DK Tropical Freeze is actually possible (excluding Rambi and Minecart sections). This is because of Cranky and Dixie Kongs' abilities in multiplayer. I'll leave a link to my run in the replies.
Cranky's cane would still be considered as jumping, Rambis dismounting not. Before even going in 1-1, you can use the 2 Player mode in order to have Dixie from the start and combined with enemy luring, make it until the tree section. Then however, it is very likely that dismounting shouldn't give you enough height to make it to the platform. Perhaps waiting barely on screen, then dying and hitting DK at the peak of his hitbox should enable Dixie to hover there. 1-1 and everything until 2-4 should therefore be possible (in Funky Mode, with a Death Abuse in 1-4 and by using the ramps in 1-Boss to gain more height). In Funky Mode, there is also and obscure feature called "Death Abuse" which allows you to pass any level for free if you manage to die 8 times there (even in 2 Player). This should work until 2-4, where it would be tricky to find a death. Maybe by dismounting in 2 Player, it could be possible to grab at the left of 2-4, in order to Dixie hover into the pit and maybe despawn DK in order to die 8 times, which if that happens, pretty much all of the game should be doable.
@@LU_Speedruns I personally didn't count Cranky's cane bounce as jumping because it is more similar to bouncing off an enemy than to jumping in my opinion. I did ban death abuse though because skipping levels felt like cheating to me.
Didn't realize nintendo had such a lengthy history of ports, but I knew they couldn't leave well enough alone whenever they do. That's weird there's more games without the main character being playable than with, that's a goofy bit of trivia.
I hate to be 'that' guy, but not all of them are ports. The GBA ones ARE, but the Donkey Kong Land games on Game Boy have original levels and just use characters, level themes etc. from their SNES counterparts.
I'm pretty sure 1-1 in tropical freeze would be possible at the beginning at least if you'd go into the menu and equip Dixie in 2 Player before before starting 1-1. You could use the platform perhaps with enemy luring in order to get 2 maximum Dixie hovers with holding A (would just result in a higher neutral bop) and use the two enemies there. Then for the platforms you could use the Dixie hovers in order to go up there. 1-1 is likely still impossible though due to the section right before the tree. there is no way to gain height there and dismounting would maybe be our only hope with Dixie with luring one of the birds into the closed area (after pulling to reveal the platforms) to get a neutral bounce to reach the platforms. Then, probably all of world 1 should be doable and maybe most until 2-4 (beginning). In theory though, there is a more lame, but also doable solution to all of this that should make this game perhaps entirely beatable. In Funky Mode, if you die 8 times in a row, you can just skip the current level (without jumping most of the times) to then only having to do the boss stages. Then, having access to the shop, we could also buy a bunch of items (5 slots in Funky Mode) which should enable some potential later on.
The first Donkey Kong game has *Cranky Kong* as the evil guy. He was known as Donkey Kong at the time, but he's not the one everyone refers to as Donkey Kong now.
I've been recently wondering when you will reach a million subscribers. You've been making high quality TH-cam videos for YEARS, yet you still didn't reach a million.
In DK for Game Boy, if you press right and then quickly press left (or vice versa), Mario will do a side flip. It gives him more height than a normal jump, does cost a single A press, and is worth 100% for this holiday season.
so many wonderful games, I feel like DK64, Jungle Beat, Jungle Climber and even Tropical are underrated despite being so good. Anyway, you skip Konga series, Barrel Blast, Diddy Kong Racing (64 and DS) and Pilot, I think you would have finished those, maybe not barrel blast, but the others I think so
On the original arcade version of Donkey Kong, after the first level, it goes straight to the collapsing girders level, so you can defeat DK, and then it starts over with the first level, and then the bouncing springs (and on the next round all four levels appear). However, on the second version of the first level, DK throws the first barrel diagonally so that it lands in front of you, and you have to jump over it. But still, you could at least beat DK before that. (Though the way the fires move in this version, it will be very hard).
Donkey Kong Land on the GB, the first game, actually isn't a remake of DKC. It's a completely new game with new levels, new worlds, new enemies and new game mechanics. It's actually set up as more of a pseudo-sequel to DKC. DKL2 and DKL3, however, yes, you can say those are attempted remakes of their SNES counterparts (and imo are worse games for it).
They’re releasing a Switch version of Donkey Kong Country Returns next year and I bet you would fail to beat it without jumping right at the beginning once again
DK Jungle Climber in my opinion is pretty underappreciated. Could you maybe try it without collecting a jewel, banana coin or even a banana? It would be interesting in my opinion for sure.
In the Xenoblade Chronicles games you can jump, but I don't know if it's something actually necessary in order to beat the game, so it would be cool to see you try it...
* The NES port that you played of Donkey Kong is not the original game - that one is missing the second level entirely and skips straight to the third one. * Donkey Kong Land is in no way a remake of DKC, it's a fully original game - unlike DKL2 and 3 which are more like ports (although the level designs are still unique).
Finally, someone who just accepts that mario and pauline are themselves in the original donkey kong, as nintendo has consistently stated since the game released
