The best part of shadow seeing future stages is that it implies that he always knew Eggman was gonna cause a war and take over the world and he just chose not to warn anyone about it lmao
He was just in some random place with a war going on, he had no idea it would be soonish or even all over the world. For all he knew it could've been in the future or even the past, and just confined to that one city
I mean Gerald does warn him about creating a paradox. That door kinda swings both ways in time travel if you think about it. *Silver sweating in the corner as this conversation goes on
To be fair, he might not have even known what was happening, I’d be more confused than anything if I was in his position That being said, I know when Forces happened, Shadow was probably like “not this again…”
I mean, that could be a motivator for Shadow to accept and pursue Rouge's findings about Eggman. He could be thinking that it might be the lead-up to the war he saw. Plus, he never saw Infinite in Gens, so there would be no contradiction to him being dismissive of the jackal in their first encounter.
It feels like they got the Drop Dash backwards in this remaster. I feel like it should've been an innate ability for Classic Sonic, and an equippable Skill for Modern Sonic.
@@comicking428 You can already equip the Drop Dash alongside the institute and it works fine, and as for the homing attack... I mean... That's literally what they did for modern... Lol
There's also not many games to pull from for Shadow. I do however think asset reuse is why we got no Shadow 05 level, even though the last level probably should have been Westopolis or Black Comet instead. We were getting Sunset Heights regardless though due to the lack of games Shadow has been in since 06. I'm still kind of miffed about Asteroid Coaster not getting added though since he was there in Colors DS.
Plus, I think that they just wanted to have another crack at it. Forces is universally panned as the worst Sonic game. And Chaos Island is agreed to be the worst Island. So there were more pros to make it worth remaking these stages. Sunset Heights getting the most benefit from it.
I think the reason Infinite wasn't a boss is that while he's definitely an antagonist to Shadow, he's not really a REFLECTION of Shadow the same way Biolizard, Metal Overlord, and Mephiles all are. Shadow "made" him, but he doesn't really say anything about who Shadow is.
Which is actually why I'm kinda surprised there isn't an Emerl boss fight. Emerl can literally learn the moves of people he fights, so it would be neat having Emerl match Shadow more and more as the fight progresses. Bonus points if it's Emerl from *after* Gerald's reprogramming.
I agree. At best, Infinite is an example of the consequences of Shadow's unfiltered anger. Infinite was already a pretty bad dude, but he definitely was more unhinged and dangerous after Shadow "took out" Jackal Squad and messed up Infinite's face. There's definitely a way to tie that concept into Maria's wish for Shadow to not let his rage control him, but to do that idea justice would need a lot more time and dialogue that the game did not have the resources for.
@@matthewbuckley7757 I'm glad people are coming around on Silver. He always had potential to be an interesting character, he just never really had a standout role outside of sonic 06, and we all know how that game turned out
Iirc, knuckles called classic sonic fat in the original sonic generations, so it seems they just didn't change his animation to match the rewritten dialog.
I can confirm it's because the Japanese dialogue was untouched for the most part, so the animations use that script as a base. I think this is the biggest regional difference we got lipsync-wise since SA2.
I wonder if people who haven't played the original game think the line about Secret Rings and Colors was a changed line for the remaster. It's not, it was in the original, which Ian absolutely had no involvement in. It's just something I think about, in a game about references that just got a crap ton more.
When I think of the fully 3D and fully 2D stages, I think it was Sonic Team saying that we can build immaculate stages for each style. That is important for me as I am very critical of Boost 2D. When I think of 2D in Generations, Colours and Forces I always thought that 2D was a mask for their inability to make good 3D levels, and with Shadow having 7 full 3D stages I was able to see the good that can happen in 2D. I can take a breath and relax when a 2D section shows up in the future and maybe not be so critical of it.
