Glad you enjoyed it. It's often so difficult to see how something is made, especially when it's lots of layers, so I hope this has made my mixed media process easier to understand.
Love your work and really love this video, very informative en inspirational! About the PVA glue: isn't this water dilutable? When ever I use PVA, my work is wrinkling. Any advice on that would be welcome 🙏
Hi yes- wrinkling is a constant problem! I do dilute my PVA with a very small amount of water, as you're right, the more water, the more wrinkling. I have learnt to accept a certain amount of wrinkle and sometimes it even adds a bit to the piece I think. I try to minimise it by using a smooth piece of plastic or grease proof paper to protect the piece as I smooth out the wrinkles with my fist or some sort of tool, which helps somewhat. The other option is to use thinker paper than tissue (Japanese paper for instance hardly wrinkles at all).
Thank you Ruth for this new video! Are you talking about photo transfer? Is it you who make them yourself and in this case how do you make them? Thank you
No, afraid not. I order them from Jackson's (own brand I think), and they only have them in certain sizes (and I can't afford the really big ones anyway). So I settle for the 40x40cms and 50x50cms sizes at the moment.
Thank you for sharing your process, particularly prepping and finishing your pieces. 😊
No problem. I know it's difficult to figure out sometimes what artists have done!
Really like this process and the slivers of gold too. A lovely way to use monoprinted tissue. Thanks.
Great- hope it encourages you in the studio too!
Thank you, Ruth! Inspiring as always! :)
No problem- that's what I aim for!
Thank you for this tour around your working process. I love how you layer different elements. The result is great.
