    This post was so calming to me in this dry desert I’m in at the moment. It’s happened before , you have to let it be and try and ‘infill’ with nature , places , or mindless ‘faffing’ about . . . And that’s okay !

    I have Nori paste but it is very thick. Do you add water or something else to be able to squeeze it out like you have in this video? Love your style.

      Hi- I don't add water, though I know some people do. I find it becomes too 'wet' to work with with water added. I get mine in a tube from intaglioprintmaker.com and that is quite squeezable, I find.

    I love your style of printmaking and can’t wait for your course next spring - will definitely be signing up! Do you have any plans to show your printmaking from start to finish - as in how you create your photopolymer plate, ink it up & thru the etching press, then bring it back to your home studio to finish out? I’ve used solar plates for photogravure and recently took a photopolymer plate making class - we created a printed image but I love your abstract style and would like to know how to create abstract on the polymer plate! If I can ever get to the UK from Texas taking a workshop with you is HIGH on my bucket list. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge, skill and art, always look forward to your videos 😊

    Hi Ruth. Thanks for sharing your knowledge! Do you think it's possible to use oil paints called Artisan Water by Winsor & Newton? They offer much bigger choice of colors compared to anything explicitly marketed for printmaking, at least where I live.

    Thank you so much for sharing your way to get out of a "low" or block. I think we too often have the impression we have to be productive all days to show that we're working seriously. But the times of rest and relaxing and observing are so important. And we mustn't allow ourselves to be pressured by others or our beliefs. At the beginning of November I complained a bit that I didn't do anything worthwhile (for my art) but as soon as I let this time be, I felt how the inspiration came back and I started creating again. Have a nice week!

    I’m trying not to buy any art supplies for a bit but every time i see your videos i’m so drawn to the way the prints look, they have so much character! I’m guessing the specialist inks would be relatively pricey, is it worth trying this with some cheap oil paint or would i be wasting my time and making a horrible mess do you think?! I’m also working in a domestic space (and i’m clumsy!)…

    • @printingathomewithruthande1868
      @printingathomewithruthande1868 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ha! I'm a messy maker too (though I know the videos don't show that!). I think I have tried this with oil paint before and it worked. You would likely have to really work it into the marks and scratches on your plate, as it's not as 'sticky' as etching ink. But the main thing is it's oil based, so I think it should work. The intaglio inks are a little more (though not massively expensive if you get own brand from places like intaglio printmaker.com), but you can get away with just buying a black, all other colours you can add via monoprint (rolling oil paint colour onto your plate) or adding as collage or chine colle). Just a thought.

    • @printingathomewithruthande1868

      I would say no for drypoint etching- it really needs oil based ink of some sort. See my reply to katerose8393 above- it might be possible to use oil paint. However, as I say above, the good thing is, you really only need a black to start with. Hope that helps.