I think having 3D and 2D as separate stages in Shadow Gens makes a big difference. This change allows the 3D and 2D level design to shine, rather than compromising each other due to the constant switch off
@@rolo9115 I respect your opinion. The reason I think it’s a compromise to include 3D & 2D in one stage is that it limits the identity or engagement of the stage. If you ask any fan of Unleashed or Generations, they will tell you that the 3D sections are the best parts of the level. Does that mean the 2D bad? No, but fans will always prefer the 3D because it’s more engaging. However, when the levels are fully 2D like Classic Sonic’s, they can be really fun. City Escape and Crisis City were some of the most fun designed 2D stages I’ve ever played. But you can’t get levels like those if you mix 2D and 3D, and thus end up with a compromise-where either the 3D or 2D shines, or neither do. Now, I haven’t played Shadow Gens yet, but I’ve seen plenty of footage, and just from Space Colony Ark Act 2 I can tell that the 2D levels are gonna be great because it has its own identifier/theme-the gravity cylinders that take shadow up and down, which are not found in the 3D level (technically they’ve been turned into squares lol). I even saw a puzzle segment where shadow has to chaos spear switches by circling around to open the final door needed to proceed, and it fits The Ark because it’s a giant space station with tons of security. I can only imagine the other 2D stages are just as smartly designed, since there will be no 2D/3D break-up. My bad, I talked a lot, but wanted to get my point across. Hope you can understand.
@@bluespidrlily that's a good point, most of shadow's act 2 stages are well designed and are great, however I don't think even if someone prefers the 3d sections over the 2d sections in a unleashed/modern generations lvl that doesn't really compromise any of them. Your example of crisis city and city escape is a good one as those are great 2d levels but if lets say they added some 3d sections(where idk they replaced classic with modern) it could be equally as good or better.
One minor change to Sonic Generations is that the song Ride on, Right there from Sonic Rush has been replaced most likely due licensing issues. So I guess if you really liked that song and didn't like the new voices and dialogue you can still go back to the original release from 2011.
I want DLC for this game so bad. Give us Shadow 05 levels, Infinite Boss fight, more music and collectibles. Worst that can happen is you make another 10 million dollars on top of this success. C'mon!
RIGHT? There're still some bosses like Emerl, Eggman Nega and Infinite which we could get, and stages like Black Comet and Westopolis if we just put random stages for the bosses like the present ones, or there are Mystic Jungle for Infinite, Sonic Battle's city for Emerl (why not?) and Death Yard for Eggman Nega
The fact i can play un-gravitify, my favourite song in the franchise over shadows levels... *SHUDDERS IN PLEASURE* You have no idea how much that pleases me.
One of the big things I loved about Shadow Generations is that the levels ACTAULLY felt like you could explore and take in the environment as well plan your route! You DON'T HAVE TO ALWAYS BOOST and I love that! Shadow has enough speed to him normally that the game doesn't feel like a slog and the times were you DO boost (like when trying to get collectables, S Ranks, or just wanting to speed through the levels/area) ACTUALLY feel good! Honestly my main issue with the game was that 1 or 2 of the Doom Skills felt like a bit of a pain to use but that's about it.
Totally loved the game! Solid from start to finish. Both 3D and 2D levels were spectacular. Now for the next main game, I need them to have only ORIGINAL stages AND music. Enough with the nostalgia pandering. We had enough for the last decade or so. Give us full new games like we used to have
Speaking about Infinite not being in the game, it kinda makes sense. If he encounter and fought Infinite here, that would make no sense in canon as why then is he would not see him as a threat or not know him by the time his DLC in Forces rolls around.
@proudtobeme1ashkente The most we got is Modern Sonic remembering Classic Sonic after reuniting in Forces. The push for a more consistent canon with a "new" writer (technically worked on the Sonic comics for a long time) was fairly recent starting with Frontiers (an example of this is Shadow Generations, which is a new game with said writer, which connects and ties up lore from previous games involving Shadow), so I wouldn't be surprised if later games do reference Generations' events.
I wouldn’t call the rocket parts *entirely* worthless. Yeah, what you get from Orbot and Cubot is a joke, but you also get some concept art and the Forces remix of Supporting Me, along with an achievement.
You made a fantastic point of how well they integrated the story context into some of the levels where Shadow interacts with Black Doom. It's very seamless and we tend to take for granted that past games haven't done too much of this (or haven't done it that well in Force's case).
I'm totally gonna be that guy right now and clarify: The Doom Spears are when he shoots five at once. When he just shoots the single one, that's his normal Chaos Spear.
man, this game simply made me happy, i wasnt expecting anything, and seeing gameplay on trailers it looked kinda boring but playing it is a completely different thing, it was so fun and as you said, the level design is incredible full of things that reward you for experimenting with shadow's moveset, and another thing that made me really happy is how well it runs on switch, i played both sonic and shadow generations on the switch, and sure its not 60fps, its 30, but its consistent, there weren't framerate issues, things just worked
11:48 - No, the game does not explain that you can launch through the orbs you swing from in Doom Morph form. At all. If it weren't for this video, I'd have never known, and thus would have never known how to get that one damn collectible medal. No reference intended.
