- We went behind the scenes with former MythBusters star Adam Savage for his new series Savage Builds. In the first episode Adam builds a titanium Iron Man suit modeled directly from Marvel Studios, with the hopes of actually flying it.
Savage Builds airs on the Discovery Channel before airing again on the Science Channel.

This literally brings tears to my eyes. The brilliance and coolness is just.... unfathomable.
Is it just me, or is the fact that the real life Mk 1 Iron Man suit isn't as bulky as the cinematic one just absolutely amazing?
This is the mark 2, I think. The mark 1 is the one Tony made in the cave, this one he made in his lab.

probably not, cuase shooting the jets would likely mean certain death
Bold of you to assume they would ask
If they weaponized it they would/should make the thrusters detachable so that way you could go from traveling to combat ready in just a few moments. I say that based off of today's tech atleast, maybe in the future with further R&D they could make one badass suit in the right hands.

R11AD I used them!
When Gravity Industries created their jet suit they originally had thrusters on the legs and arms just like Iron Man but it kept flipping the pilot over on his rear end.
So instead they settled for the arms being the main thrusters and the legs had to dangle below.
When they started filming Iron Man they put Robert Downey Junior in a harness to film him flying around and found something similar with the harness.
The arms had to support most of the weight while the legs simply hung below other wise he kept flipping over.
The main thruster is on the back now. The thrusters on arms provide the balance and partial lift
Might wanna re-watch the documentary on it. To get the right motion of being supported in mid-air by one's lower half, the result was a harness that pulled up from the feet, with the cables stabilized at the waist.

Edit-sorry it was some technical issue,I didn't understand the quotation 🐒🐒
We handle it by not handling it
Cause ironman can fly
If he could reach that high!
This is just awsome to watch. Every technology just needs to be improved over time. Get smaller cheaper and overall better. Imaging having two improved little versions of those engines in the back, one on each arm and leg. That makes it super harder to use probably but that should make an Ironman suit almost identical to Tony's.
He actually talked about why there's no jet engine on the legs: during liftoff they're way too close to the ground and can damage it, and in the air your feet instinctively start to pedal and you lose control
This reminds me of the story of someone watching Tom Cruise's film 'Minority Report' in 2002 and seeing Tom use his hands to 'scroll' past pages of a giant computer screen and then someone designing the smartphone 'swipe' concept three years later...and then Steven Jobs unveiling the technology on stage in 2007.

It even gives an incredible amount of protection.
I'm sure they already thought of it but to make the helmet work more like that of Tony's they could set up a system like the oculus. Bunch of cameras on the outside broadcast an image on the inside instead of the tiny eye holes. Just a thought
Funny how they move with the suit on looks more like CGI than the actual movie.
It has almost all its hinges done wrong, as well as breastplate articulation. Why don't this artists study medieval armor, where most of this issues were already solved?
@@solarissv777 The movies had the hinges on sliding underpinning (that was somehow still armored?) and this version had those parts bolted together without any sliding with his motion. I think that the adjusted the design because they assumed the bolts were a single layer instead of looking at how the move had the parts move and seeing that it was a layered device (though the movie uses the inner layers for the motors, there were some parts for articulation.)
@@MrEmiXaM I mean, they printed this with a 3d printer and had lift off.
