I am Asian American and grew up with a decided dearth of people who looked like me on television who weren’t depicted as losers and nerds, or if lucky, as a lifetime martial artist who existed for the white lead to eventually defeat after practicing martial arts for a few weeks via montage. Seeing someone like Grant, a competent, fun loving part of a team was something I would have loved to see as a kid, and I hope his presence in tv helped inspire a whole generation of future Asian American actors and actresses and people in the media as he helped pave the way for them.

Well I just heard the news. Absolutely devastated. He was my favourite personality on the show as he didn't try to "steal" it but he was still a funny dude. So sad. Life takes the good ones far too young. God Bless Grant rest in peace.

I grew up watching him as he came onto Mythbusters and loved him and his personality. Have even been getting into his new show White Rabbit Project 🐇. I've been able to introduce my daughter to him this way. Truly a terrible loss to many, many people. Rest in piece grant, you've done so much for this world.

Granted, sidewalks aren't safe either. lumberjacks have one of the most dangerous jobs in the world (~1/200 chance of death on the job). Their job is to make heavy objects fall. Have you been around large falling objects? Have you seen the insurance rates for anyone working around cranes/forklifts. My grandpa's company pays ~60$/hr in insurance per employee because cranes and forklifts. If they didn't have those, I believe the rates would be ~20$/hr. Insurance is based of the likelihood of an injury and the cost of said injury, with that high of rates, it shows the rate and cost are VERY high.

i understand that youve probably have not worked around heavy equipment but what happened in that video is a damn close call. Imagine if that 800 lb piece of steel rolled one more time? He would have been pinned down by it. The crushing factor on his legs could have easily killed him especially because you have no idea when he could have received help. Life in trades like this is easily taken away. Since ive been a welder, ive known of 5 men who have died. That is only a couple years.
@@JamesTTierce been there. 300 lbs roll tipped over me (just like in the video) broke both my fib and tib bones on my leg (by myself). Safety boots did their job thoug, I was able to get my foot out safely.

The fact that Adam and so much of the build team worked together on star wars for a time before mythbusters is really interesting to me. It's one of those cool details we find out as adults I guess. Grant had such an influence on so much in my life. RIP GRANT it hurts that I'll never get to meet you at a con and thank you for all of your work 💔💔💔

You know I really didn’t feel like 2020 was to bad of a year until now. Quite honestly I’ve felt that I could “manage” every tragic event of 2020, but this hits noticeably harder than anything that has happened yet. Grant had an amazing impact on me, growing my passion for electronics and electrical engineering. Out of every mythbusters cast member he was the one I empathized with most. He was a great man who inspired the next generation to engineer, make, and invent. You will be forever remembered and missed by me and the millions you inspired throughout your life. Good bye.

It is very sad that Grant Imahara is gone. I pretty sure I've watched every episode of Myth Busters at least one time, and of all the great personalities that was on the show Grant was one of my favourites.
I remember one time he was making some sort of decapitation weapon based on an old kung fu movie. He built hidden blades in it that would swing out when he pulled the string back. He tested it on a table and had it WAY TOO CLOSE. I don't exactly remember how close it was but it could have easily gutted him. Glad you're still with us Grant lol. Keep making awesome/badass stuff but please be careful haha

Just got the news of his untimely passing, very bizarre and sad. The late late show was the only talk show I always wanted to watch and I remember being pleasantly surprised to find out my fellow yellow mythbuster rep Grant created Geoff. It always made me feel good growing up seeing a smart, engineering type dude getting mainstream media attention and being entertaining to boot. RIP Grant Imahara, your creations and influence shall live on.

I remember one time he was making some sort of decapitation weapon based on an old kung fu movie. He built hidden blades in it that would swing out when he pulled the string back. He tested it on a table and had it WAY TOO CLOSE. I don't exactly remember how close it was but it could have easily gutted him. Glad you're still with us Grant lol. Keep making awesome/badass stuff but please be careful haha

She had more cajones than the rest of the crew combined. Over 400mph multiple times. I wont speak ill of the dead but that spider video was not nearly fatal.
Just got the news of his untimely passing, very bizarre and sad. The late late show was the only talk show I always wanted to watch and I remember being pleasantly surprised to find out my fellow yellow mythbuster rep Grant created Geoff. It always made me feel good growing up seeing a smart, engineering type dude getting mainstream media attention and being entertaining to boot.
RIP Grant Imahara, your creations and influence shall live on.

Got to meet Grant recently, my daughter is a big fan. He was very polite, gracious and very proud of his accomplishments.
