    Great content as always. I especially like that you show the various foods and household items in the stores you visit. I think that sets your channel apart from so many others that just show statistics of the cost of living in places like Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam. I might be in the minority, but I like your longer videos.

    A minor point, but you're surprisingly right about the reliability of the electricity there (here). I spent my first eight months in Thailand on Phuket. They regularly have pretty impressive thunder storms there in monsoon season. Never saw the power get knocked off even once. I lived 30 years on the East coast of the US with the same sort of T-storms in summer, and the power went out at least once or twice a month.

    Have been watching A LOT of your videos over the last few weeks! Also Canadian, and really appreciate the CAD prices that you post for everything! Also love seeing the different accommodations etc. Used to sell electric cars, so also cool to see the latest there! P.S. Doesn't make a difference to me, personally, to know which camera/phone you're using. All of it is great!!

    First time comment. Subscribed. I SO appreciate your videos of PKK. I've been researching the area for months after being scared off of Chaing Mai due to the fire season (lived through that in Oregon). While there are a few expats in PKK, their content seems repetitive and eventually turns into a personal journal rather than informative coverage of the community. Yes, I am more interested in a house - but I have three small pets so.... there's that. I like that you expose us to more than the regulars four or five favorite bars and restaurants. Personally, I hope you decide to settle in there a while. Would love more quality content from PKK.

    • @SideTripLife
      @SideTripLife  ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Thanks kindly for the sub. Actually I think the local vloggers do a pretty good job of it, much better than I could. To be fair, I've just swooped in and filmed a series vs living there making day to day vids. If I were to film day to day, likely both content and quality would suffer greatly, however, not my pocketbook. The math goes something like this: Avg vlog makes approx $100 per 10k-15k views (give/take a few bucks, also depends on seasons etc). So, filming daily and getting say 15k views per vid over 4 weeks would amount to $3000 month (+add another 50%++ more $$ for past vids also earning ongoing). That's somewhat tempting to be honest but think I'll stick with 1 per week and hopefully viewers get better quality don't mind less quantity. STL

    Hi STL. I've heard you say how much you love PKK several times now. It seems to have really captured your imagination as will as renewed fond memories. I suspect you will continue to explore down the coast, but I doubt you'll find any place that lights you up as much 🙂 Do you have a poll going of where we think you'll eventually pick?
    Also, as an FYI, that A/C train you ask about at around 7:15 in the video is the #40 train that you show on screen, which on the schedule passes through PKK at 15:00 and arrives Krung Thep Aphiwat at 20:30. You asked her in Thai how many hours (as opposed to what time), which is why she gave the travel time of five and 1/2 hours instead of the scheduled departure time of 3 pm. Cheers.

      @สุทธิศักดิ์มธุรพงศากุล ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@bijanbayne3259
      About 2 hours from Bangkok to Jomtien. If you take the motorway but probably use the normal highway, it will take no more than 2.5 hours because the traffic will be stuck in the city. and a slightly more indirect route
      But if driving from Bangkok to Hua Hin city, it takes about 2.5 hours to 3 hours depending on the depth and speed of the car you drive but the car rarely gets stuck. But if you go to Prachuap town, you have to drive for about 1 hour or from Bangkok for about 3 5- 4 hours.

    More than "endured". Appreciate what you do Sir.
    My mum and sister have been living in Phuket for a couple years, and my mum now wants to live in Hua Hin for a while. So, after seeing the PKK videos I am going to head there when we look at places for her in HH.
    Keen to move some of the money we've made in property in Indiana to Thailand. This area looks great. I'm 50 in three years and plan to leave the UK, if this area is as great as it seems, I'm there!
    Thanks again for what you do.

      I was thinking and maybe four years when my German Shepherd probably will be gone. Then I found out that you can import dogs into Thailand. I'm 65 and living a great life in my 40 ft motor coach in the US, but I've lived here all my life and would love to get over there before I need hip surgery or something. So I decided to go over there during the month of February and these videos really help try to plan. If I like it over there I'm out of here. bring my doggy, get a place near the beach where I can walk and ride bikes and have quiet.

    PKK is great and I love the shopping segments. I spent my teens in Bangkok and retail is one of my favorite things about Thailand. It's great to see what the malls are like, and get a price check to boot. You are 'engaging' with Thailand in the same way we did when we lived there as residents, unlike travel bloggers who use it as just another generic base - and that makes for great content. Thank you.
    My recollection is CP had to sell Lotus to Tesco in the 90s financial crisis, and they bought it back from Tesco who wanted to exit Asia. I just hope Lotus still has half-price sales with 99B black polo shirts lol

    Thanks again. I am 79 and in very good health. That looks great for me. Maybe soon. But higher prices in high season?

    Where I live in the Washington, DC area, a DQ cone costs about $5. Anything under $1 is crazy!

    I love it “I stayed here five years ago and the price hasn’t changed. “ 😂
    Now, it will change for sure 👍
    Never remind them that it’s cheap.

    Good Afternoon from Maryland STL we enjoy your videos. Actually you were the first vlogger we started following and your love of Thailand was contagious now my wife and I are looking to move there next summer or early fall here. One note I think you have an exhaust leak or something going on with your exhaust lol sounds like you got a muscle car lol anyway keep doing what you do it has inspired us to sell everything and move to Thailand ❤

    Hello from Manitoba! I love your humoUr. Muppets clip was great. Great video, but too short. I feel the same about shopping....get me outta here! But pretty good price for that nice couch hey? Not bad anyway.
    I was in Thailand for my first time in March/April 2023. How did you learn the language? It seems difficult to me. Cheers.

    Mate, I am quickly falling in love with PKK watching your videos. I need to visit both PKK and Phang Nga, I can see myself living in either one and being very happy. Great content as always, love your work.
