I loved this game. Theres a moment at the final boss where cereza says "lets dance boys" and strikes a certain pose and i audibly cheered. It was so cool and watching her grow more brave and confident throughout the story was a big highlight.
I actually thought the story was pretty good, mostly the ending were you get the revelations of what was happening, it was very dark and messed up stuff but was very well handled imo.
Yeah, not sure what the part about story being "not nonesensical" was about honestly. The DLC calling back to the multiverse hopping mess that was Bayo3's narrative aside, this is by far the most straightforward, easily digestible and to the point narrative Bayonetta as a series has had up till now and while it is really simple, I'd personally say that simplicity is to its benefit. More relaxed atmosphere and overall smaller scale also means that when things start to ramp up in the final act, it feels like a huge escalation in stakes and circumstances, the likes of which Bayonetta series hasn't really managed to make land since the first game and Origins' finale also gives us what I'd argue to be the best final boss fight and the second best villain in the series thus far.
As a little bonus to this game, you can make it a kind of co-op experience. Cereza is controlled by the left joycon and Chesire is controlled with the right. Hand one of the joycons to a friend and bam! couch co-op.
first thing that came into my mind playing this game, if you have the large Switch that can split the controllers, just handle one half to a friend and have fun!
I played this game and I liked it a lot. But Bayonetta is my favourite franchise of all time, so of course I did. It's awesome you're giving it some well-deserved attention tho! Please give this game a shot people. It deserves it.
It *is* weird to think this is the first time I’ve seen a youtuber talk about this game. I’m not a bayonetta player, sure, but it is still strange. But yeah, congrats on playing the game! Can’t make too insightful of a comment because- Well you know. The video JUST dropped. Looking forward to hearing the rest of the video though!
The game has lots of Memorable hype moments, Cereza's first torture attack agains the fat circus fairy, while all the wisps cheer her on, that felt vindicative, specially since you learn the wisps are murdered kids by the faeries. The secret weapon of the fairy king, with it's mix of bayonetta's 1 and 2 themes was great, the prospect of a low level goon from the main games being an almost unstopable weapon really sets the power leve. And finally, the run throug the forest while "frienship" theme sounds, followed by Cerezas first witch time. Really cool game if you are a fan of the series. Also, it's increadibly soulfull how the themo is played through bayonetta 3, and the demo itself opens up from the same book, that whole menu from bayonetta 3 is too good, it almost dosen't belong in 2022-2023, i can only think of the splatoon plaza being such a good menu.
I really enjoy this format from you. These kind of relaxed reviews are usually my favorites. Until you mentioned playing Bayo 1 on PS3, I never realized how much I want to hear you talk about 360/PS3 games since that is something we don't get to hear your thoughts on much.
I played the demo, and it completely changed my mind on the game. I really need to buy it when I get a chance. I feel like it will be one of those really good games that gets overlooked down the line. I'm sure it will be a cult hit and will have more and more vids like yours talking about it!
Im glad you showed love to this game. Far too often other review channels only cover the big popular games. So your channel is kind of like a hidden gem on the internet
Haven't played Origins but I have a physical copy and it's on the queue. I also liked Bayonetta 3. It's a good game that I wish was better given what it's aiming for. I do feel some of the story choices impact rhe gameplay in some less than ideal ways.
Been thinking a lot about this game recently! Was even considering buying it sometime soon, but ended up picking up Astral Chain (another Platinum Games title I missed at launch). But yeah, right now is prime time to pick up this game, because I see listings for it at around 35$, which is insane to me for a big Nintendo game that’s still relatively new. Anyway, I’m hoping it stays at that price point a little longer for me to pick up sometime soon. I think it’d be great October game for me, but that month also already packed!.
I really fell in love with this game, every inch of it, and I've never played a Bayonetta game, I was the sort who missed it and was introduced to Bayonetta as a character because of Smash Bros,, but. This game. This game!!! The aesthetics and vibes and puzzles and action fighting and music/sound design and dual character control.... its so cool. I adore it. I want to see more things like this. I bought the game on release day, but then Tears of the Kingdom came our and took over, but I came back to this game and it's just so so good, I'm sad people slept on it.
9:26 i have... something... we aren't sure if it's anxiety, ADHD or just a proxy of light Autism... but same here. i'm watching this video while playing a game right now
I was actually just thinking about this game! I finally decided to try the demo that I installed earlier this year, ended up loving it and purchased the game today! Sad that no one talks about this game, it’s something special!
I am a huge fan of the way you did this video. I hope you can make more videos on this channel talking about games a little more casually that you couldn’t normally cover.
I’ve played this, but haven’t played 3 yet actually. The VO stuff prior to release and the mixed reaction afterwards killed a lot of the 3 hype for me, but I definitely want to get to it after Origins kinda blew me away
I've heard 3 has the best, most innovative combat but we've all heard the outrage about the story. It depends on which matters more to you. In any case, I hope you have fun with whatever you decide to do!
I can look past the VA drama, as much as it makes me sad to lose Helena Taylor. The combat is really fun and its a gorgeous switch game, but oh boy, OH BOY. The story is "not it" in terms of execution, especially coming off the high of Bayo 2. And no, it has nothing to do with Bayo and Jaune being "not gay" for each other.
I really like the idea of this series, this was a fun little video. I played the demo for this game awhile back and I did really enjoy it, but I'm still waiting for it to drop in price a bit more before I buy it fully.
So is this a Super Paper Mario and Sonic Unleashed thing where the game was either hated or neglected when it came out but will be praised in the future.
Wow I never heard of this. I played Bayo3 and played the demo it had after beating the game. But for some reason never heard of Origins releasing until now. How sure how lmao
This is like the Yoshi's Island of the Bayonetta Universe. - Is a Prequel Spin-off of the main games. - Main character is not as powerful than in the mainline games due to being younger. - Art style deviates from that of the main games and represents distant memories (everything looks like a children's book), - New game mechanics and level designs revolve around unique gameplay loops. - Ultimate goal is to find your parents or mother in this case. - Secondary protaganist carries the team and has to deal with your shieez.
9:30, this is something I do a lot as well, sometimes having something play in the background while I play a game is very helpful for some games, it’s how I usually play games like pokemon or when trying to trophy certain games
I'm a Bayonetta guy, so I will buy what ever they make for this series. I didn't expect to enjoy this as much as I did. Surprised to find this is the most understandable and well written Bayonetta game. Not really a high bar, but it did it. I loved this game and think everyone should give it a go. Even if it is kinda combat heavy near the end.
I think that the greatest thing about this video is the idea that we should believe in Platinum game's vision more. Admittedly part of the reason I haven't touched this game yet is because I haven't played 3, but at the same time, I was a little disappointed at the announcement of this weird little game they made. But after hearing you talk about it and seeing more gameplay, I'm just like, "Whoa! This game is gorgeous! I can't wait to play it! "
YO!! never knew you were that into Bayonetta, and glad you agree on the third game being a really unique title! And yes I too agree that Origins is just super underrated really adored the artstyle more like a japaness fairytale which what made me try it
Actually this game is what i expect from them. They are going back to there roots. Yeah all the cool action is ok. But nothing can beat this game and okami