Yeah, as far as I know, it never tells you that you need to be directly beneath the orb and then let go to go directly up. They could’ve done better explaining that
I got that medal after an hour of jumping from the goo ramp over and over until I finally hit it. Imagine my surprise when it should have taken 5 seconds.
As a fan that grew up with the Classic games and despised Shadow in the Modern games I thought going into this game that I was going to be eh about the Shadow part of the game. I'm so glad to be proven wrong and I just want SEGA to focus more on this type of gameplay for the 3D and 2D Sonic games going forward. Having level design that encourages using abilities to unlock different paths (including tight timing as well) is such a breath of fresh air. No longer having boost to win/hold right to win? Us Sonic fans be eating!
Sonic Dream Team and Shadow Generations are two of the best 3D Sonics ever. If Sega wants to give us annualized five hour Sonic games of this level of quality, I am all for it.
saying “the original [sonic generations] released over a decade ago” legit made me pause the vid and look it up… what do you MEAN the og was released in 2011?!
I'd like to think that Black Doom just didn't want any reminder of that one time he lost against Shadow in White Space, which is why there are 0 stages reminiscent of Shadow The Hedgehog 2005. Just how I'd like to think Black Doom thinks Radical Highway is just so cool.
Sonic does reference Secret Rings & Colors in the Pontac script as well (& Colors make sense because is literally a sequel) & I politely disagree, Sonic Generations story is not great but is decent to good, it does help keep the flow going. I do appreciate the Flyn re-writes make Tails sound smart. the Boom Games fall into the Not Good category
14:00 Bro you don't know pain until you're trying to get the Black Suit in ultimate spiderman and find all 100+ "Mystery tokens" in New York with nothing on the map. I had 1 left for YEARS and stumbled on it in a playthrough and just stared at it for 5 minutes.
I swear no Black Comet stage is something that puzzles me to no end. Would had worked far better than Chaos Island IMO. Hell, Radical Highway as a normal level, and the intrusions and final level being Black Comet inspired would had been the way to go. Anyway, hoping we get extra DLC levels. EVEN for the original Sonic Gens side. A small Silver Gens side campaign wouldn't be too bad tho; beating up Iblis and Eggman Nega with psychic powers could be a great thing!
I'm so happy they managed to find a way to make Shadow as different from Sonic as possible while staying in the Boost formula. & yeah i wish they had added more Shadow 05 levels, maybe have added chunks of it mixed into the later Radical Highways to add to the Mind Trippery Yeah I'm glad that Dream Team, Frontiers, & now Shadow are Sonic Team just declaring "ok i think we finally figured out the Peak 3D Sonic formula"
I love how they completely split 2D and 3D into different stages. Despite being playing Sonic games since the classic era and loving both play styles, I was always more of a 3D person. Shadow Generations allows you to replay and tryhard your stages with the gameplay that fits you best, making sure you have 100% fun. I still launch the game just to enjoy speeding and connect tricks flawlessly through the 3D stages.
I still don't care much for modern sonic stages. Is it weird that in order I like the most Shadow act 1 stages>Sonic unleashed day stages>Modern Sonic generations stages.
Shadow Generations is the greatest thing I could have ever gotten. Shadow has always been the better Sonic. The way they treated his story and legacy with so much love and care is so precious. And the fact that this is the best 3D Sonic game, gameplay and level design wise is just a massive bonus. This is not only the greatest Sonic gane since Generations launched, it is my favorite Sonic game ever. Finally, the great Shadow game that we always deserved. (The 05 game had some massive vibes though)
My biggest issue with sonic in the past is that even when they make a really good, polished, fun game that I love, it’s short as hell. Of course there’s replay value but at the end of the day if I love a game I want there to be more of it. But I fully understand why a good boost sonic game has to be short. That’s why this is legit the best sonic game ever in my eyes, and the fact that there’s a DLC level coming out soon is just icing on the cake.
