the first time i EVER heard this song was at a classical music show in Italy when i was visiting my grandmother, i asked her about this song, about why its sounded so "scary" she told me that this song usually appears when something fatal happens in your life. and as a kid i shrugged it off and as i grew up i had grown to love classical music. but here is the thing 20yrs later, i was thinking about this song, i kept thinking about the name, then one day the name pop'd in my head and i automatically looked it up and heard it and it brought back memories with my grandmother, a few day later as i was going to listen to it again it was loading for a while, but then my dad opens my door and walked in my room with a grim look and then sat on my bed and said to me "son grandma passed away today...." RIGHT then the computer played this song. it may seem funny to others but it was sad VERY sad , coincidental? maybe, who knows. but i finally learned the reason why this song is so grim it's that this song is sung in mass for the dead.
I understand this happened about a month ago and I am sorry to hear that you Grandmother passed away. Yes this is a Requim for a Funeral and the name translates to from Latin to “the Day of Wrath” you should look up the Lacrimosa and Lex Tremende which go with this priceless composition. In fact Mozart never finished the Requiem and died while composing it.
@@bozartspianoarchive3546 Are you slow in general or just uneducated? This is a song because a female person is singing, who would have thought. There is nothing wrong in saying that this piece is a song.

“Dies irae, dies illa Solvet seculum in favilla Quantos tremor est futurus Quando judex est venturus Cuncta scripte discussurus” W. A. Mozart, Requiem III. Dies Irae
The effect of the repetition of this particular section of the Requiem is so powerful! Bravo! I listened to all of the 15 minutes as if I was under hypnosis! Even if I had listened to this many many times! Fantastic!
A true Mozart masterpiece & listen to it time & time I would love to have this as a stage beat & destroy all my competition like Wolfgang Krauser of fatal fury

In fact that requiem has surelly been completed by Antonio Salieri... Sussmayer, who is supposed to have done the job was absolutly unable to do it! But did you know that Sussmayer was also a pupil of Salieri? Unlike Sussmayer, Antonio Salieri was enough talented to reach the level of quality of composition of the parts left missing by Mozart. Task first entrusted by Mozart's widow to the one her husband considered his most talented pupil: Anton Eberl. But Eberl declined the proposal by declaring himself not competent enough! It was therefore certainly not Sussmayer, whom Mozart despised so much he found him a nobody who could have done this job so brilliantly.

The Dies Irae is a warning to us, of death, judgement, heaven, hell. I enjoy listening to it while preparing for confession. This is reality.
