Despite it’s cheap looking 3D printed case,i must say this is actually a cool mod, especially to be able to change colors so you don’t have to suffer from bleeding eyes because of that reddish color,
Cool idea. I love playing my Virtual Boy emulator on the Big Screen on a 3D tv. Looks so deep. I wish you could get a virtual boy controller that hooks up via usb. So i could play it on my Sheild TV.
Any chance you know anyone who does this mod as a service in the tri-state area? Or online? I have a virtual boy with one dead lens and I don’t have the technique to pull off this mod but I’d definitely be willing to pay someone to do it for me. Great Video!
Yes, I can certainly do it and my friend Ben Fong from iFixRetro can help. We are both located in New York and you can contact me through Facebook on the Long Island retro gaming expo page
@@LIRetroGaming Good to know, thanks! Do you know of any good 3D printing services I could use? I see a few online but I figured I'd check and see if you had a recommendation!
instead of removing the connector you could have bent the servo emulator connector thats what i did its alot easier :P and for the speaker wire again no need to remove the board connector i just tinned the wire and slipped it in the connector.
I'm glad the virtual boy consolizer is back. Now the $199 one is the already built virtual boy console? So do I need to modify it myself? Is it built and ready to use? And does the product come with the input wires? I can't tell on the back of the case but does it have what I need to do to play it on the tv? Or do I have to also buy the virtual boy to transfer the components, mod it and install it on the new case?
@@LIRetroGaming What if I just want to mod it without the new console case? Is it possible to still play with the same virtual boy console? I saw a video where you can still play on the tv with the original virtual boy. Its just it sticks out of the eyepiece goggles, which is fine by me. I could only afford the virtual tap and the servo emulator. Is that all I need to play on the tv? I can just mod it on the virtual boy and play it as it is?
If you still want to use the original virtual boy then the only thing that you need to buy is the virtual tap kit. The servo emulator is only needed if you consolize it. Check out some of my earlier videos and I did a virtual tap install using the original shell
I'm so close to getting 3d. Trying to combine the left eye in black and red, and the right eye in black and cyan. I connected a VGA to BNC RGBHV , connected the colors to both sides AND the H and V to One side. And I got a simultaneous left and right eye... But the right eye has some random scrolling, sometimes left. Sometimes right, drops after multiple right scrolls, rises after multiple left scrolls. I heard there's an interocular dial. I'm hoping that's a right eye "horizontal hold control". But I don't seem to have access to it. I hired Jose Cruz of New York to do it... (This might be your TH-cam page, or might not) If this works, then ANYONE can play 3d Virtual boy. I was considering console modding ANOTHER VB. Most people never cared about interocular stuff until me. I have no idea how to solder. Since me practicing electronic surgery would do more harm than good, would you recommend my less klutzy brother figure how to adjust the interocular dial.
I know Jose and he is extremely talented. He might be able to figure all of this out! My understanding is that the inter-ocular dial is located on the top of the system. It’s a knob that widens or shortens the spacing between the lenses
Using Emuelec running on an Android TV box with my 3D LG TV, I can play Virtual Boy games in all their 3D glory on my TV. Too bad this console mod is not compatible with 3D TVs.
Fortunately this modification is completely reversible. You don’t do any permanent changes to the original hardware so it can always be installed back in the original shell
So far the owners have kept their shells for exactly this reason. And if they didn’t want it I would keep it for parts. For example, if I came across a virtual boy with a destroyed shell I could use one of these shells to make it look a lot nicer
Incredible, hopefully one day we have something similar for DS / 3DS
Actually someone named Woozle is working on that right now! Hopefully this will be available in the next year or two
Shank mods just made that
This is incredible. You're engineering skills are mind-blowing.
Thanks! Glad that you are enjoying the channel!
Wonderful vid! I've always been curious about the Virtual Boy and I think consolizing it would be the perfect way to get into it!
Thanks! It’s definitely a fun and hassle free way to enjoy those games. Setting up a standard virtual boy is always some thing of a science project
Nah
Amazing stuff! Would you be willing to make and sell these?
Absolutely! Let me know if you would like one and I can help out. My website is 1uprestorations.com
Now that is a great idea you did, lad. You did a great job! Well done!
Thank you very much!
Oh man I'm glad emulation exists to make these games accessible instead of us having to modify old hardware.
Emulating is easier than ever and it’s pretty amazing. Can’t go wrong with that!
I'm subscribing to this channel, so i'll know where to go when i want to do this mod when i get a Virtual Boy. I live in Staten Island Btw
Nice, thanks!
Woah a Long Island retro gaming channel?? Lol where were you when I was doing Game Inspector Adventures?
I’ve been looking for something like this forever!! Please let me know when you’re taking orders! Would love to have one!
Absolutely! I should have my website open back in the first few days of May and I can definitely help
@@LIRetroGaming great! I signed up via the email on the website

It can also be installed in the original virtual boy shell if you want to as well

Another unique video, love it!
Awesome video! thanks for making this.
Thanks and I hope it helps if you’re planning to do this installation!
Love that Gremlins 2 music
If you can turn a virual boy into a console
Then can you turn it into a real vr headset?
Imagine if you could make a handheld Virutal Boy with a 3d screen (maybe use the one from a 3DS), that would be awesome!!!
That would be amazing!
In a way, the 3DS is a spiritual successor to the Virtual Boy but with full color. Think about it.
and this thing is even bigger than a ps2 phat, what an achievement.
Not exactly, you would need 2 of them and then maybe it’s the same size as a phat ps2

Are these cases for sale anywhere? I checked castlemania games but they just have a listing for a preassembled one, and it's out of stock anyway.
Castlemania has them from time to time and the files for 3d printing are also available. So a good 3-D printing service can also make it for you

You also need a virtual boy to install in the new case. Technically there is a small amount of modding that you can see in this video

When will this console be available again?!
Where did you get the pallet switch and other parts at?
All the parts were purchased from Castlemania games
Where did you get the case?
You can get it from Castlemania games
really wish these were still sold
Same here, although it’s still possible to buy the virtual tap
I need this now I want a vb
Soldering sequences was for some reason blacked. Why?
Sorry for that, something went wrong during editing
I dig the content
So where did you get the shell?
You can get it from castlemania games
Wow interesting
Is it still possible to buy a complete kit to make this?
Castlemania will have these for sale
Interesting.
why this video in 480p?
is the consolizer case/box still sold? doesn't seem to be on their site?
The parts might be out of stock right now but yes they still sell it at castlemania games
@@LIRetroGaming any chance you have a link? I love your VB console, but for the life of me I can't find where they have the parts
thanks a ton
Can you make one with RGB out so one can connect it to a CRT?
Yes that is possible
What about connecting it to a modern VR system?
Unfortunately that hasn’t happened yet, but that would be awesome!
probably easier to just emulate virtual boy in your oculus headset or pc

Will it work in 3D if you use a 3D TV?
No, it is two dimensional because only one eye is used for output
How do you put the game in?
The cart slot is covered by a lid in the front