I never like when Sonic goes 2D in a modern Sonic game. But when I played the 2D sections and levels with Shadow, i loved them. They were fun. And it was mainly because the camera most of the time was angled so you could see more ahead and have more time to react. Which to me just tells you that Modern Sonic 2D levels aren't naturally bad, it depends on if the levels are done well. I like the overworld on Shadows end. It's like mixing Generations with Frontiers. Every level in Shadow Generations was fun. Challenging, and fun. Some of the different paths are harder to get to, but so rewarding when you figure them out. You can save like 30 seconds on each levels at least if you take as many short routes as you can My favourite boss was 100% Mephiles. He starts the fight like he had a plan, but when it goes to shit, he fumbles and gets desperate. I love his introduction, like even just trying to get to his boss gate. The music changes to be creepier and more sinister. Then he has four locks instead of three, kinda giving a not that this one is more dangerous than the others. And his rage at Shadow is completely meaningful. Infinite was mad because Shadow called him pathetic or something. Mephiles hates him because he's at least a key part of why he no longer exists. He's finally facing the person that had a hand in him being erased from time. Of course he'd be pissed off. Even then, it's less rage and morr desperation to exist again. He even says it himself. "I want to exist!" And Shadow is in the way of that. They really did Mephiles justice here
I actually didn't know about the hidden Chao in the original Generations portion, I never see anyone talk about it. Do you even get anything for collecting them?
For anyone mentioning that Space Colony Ark represents Shadow, you have to remember that level is mostly based on the SA2 counterparts and is from SA2. If it had level design that you only would find in Shadow with a little SA2 in there, that would be fine. But since it doesn’t, it mostly becomes SA2 representation. Besides, having Shadow the Hedgehog share a level with SA2 feels a little bit of a cheat anyways as this is Shadow’s own game, especially with how Black Doom being the main villain makes the problem more baffling. That’s like if you made a Wario Generations but barely represent Wario Ware and Wario Land, or made a Luigi Generations but barely represent Luigi’s Mansion. Also, can someone point to me where Space Colony Ark pulls from Shadow the Hedgehog? The only thing I can think of is that your able to run on walls. But in Shadow 05, that happens because Shadow touched a green tube thing that changes his gravity, and the only other wall he can go on breaks immediately unless he quickly triangle jumps. It honestly feels more like a simpler version of the green cylinders in Final Chase and Space Colony Ark act 2 to better function in a 3D level without spending too much unneeded time on making it work. Since the original Final Chase is a bit mixed because of the green cylinders.
I don't really get when people say there's "no" Shadow the Hedgehog representation in the levels, when both Space Colony Ark and Radical Highway have plenty of connections to Shadow level design. Sure it's not made explicit in the names, but most of the RH mid level sections very much share the general Westopolis aesthetic, with actual RH act 2 basically being a modern style Westopolis remake. As for SCA, it definitely takes its aesthetic from SA2 (primarily Final Chase of course) but you can definitely see some parts of the different SCA levels from Shadow thrown in there. I personally felt like they did a pretty good job trying to sorta blend level ideas here, to help kinda bring the Sonic world more together and make things more consistent between games, and I honestly hope this keeps up.
im glad i have a version of sonic gens for pc that doesnt need mods to run properly so i can boot it up and get my modern sonic fix in record time (though unleashed daytime stages will always hold the #1 space in my heart of hearts)
Shadow Generations, to me at least, feels like not only the evolution for Frontiers's formula, but also an evolution of Adventure and Boost gameplay. This little game is one of my favorites this year, alongside Metaphor, P3R, Echoes of Wisdom and SH2 Remake. Makes me excited for the future of the series with both original games and remasters/remakes.
Last 3D sonic I played was Heroes on the PS2. Now I got SxS Generations and having a blast! I planned to get Gen on PS3 era but kinda never got to it. This is an absolutely amazing game! Playing Seaside Hills and Rail Canyon was a real nostalgia blast!
I don't agree with turning Amy into an overly passive and boring female character in this game or the others. Making her lovestruck and hot tempered is why people liked her in the first place, it's funny.
You get iiiit! finally an opinion that unashamedly praises all the good aspects of this game without stopping here or there for silly nitpicks (we all have them, but some players act like they're an objective detractor from the experience). It's funny to think that we didn't get any Shadow 05 levels... Westopolis would be a funny choice, given that we go through Radical Highway like five or six times 💀 I was half-expecting the final stages to take place in the Black Comet or something. Personally? I'd say be bold with it and throw Circus Park in there, just for stupid fun. The Infinite thing got me thinking just now,... Hm, it was already tricky to include Mephiles as a throwback since Shadow doesn't remember him, but it would've been *extra* troublesome to bring in Infinite and having it make sense. This Shadow hasn't met him yet, and if he did confront Infinite now, their whole deal later would go rather unjustified. Sonic Team probably considered this, if Sunset Heights is part of the game.
