So I didn't finish that painting, nor did I stick to working on just that one. I'm still considering it a win because the goal was to paint and I did just that. I typically don't like outcome based challenges because I'm not great at them, maybe? I rebel against it almost immediately with those kinda of expectations, feels heavy and not energetic or playful. How about you? Can you work on one painting at a time?

How I feel and what wants to be expressed - so I go with the flow and not resist. Painting reveals itself with each brushstroke. Thank you for the inspiration to just paint away my messiness! Love your artwork & videos. 💚

Thanks so much Sabrina, painting away the messiness is exactly what I needed this week. I was low on studio time and that can really put pressure on, always have to go back to the process of painting and not the outcome. I forget and relearn that almost every single week:)

Sarah, I loved this. The thinking behind your process, how you are responding to the work… it all just feels very real and relatable. It’s exactly what I want to see on TH-cam as an artist. I know there’s the idea we have to finish a piece in one video or worse do it as a tutorial, but I’m most excited about process. Whatever that looks like. So thank you.

Thank you so much Jackie, I really appreciate that encouragement! Right? Tempering our own expectations of what happens in a painting session, let alone while filming:) My relationship with sharing and me still being present in my work, that will evolve over time. For me, process is also the biggest thing I love and a lot of process is the thought and push/pull of decisions and resistance and excitement, the list goes on. Thanks again!

Sarah! I have to say I TOTALLY LOVE the 5:57 point there is a 'whitewashed' like bit on the right canvas. So so good. Made my heart sing. The challenge idea is great if you hold it light enough. I fully understand the need to not look at it for a bit. You have to be careful so you don't have to hide it for a year. LOL ask me how I know. :P So the idea of keeping your eyes fresh is huge. You did well at getting that done overall. I love to see your art. Maybe video the process for yourself and not to post would help you lighten up in front of the camera to get used to it more. Thank you ! Great vlog!

Editing these videos and seeing so many past iterations of a piece of work has been a real teacher! Thank you so much for the kind words, it truly means a lot. Fresh eyes is my mantra and yes, you're right, I want to film more of the painting process so the "feeling watched" isn't an issue:)

I like your work, but I would like to see you actually painting it, not just showing the results & talking about it.

I agree. I'm working on that, thanks for mentioning it!

Studio envy! The light and ceiling height must be such a joy to work in. 🤍

You're right, it is an absolute joy, having that ceiling height feels so good! Thanks!