Bayonetta Origins paid for the broken promises of Bayonetta 3. Which is a damn shame because if this had just been Bayo 3 people would have been a lot happier.
I would absolutely buy this if it were on PC. The control scheme in Brothers created one of my favourite ever co-op experiences while my friend and I held the same controller. I'm longing for another game with controls like that

Play the following ports: the 2017 PC port, on Switch or the 10th Anniversary Bayonetta & Vanquish bundle on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
I'm not a bayo fan I simply know the series exist judging from how the gameplay looks I can see why fans slept on this game but the game looks good that's it
I feel bad that I didn't buy this game, because I did really want to buy it. It's just that $60 price coupled with the competition from the likes of Zelda TotK, yeah, it just fell by the wayside. But, I did notice it on sale on Amazon for about $40. I may pick this up soon.
What I found most pleasant in the game was how respectfuly they treated the main character. They could've easily gone the lazy (and pervy) route and made her a loli-esque, sexualized young girl and go almost like friggin Symphogear (but not as stylish or fun as the aforementioned anime) but they decided to respect the audience and keep it PG, but not only that, made her dancing move, which for Bayonetta means some heavily sexualized movements, but made it more akin to ballet dancing, which fits perfectly wit hthe Tchaikovsky-esque fairytale tone of the game.
And oh, FYI, "Tir na nÓg" (Land of Youth) comes from Celtic and irish mythology as this fantastic land thats kinda like the "Fairy Kingdom", almost all the characters in Bayo Origins harkens from Celtic/irish folklore.
As a Bayo fan who was deeply hurt by 3's story, I'm actually extremely glad you liked it! And judging from you enjoying the growth in strength of Cereza, I can see why. I feel like they made the right decision for the story to make Viola the MC going forward but they didn't execute it properly, whether that be her character, how they handled Bayo (and Jeanne) stepping back or both. You've genuinely taken this game from a "fuck no" state of mind to a "aw shit I love that era of games". I'm not holding out hope for the story though, I don't put it past them to make really bad cliches.
yeah, is a shame the disappointment towards Bayo 3 took attention away from this game. also this is the best Bayonetta design, single braid is the correct hair style

I wish Cereza got a bit more to do in combat, but otherwise I really enjoyed the game. Hope we get another game in this style from Platinum

My first kamiya game was Okami, and this whole game felt like they were taking Bayonetta to the okami formula, just a really charming and fun game.