It would be funny if they added a bit bigger DLC that of course costs a bit more, that is in fact just a remaster of every Shadow the Hedgehog 2005 stage in new engine
Kingdom Valley Act 1 is genuinely my favourite level in a Sonic game. I love Doom Surf, and I've been grinding my time down it's that fun. Like, normally, I'll try for S rank and then move on when I get said S rank, but this level keeps pulling me back. I can't tell you why, cause I don't really know. It's just stupid fun.
17:50 Its kinda funny how Infinite isn't in this game. A game about all of Shadows intimidating foes. Infinite was never really a threat, so Black Doom didn't even think of him. It is funny Oh and THE FINAL BOSS IS SO HYPE AAA
The only issue I have with Shadow generations is going back and getting the platinum. White space's map is really really bad and some of those ring challenges in doom zone are so hard.
I played the Original version of Sonic Generation so many times. It is one of my favorite Sonic games I only have watched the new cutscenes for the New version. There is a few changes that it does do better here liked Amy seeing how cute Classic Sonic is, Classic Eggman getting abducted not just Modern Sonic, and even a few dialogue changes like Classic Tails questioned about timeline being restored), but in my opinion, I think the cutscenes handled way better in the original. There some changes or dialogues that are either weird or not as powerful as the original did. The best example is in the very first cutscene where Sonic’s friends get abducted. In the original version, after Amy surprised Sonic up close, she tries to hug Sonic and he push her away with his hand. To me, that’s funny because we know how Amy madly in love with Sonic. In the new version, after Amy surprised Sonic up close, she offers Sonic cupcakes. That transmission doesn’t make sense at all. It’s like having a cutscene where Mario is about to fight Bowser, but then stops that and makes a documentary about cirque du soleil. Weird right. Another example in that same scene is Tails being sucked into Time Eater’s black hole. In the original version, when he gets sucked in, you feel that moment. With the voice acting, the music, and the animation. It did a really good job on making you feel like Tails’s life flashing before his eyes. In the new version, Tails just sounds more disinterested than threatened that he might die. It sounded like the voice actress was looking her phone while voicing that line.
Despite the short length Shadow generations is so good and the story is really enjoyable. I’m glad that the series is going back to the darker tone of the Adventure days and I’m looking forward to playing the DLC next month. I’m very excited for what’s next for the Sonic series either a new Sonic frontiers style game or maybe Silver having his own game.
As someone who also spent dozens-hundreds of hours with the original Sonic Gens (even streamed the Steam version before the remake launched), you are quite literally repeating the exact same sentiments that I've been saying.
I'll still never understand why they changed the shadow line from "You got this, Sonic" to "On your feet." I get its more character fitting, but especially after the events of Shadow Generations, it would have made that line go harder
With this game being my first sonic game, I am finally glad I can get into the series with a good game at a surprisingly low price Also, 0:48 I’m glad I wasn’t the only one 😅
I have to disagree with you on the fact that the game doesn't show you were collectables are. In Sonic frontiers, collecting was tedious but in shadow gens, you actually want to explore.
The bolt collecting was such a time waste. I thought maybe the rocket could take us to one more zone or another white space section. I liked all the little timer challenges, though. Really fun overall. Maybe the rocket will be how we access the movie DLC stage when that comes out.
My favorite game in the series hands down. Shadow Generations I mean. I never enjoyed Sonic Generations. People complain that it's a bit too short but I will argue that it's this high quality because of the relatively short length. It's all killer no filler. Also I like that it's on the short side. Makes it highly replayable.
I found Shadow's controls to be a tiny bit slippery, took me a while to get used to them but once you DO get used to them, damn near perfect 3:42 Yeah that's because in the original Generations, Knuckles called Classic Sonic fat or chubby or something along those lines, hence him rubbing his belly. They removed that from dialogue but yeah, the animation does leave some weird implications. Glad you didn't even mention Rouge's model changes, it's such a minor change but people are loosing their minds over it. Also I was surprised there were NO stages from Shadow The Hedgehog, you'd think those would be obvious
I didn't even noticed the Rouge's model changes before people start complaining about it everywhere. I don't get the obsession of some people for such minor, almost unoticeable changes. Like who cares if we see less of her back. That's so dumb
If it wasn’t a big deal, it shouldn’t have been censored. But because the company decided that it was a big enough deal to change, it’s only fair that the consumers have the right to decide that it’s a big enough deal to complain about. I’m not saying that you need to think it’s a big deal, just that it’s okay for others to think that it is.
