Hey mate bridge the sense resistors on that driver and the SFT-40 will do 9.5 amps with a high drain cell . It's the same driver I am using in this light. These are great LEDs.
Distance depends on the light its in. Cd per mm i am not sure i cant test that, but the SFT-40 about double the throw of of the SST-40. So in a C8 the SST-40 will do around 80-90kcd and the SFT-40 will do 160+ kcd.
I just bought a Fenix Bc26r(1600 Lumens) bike light, it has a Luminus SST-40 And I have another Magicshine Allty1000(1000 Lumens) light that has a CREE XP-L V6, Do you know how efficient it is compared to this one? In terms of light output, efficiency, performance, etc, which one is better and why?
They should be fairly equal in lumens per watt, the XPL is rated to around 1150 lumens @ 3 amps for the highest bin. The SST-40 can do up to 1800 lumens @ 5 amps. Over driven the SST-40 will be brighter by a few hundred lumens and should be able to sustain that output better as it's a bigger foot print of a LED. I can't say which will be better as I don't own them but both LEDs are great. The Cree XPL 2 has been out for a few years now so you don't see the XPL in that many lights while the SST-40 is a bit newer.
The light in the video is a Convoy C8 but you can use any generic C8, use the BLF A6 driver which is a direct drive. The LED is the Luminus SFT-40 , Easiest way to build the light would be to buy following parts. I just put an SFT40 into my C8+ with 5A convoy driver. Measured throw at 813m with a UNI-T UT383s. Such an amazing led!

Hey mate I am using a BLF A6 driver, it's a direct drive driver so you get max output.

Depends on what you want to use it for, generally I would say yes the SFT-40 is better.

Should be the same price as the XML 2 C8, the LED alone can be bought for around 4-6 USD.
