This place would never have been on my radar in a million years if it hadn't been for your videos. My knowledge, as I suspect like many others, of Indonesia, pretty much being limited to Bali.

A really beautiful place! Traveled in Indonesia 35 years ago some in Java and Bali but mostly the Maluku Islands. Indonesia is so beautiful! Only tourists then were in Bali and not many at that. So glad to see still some not heavily touristed locations there.

That looks really nice. I just returned from Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia. I crashed a scooter on Lombok in October and I’m still wearing a cast. It’s a long way from Southern Ontario but well worth the effort. Great channel, thanks!

I have a story. Circa 1990 or 91, we lived in Bangkok and went to, I believe, Koh Samet with family friends. That evening one friend got bitten by a jellyfish on the beach, they had to call the boat to take us back (+20km to hospital in Rayong), but halfway through the boat stalled, began to take on water and they started handing out life jackets... I haven't volunteered for an island setting ever since. Childhood trauma lol... but every vision of paradise is an opportunity to reconsider, isn't it? Thanks for all the visions :)
This place reminds me of the Tortuga Club on Cayman Brac. Best vaca ever with family. It was 50 years ago and I was 12. I even got a welcome drink and I asked for a second. Little did I know what rum was at 12 but I had the happiest day of my life.
What a beautifully idyllic place, and so cheap too! It did take my London ear a moment to work out that you were saying "yachties" and not "Yardies". I'll leave you to Google that, assuming you don't already know! 😅

Yes please! Deserted island any day. Each video makes me appreciate the people, views, food and pets. Nothing better than powdery white sand in your toes. Great footage even without the GoPro. @@visioninprint Yes, Jakarta or Singapore... But you might want to take domestic flight from Jakarta to the island... I heard there is a ferry from Singapore to Belitung, but i believe could take forever to get to the island.

Bali such a touristy area, the development there are massive like hotel, bar, etc. but Belitung pretty much chill and the roads are better than other province in all of indonesia, low criminal rate so pretty much save,just local indonesian know how beautiful this islands, also have UNESCO GLOBAL geopark u can visit.
This is a true paradise and I am very much thankful for showing us this island as i was planning to go Phuket but its too crowded and hotel prices are so high... I guess i am coming here :D

The best time to come to Belitung is... between May - September.

oddly, didn't get any mossie bites (nor sand fleas) also encountered no marauding monkeys or other wildlife in the loo lol

Nice video as always. Quite entertaining and useful. A drone on the sand is not so good tho. The sand can get into places where it may cause problems. I learned to take off from my hand and land on my hand. At first it is a bit scary but once you get the hang of it it is super handy. Thx for the tons of videos you made already. I like your style :).

Indonesia itself has more than 17000 tropical islands, and the country wider than USA mainland with the richest marine biodiversity ever recorded on earth , of course bali as a province in indonesia cannot be compared with the whole of the country , hope u can find pure pristine island all across indonesia . maybe thailand has better nightlife , but But its natural beauty cannot match the beauty that Indonesia has to offer, Indonesia has almost all the geographical features.

The best time is between summer april - august here in indonesia, right now is rainy season, also avoid national holiday season like new year, Eid Al-Fitr in mid - april and school holidays around jun - july, That's the perfect time. Cheers !

I have heard of this island and I'm actually going to Indonesia in July. If I knew how aamzing it was, I would have gone there instead. It is not too far from Sumatra I guess

Don't feel guilty to show this video. Most of bules (Foreigners from Western Countries) come to Southeast Asia to have parties. So this place is just for a small amount kind of people. Because most of partiy cultures in Indonesia are in Bali.

You can fly to Jakarta, go to the Jakarta Bay Area and take the Belitung Island Tour (they provide cruise from Jakarta) or by plane

I hate beaches with a hunch of boats pulled up or just floating a few meters off sand. You can't swim. It looks ugly. That's one thing I really miss about Australian beaches.....clear and just sand and water for your enjoyment. No hustlers on the beaches either, trying to sell you stuff. Thanks for the video. 🤙🏻

Hi nice video is your drone the mini 2 or mini 2 SE as the mini 2 isn't the cheap one the mini 2 SE is the cheaper on but both are excellent choices

Yep but 4k only 30 fps however note I accidentally filmed in 1080/60 when I thought it was set on 2.7k... doh! Ah well...
@@SideTripLife to be honest I would have bought the mini SE if they where available like I said the SE is a great 38mph drone like the mini 2 just cheaper because it's only 2.7k but the camera photo resolution is the same that dji shop/guy where was he located again I'll be sure to mention you to him when visiting
I recently picked up a new mini 4 pro and love it. I cringed a little when he landed in the sand.

If you love this place you'll likely to love the whole chain of Riau islands (Tarempa, Letung, Natuna, Serasan etc) though only if you feel adventurous enough cause reaching those islands might prove a challenge!

@@SideTripLife Riau *Kepri* is the nickname for the *Provinsi Kepulauan Riau* which literally means Riau Archipelago Province. It is an archipelago province within an archipelago nation. The Anambas Islands there are similar to Belitung, perhaps even quieter and suit you better

lol might be the odd harmless white tipped reef shark but no bites recorded here. In fact, according to Shark-Utopia site, starting in 1898 to present there's been an all time total of 23 incidents in the whole of Indonesia (vs 16 in just 1 year in Florida;) Most of the Indo ones occurred on Bali North of Canggu at Balian. Still, a ridiculously small chance (approx 1 in 4 million globally vs 1 in 90 of a car accident;) There are some Salt Water Crocs hereabouts but unless a tourist decides to go wading through THEIR habitat say in a remote mangrove estuary, or up a muddy isolated river (both highly unlikely) again very slim chance.

The islands of Java and Sumatra tend to block big swells so not ideal for surfing. However, next week Mentawai Islands series begins, the 'quiet' most beautiful and best surf in Indonesia, so perhaps stay tuned... STL