@@simpsonsfanatic777 Except it's not a big deal AT ALL and the only people complaining are the same people who can't stand female protagonists who aren't "hot". @@simpsonsfanatic777 People are automatically labelling it as censorship but in my opinion, it's just a simple slight redesign. Just because it shows less skin doesn't mean it's censorship. They may just thought it looked better that way when remodeling Rouge
Seeing as there was literally a Zone simply called "The Ark" in "Shadow the Hedgehog (05)" and in this game it is also called "The Ark", it makes more sense to think of it from that game but even Sega has in some of their marketing treated it like a "Sonic Adventure 2" thing.
@@GAHAHAHHand technically in The Ark (Shadow 05) you ride on a flying alien for the most part. Had kickass music though. But yeah, it’s pretty much based on Final Chase.
As much as I love the game overall and I enjoy nearly everything from it because I almost got everything I wanted in a new Sonic game except for one thing, the absence of a stage from Shadow The Hedgehog. If there was a stage from Shadow The Hedgehog to be in Shadow Generations instead of Chaos Island from Sonic Frontiers because Shadow was not in Frontiers, Shadow Generations would’ve been a near perfect game. A missed opportunity for SEGA and Sonic Team to put in a stage from Shadow The Hedgehog in Shadow Generations and I’m really hoping they’ll put in a stage from Shadow The Hedgehog as DLC.

Boost 2D is basically just Rush, and the Rush trilogy was great.
I think having 3D and 2D as separate stages in Shadow Gens makes a big difference. This change allows the 3D and 2D level design to shine, rather than compromising each other due to the constant switch off
@@bluespidrlily I don't think it compromises it tho, most levels have great level design in both 2d and 3d.
Shit I forgot about that song being in the original

And a Silver dlc campaign, to explain where silver was diring generations.
We are getting DLC: 3 stages for Shadow, set in the world of the Sonic movies. He's even voiced by Keanu Reeves in it!

I don't keep up with everything in the franchise. Is generations a canon adventure every character remembers after the Time Eater is defeated?
Ant: It's barely been a week since the game came out when this video's coming out.
My good sir, it's been 2 weeks.
You made a fantastic point of how well they integrated the story context into some of the levels where Shadow interacts with Black Doom. It's very seamless and we tend to take for granted that past games haven't done too much of this (or haven't done it that well in Force's case).
I love how one third of this video is literally just "guys i'm trying my hardest to find something bad about this game i can't fucking find it"
I'm totally gonna be that guy right now and clarify:
The Doom Spears are when he shoots five at once. When he just shoots the single one, that's his normal Chaos Spear.
I’m looking forward to the next Sonic game especially if the Frontiers/Shadow Generations quality is what they’re going with
Shadow Generations vs Infinite be like:
*Infinite:* You took everything from me.
*Shadow:* I don’t even know who you are.
I’m honestly so happy they spent time looking at camera placement more. Getting trolled by perspective was a long term annoyance

man, this game simply made me happy, i wasnt expecting anything, and seeing gameplay on trailers it looked kinda boring but playing it is a completely different thing, it was so fun and as you said, the level design is incredible full of things that reward you for experimenting with shadow's moveset, and another thing that made me really happy is how well it runs on switch, i played both sonic and shadow generations on the switch, and sure its not 60fps, its 30, but its consistent, there weren't framerate issues, things just worked
i like how shadow gens turn everyone into a speed-runner

14:09 I KNOW RIGHT! Looking for the last few bolts tripled my playtime
It’s peak Sonic, period.

I’ll give him that, Radical Highway really is so cool
Sonic does reference Secret Rings & Colors in the Pontac script as well (& Colors make sense because is literally a sequel)
& I politely disagree, Sonic Generations story is not great but is decent to good, it does help keep the flow going. I do appreciate the Flyn re-writes make Tails sound smart. the Boom Games fall into the Not Good category
Tbh it was hard going back to regular Generations after playing Shadow Generations, the level design and controls in Shadow gens is just that good
14:00 Bro you don't know pain until you're trying to get the Black Suit in ultimate spiderman and find all 100+ "Mystery tokens" in New York with nothing on the map.
