You are an amazing person. My son Andrew went too Lubbock Texas August 14th 2015. He went for a wedding. My son was murdered while trying to protect his transgender friend. They were friends from grade school. Sara transitioned at my house. I don't understand hating someone who is different from you. My son was a Harvard law student studying civil and human right. I made him an organ donor 8-20-15. Thank you Scott. Much love and respect. Please take care.

Matthew was one of the first gay people I ever "met". He was my friend on AOL long before this tragedy happened. Thank you for this video. I'll never forget being in small town Kentucky and listening to Tom Brokaw announcing that he passed away and then 2 weeks later realizing that it was my friend. Truly a heart breaking and eye opening time for me. Thank you Scott for remembering him for the person he was and not just a headline.

I think your name is Scott, right? I have just spent this day, Oct. 7, with an ache in my heart so severe that I can hardly breathe. I have spent the day thinking about Matthew Shepard! I am so sad I can hardly stand it. I look at that beautiful young man and try to imagine the horrendous, hideous hours he spent in pain wondering what he had done to deserve such vile treatment. And he was alone, tears running down his beautiful face. I can only hope that the angels were sent to minister to him! I cannot fathom hate this brutal administrated to a young man that had no chance of even fighting back! Imagine the pain he was in! I don’t believe either of the murderers are sorry. I looked at the face of the so-called follower and to me it looked like he was wanting to smile. They maybe have asked God to forgive them but I’m not ready to feel sympathy towards them and my blood runs cold at the thought of what they did. I listened to a leader of this country spew his hateful ignorance and people believing him and I know that hate still runs rampant! God help this country! And God help those who murder and bully out of hate!

Previously watched, but moved to rewatch & comment after your latest video upon visiting his resting place. It is hard to even comprehend what Matthew Shepard experienced in his final days. I also have driven to Laramie & visited these locations. It really is overwhelming to think of those events & the amount of hate & rage that caused his death. While you where telling Matthew’s story, it was apparent how much it affected you. Scott, your candor and empathy is always admirable.

I felt my heart break at the time, it remains painful. The capacity of evil in a human being still shakes me to the core. I have often thought of his parents, how they had to endure the horrific details of their precious son's last night and live with it still. It was like a display of true evil and true compassionate love. The angels that shielded the family from the hate spewing cult from Kansas, the outpouring of love from the world, the outrage and the resulting enlightenment helped, I pray. You did a great job, thank you. Hopefully, we never forget this young man whose life was stolen by unconscionable cretins, never lose the lessons of tolerance, mercy, grace, that is his legacy.

They opened a session, voted, closed the session, opened a new session, voted, closed the session, opened a session and passed it into law with a third vote. The city wasn’t having any of. Justice cannot just be a word that floats around in the social realm, and when you think of the notion of "Justice" on this earth where is it? Mathew Shepard, Michael Brown, Latasha Harlans, Eric Garner and the list goes on Scott of people that have been brutally tortured and murdered in the name of "in-justice" so I am going to have to believe that "Justice" can only come in the afterlife, where oh yes these and other COWARDS will be judged and lets just say that any "torture" here will be a small taste of the eternal TORTURE they will face............................................

Scott, thank you so much for doing this story. I remember when this horrible crime happened. I am a lesbian that lived in Dallas in the late 80's -90's. I have been shot at a drive by , lost jobs, promotions, family and "friends" because of who I am. In May 2019 I married my wife. It was an amazing celebration. Not everyone is going to agree. We all need to agree to disagree. Our differences is what makes America an amazing place. This story just breaks my heart. I had a friend of mine that I worked with. His appearance changed so dramatically within the few days from seeing him that I persisted he go to the hospital. I have regrets about not going with him because the admitted him into ICU and this was 1989. Because he had AIDS and that was such a scary disease but his family blocked anyone from being with him and he died completely alone as his family disowned him. Thankfully, thru the horrible deaths, rejection, and media bringing awareness people have slowly become more aware that it's just differences. I pray people now understand that LGBTQ are regular people. We make good friends, parents, grandparents. We love, hurt and live just like others. Again, thank you Scott for doing all your videos and showing respect. You are teaching others how others show respect. Jewish people have suffered incredible harassment and torture just because of who their lineage is. God bless you and keep doing all the great work.

Scott, you did an amazingly heartfelt job telling this story. Matthew's life was so much more than how it ended, but we do need people (like you) to make sure no one forgets because we, as a human race, cannot allow hate to continue like this. (P.S. It's pretty much always windy in Wyoming. I live 45 minutes from Cheyenne.) Keep up the great content! 👍❤

I had never heard of this young man, what an extremely sad and disturbing story. It's outrageous that even now, in 2019 such vile individuals with such prejudice still exist. I hope those who did it rot in hell. Karma is a wonderful thing and I believe those two evil B's will get theirs. You did a great job with this video, very sympathetically and tastefully (considering the topic) done.
