Larry Bird is the only player to average at least 20 points, 10 boards, and 5 assists a game for his career.

What about Wilt Chamberlain? You can make a case for him being the greatest too.
During his prime, Wilt Chamberlain dominated the Sport of Basketball so much thatbthey had to change the rules themselves to try and nuetralize what he was doing.
He had seasons where he averaged 50-points-per-game and 40-rebounds-per-game.
He set more basketball records than anyone else ever did, and many of them are still standing today.

I don't think you need to remind Red about Chamberlain's resume. When he leaves Wilt off, it's not by accident.

Thank you! I’m getting tired of people with their best ever/ GOAT list and not even mentioning Wilt. Most dominant player ever!

He's on his own list, untouchable by the others.

Larry Legend no doubt about it!

Someone should have asked Red Auerbach what he say in Bird that nobody else did as the reason for drafting him as a junior in college.

Any of those 3 could start on my team. 😂

Larry played basketball because he loved the game and loved to win... He would have played it for free just to get the bragging rights! It just happened that he could get paid playing the game he loved!

Bird inspired kids to work hard and give their all. I know I was heavily influenced by his hustle. Kids in highschool called me "all-star" disparagingly because i would try so hard at all the sports.

Johnson was great but not Russell, Bird , Jordan great. Btw, Jordan busted his ass both side’s of the court and quicker than Everyone

He always will tell you his guy was best. He could not get Wilt, so he talked him down

Magic Johnson is way overrated, and does not even belong in the conversation. Michael Jordan BLOWS Johnson away.

Out of curiosity, do you put Bird in Jordan’s league?

You could make a case among those 5 because the ACTUAL greatest is on a list of his own: WILT CHAMBERLAIN

We all know that Magic had a better career than Bird. C'mon, Red!

Yes and no. Larry did NOT have arguably the greatest player in history, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Kevin McHale was no Kareem.

Easy in the lower quality western conference. Magic was not even close to Larry in nearly every aspect of the game.

Depends on your definition of career, I suppose, but you don't get much better than being 3x (in a row) MVP of the year, Coach of the year, and Executive of the Year. And isn't Bird currently the only one to have done that? Yeah....Bird did ok.

@@jlgavitt Exactly, you forgot to mention that he also became rookie of the year after the biggest turnaround of his team the league ever saw.

      Yes!