& yeah i wish they had added more Shadow 05 levels, maybe have added chunks of it mixed into the later Radical Highways to add to the Mind Trippery
Yeah I'm glad that Dream Team, Frontiers, & now Shadow are Sonic Team just declaring "ok i think we finally figured out the Peak 3D Sonic formula"
Ok genuinely what was wrong with Shadow's og line in the final battle? People keep saying its bad but never explained.
I think it was the line delivery “u got dis sanic”
Ok good! Glad to know that it runs well on Switch as that was the version I got my brother
Sonic fans are finally eating good! It feels good being a Sonic fan!
“Shadow has always been better than sonic” holy glaze
I missed knuckles calling classic sonic fat
You can save like 30 seconds on each levels at least if you take as many short routes as you can
My favourite boss was 100% Mephiles.
"I want to exist!"
And Shadow is in the way of that.
They really did Mephiles justice here
I actually didn't know about the hidden Chao in the original Generations portion, I never see anyone talk about it. Do you even get anything for collecting them?
You get a trophy.
I'll admit i purely like them because *HOLY SHIT THEY CUTE AS FUCK*
Especially that one that looked like tails.
I personally think that if there was a Shadow 05 level, it would have to be the Black Comet. That one makes the most sense to me.
Shadow's L1/R1 Quick Step is a slide, because of course it is and that's amazing
I would love for Shadow to have his own sub-series
I’m with you, Shadow Generations just blows me away it gets more fun with each playthrough
I really hope the reason the didn't include any Shadow stages is because they are making a Shadow Remaster. probably not, but one can dream
We could only wish
im glad i have a version of sonic gens for pc that doesnt need mods to run properly so i can boot it up and get my modern sonic fix in record time (though unleashed daytime stages will always hold the #1 space in my heart of hearts)
The Japanese version says Amy loves Sonic.
So... Amy still loves Sonic, nothing you say will change that.
One of my favorite games ever, absolute blast everyone should play it
It would be funny if they added a bit bigger DLC that of course costs a bit more, that is in fact just a remaster of every Shadow the Hedgehog 2005 stage in new engine
The worst thing about shadow gens is that there isn’t more shadow gens
Can't believe you didn't talk about the final level, it's so good
I would love for this to be the new formula for sonic in the future. Open world hub worlds but on a larger scale. And more in depth boost stages
It is funny
Oh and THE FINAL BOSS

0:48 nah crisis city is WAY worse
Sonic Gens and Shadow Gens are great games! (imo)
The only issue I have with Shadow generations is going back and getting the platinum. White space's map is really really bad and some of those ring challenges in doom zone are so hard.
It would've been cool for them to do like what the OG game did for Silver and give Infinite an actual cool boss fight
I played the Original version of Sonic Generation so many times. It is one of my favorite Sonic games
I only have watched the new cutscenes for the New version.
Was already side eyeing this bc Ive been wanting to replay generations without digging out the ol 360, but now I may have to pick it up...
really fun game man, I was so surprised by it
Despite the short length Shadow generations is so good and the story is really enjoyable. I’m glad that the series is going back to the darker tone of the Adventure days and I’m looking forward to playing the DLC next month. I’m very excited for what’s next for the Sonic series either a new Sonic frontiers style game or maybe Silver having his own game.

Arguably one of the best 3D Sonic games. Definitely the best of the "Boost" era. We're back baby!!!
I'll still never understand why they changed the shadow line from "You got this, Sonic" to "On your feet." I get its more character fitting, but especially after the events of Shadow Generations, it would have made that line go harder
With this game being my first sonic game, I am finally glad I can get into the series with a good game at a surprisingly low price

3D stages need to only be 3D Stages. So hats off to Sonic team for finally listening.
The only thing i honestly dislike is Shadow's boost animation i just wish he was still skating when you boost.
As someone who hasn’t really played any of the modern Sonics, this game is difficult sometimes.

Makes it highly replayable.
I found Shadow's controls to be a tiny bit slippery, took me a while to get used to them but once you DO get used to them, damn near perfect
3:42 Yeah that's because in the original Generations, Knuckles called Classic Sonic fat or chubby or something along those lines, hence him rubbing his belly. They removed that from dialogue but yeah, the animation does leave some weird implications.

i love shadow hedgehog story its amazing
Space Colony Ark was probably based on a mix of its Shadow the Hedgehog and the SA2 rendition rather than just SA2.
The only complaint to me about shadow generation is the ranking system still easy to get the S rank other than that it's a amazing
