownouts.
Send her an email for the details, i suggest.
👍
in the usa or canada they dont care to take care of the old people any more they have no problem taking your money , taking care of them they could careless , its so bad here in canada , that lot people here just dont care , and yes it ends of with law suits yearly bases !
Bummer.
Canada pushes euthanasia, enough said.
Medical care or hospitalization was not discussed.is there anyway we can inquire about this.
Thanks for the video idea.
Cheaper cost of care but its really just a drop off service since it's not cheap nor a timely way to pay your elderly parent those important visits.
So you are not going to be near them? If you have the 10k a month you will be fine.
Excellent content Dan; very informative and relevant in today’s world
When is the best time to consider a facility like this?
There are those that are still very able and just want an apartment with a cafeteria. To those with dementia and may even be bed ridden.
Very interesting!! Baby Boomers need these alternatives outside the USA, it is a crises in the USA with Medicare coverage only a fraction.
We're in the Philippines is that
The what?
She said they are in Cebu City in the Visayas and Morong, Rizal in Luzon.

How many patients living in this Assisted living Facilities??
Wish I would have known this 5 years back..I was paying 20,000 month for my mother. Did that for a decade...
So sorry.
Too bad u didn’t show what the facility looks like. Saw on tic tok in Malaysia assisted living 1200usd for 2 people s . And the facility is brand new and looks extremely high end.
Send me the link please.
Hello guys! Inwould love to retire in the ph but i would love to have a foreign caregiver, young caring and with blue eyes! Joke only!Im planning to retire in davao, ph. Very informative indeed!
More than $20/day😊😮
What do you call 24 hour care? This could mean anything…. Does this mean someone is in my mom’s room 24 hours a day?
The video goes over this in great detail.
"Disparity", Why compare Care in the Phils. to a western country that's not Apples to Apples
Comparing care in the Phils. to Vietnam, Cambodia or Thailand would be more
on a level playing field. Just as comparing US care to England or Germany would
be more on a level playing field.
You hit on a good point. As a professional nurse, I would advise that anyone looking into Thailand and Philippines for this type of care, find out what the laws are that would protect their loved ones or in my future case, myself. Maybe one day, I will find out this information and do a youtube video on it.
Dreams 😢
Why sad?
Do not lump all of "EUROPE" as being expensive for care. If you have no money in France, you will be cared for. Average cost in France is much less than the Philippines.
You mean french assisted living? Send me a link, I will interview them.
In Scotland is free also if you don't have money in the bank the government pays it for you,as I worked on a carehome facility
@@czar7507as long as you are a scot, or can a foreigner too, for Free ? I want to move there from the USA
Foreigners too ? Free ? Or how much? Thanks 😊
My brother just moved into an assisted care residence in the states, 1 bedroom everything included for just under $1,000. Even includes 3 meals a day has a shuttle bus to take him places if he needs a ride. It is like brand new construction with many ammenities.
Where is this located?

$2500 is to much for me i guess i will die alone
It starts at 1070 USD month. Do you have greater needs?
@@VagabondAwake i am diabetic on insulin
Hmmmmmm😏
Limited air conditioning doesn’t sound very attractive 😮
You may want to determine how it is limited before jumping to conclusions?

you’re probably getting a backhander from this outfit hence why you feel the need to jump on any negative comments

Yeah....they'll give you a selection parade.
That level of care is another 3k a month, plus costumes 😂
It includes a Ferrari too. I am pretty sure. lol.

There's a bunch in Chaing Mai, Thailand.
Yes Thailand has some very good facilities.
Do they speak good English???
@marianeil6630 supposedly yes. They cater to foreigners. You can research them on line. I've never been to one. Not ready yet. Ha ha
Can I do this if I'm English as had enough of England
Philippines would be your ideal destination; and the lady who owns the facility would be your best contact as she is from the US and can mirror standard of living in western culture.
Give me a break! That price is cheaper then it costs to live there without nurse! Crazy cheap! Will they take a well abled body? lol..
Not ! Well unless you need extras😊. No beers or lap dancers are included! 😊 and your rents too high also 😮
