To the guys saying this can't happen anymore, I'm in Brave Collective and we got hit by one of these a couple weeks ago during a roam. The best part is, about 10 minutes prior someone on comms had remarked that "Rooks and Kings seem pretty inactive at the moment." Now we have a rule about not invoking their name lest they suddenly appear and pipebomb us.
Rooks and Kings in Rokh Battleships used smartbombs, an area of effect weapons to take out an entire fleet of battlecruisers at once. Then, after nearly all targets had been destroyed they used micro jump drives to leap forward 100km so that any survivors wouldn't catch them. MJDs are only usable on battleship class ships and the smartbombs being AoE also did damage to each other, but you'll see that they had specific dmg resisting modules so they didnt kill themselves.
She saw it some time ago :) It was originally shared between the participants and a few who wanted to see our POV of events, and more recently given to an interviewer as part of the article now linked in vid description, about a thousand ships pipebombed over a month or two in winter.
a bubble was popped, depending on its position it can suck players into them at a certain location. A ship with 8 smartbombs was carfully placed so that when the fleet landed from warp, they were all ontop of him. you saw the rest.
From what I know about bubble mechanics, the buble went up just before the HBC fleet went into warp, you can even some HBC ships on the gate, they warped before the bubble went up. Then RnK jumped in their SB-Rokhs, probably on the very edge of the bubble. But as I have only theoretical experience on the matter, I could of course be totally wrong.
Basically, a fleet of unsuspecting enemies warped onto a group of guys who were dropping smartbombs. Smartbombs are like landmines that explode around your ship without doing any damage, and they go off every few seconds. A dozen or so ships were using them at once, and the poo fleet that warped in got caught in the middle.
Yep... the placement of their Bubble causes their warp to get cut short. They end up too far from the Gate to get out of the system, but right in the middle of the smart bombs.
I did 68FT, I did Asakai, I did many fights with more than 2000 ppl in local... But this is still the best video of EVE pvp I've ever seen guys, even with awoxing... GF
As I'm not particularly familiar with intercept doctrine in EVE operations, I'm interested in finding out how you guys find out where these fleets are headed.
its mostly knowing the region like the back of your hand and cutting them off at the pass. when your in an area for months you know where a the gate after the next two is heading without even looking at the map.
I mean knowing what their destination is Like do they have scouts at the other gates or do they shadow them until they only have one gate to jump through?
Kilel Six In this particular instance it looks like Rooks had a spy running with the target fleet. If not, it's also very easy to track and predict a fleets movement through consideration of what assets they may or may not be going after or if they were returning to their home system. Rooks as a whole are awe-inspiring at how calculated their movements can be, which is what K-Space is all about.
ThunderWindz some of the ts records they get are because people after the fact know its gonna be in a vidbr later so they want their side of the story told. its not always spies this and that sometimes its people who are good sports.
it's pretty simple.... especially if the fleet is scouting 'PROPERLY' with the scout one up on the fleet. between the time that the scout leaves local and the rest of the fleet initiates warp, you decloak your sabre, bubble, cyno and bomb.
RnK and their bottomless bag of babmboozling tactics is always entertaining. How much raw havoc, that such a small group of people can cause to the biggest, badest alliances ever to have joined the game. It does amaze me. If I was wearing a hat, I would doff it in honor of the tacticians and madmen of RnK that plot and plan and scheme up their wild ideas.
They have a bubble which intercepts their warp landing point (they had a cloaked scout on gate) when the majority of them warp they lit the cyno (beacon for the titan [space penis] so all the ships could use it to jump through to that beacon. they have smartbombs (the pretty lights ^^) and resistance so their carrier can heal them.
How fitting, "a bit of the old ultraviolence" to good old Henry Purcells "Music for the Burial of Queen Mary". (which btw is the theme used for Deadmau5 Clockwork - /watch?v=K7qlOK1CHMQ )
Long story short, the big pic is a group laying in wait near the exit. The small pic is a group warping to that exit, but getting caught too far away. Big pic is using AOE to kill everything in range, namely the small pic. The end =)
Yeah, like the second person that replied to me had mentioned that and it twigged. But since my comment is popular... it's been answered over a dozen times. and even today, I log into youtube and someone new tells me... "It was uploaded as private, and then made public later... NOOB!" I added the Noob for comedic effect. But that's how I read it :)
Bros in CFC and other alliances - yes you're all bros cause you all give gfs - might be creating content... but quality content you can always find only in elite pvp groups like that. I couldn't give two fucks about the war in fountain and TEST's demise - you'll never be actually missed guys as an alliance. However I find myself checking RnK's website and YT channel on a weekly basis to see if a new video is up. Thank you for all of your amazing work guys... you are the reason i got into eve
You're gonna take a very long time to learn about what's happening in this video. Infact unless you're in Nullsec I doubt anything this video shows you will ever encounter.

8 years later and we still have that rule
Dat resignation in his voice.
The question wasn't "Who Died?" it was "Did anyone survive?"

still makes me chuckle...I fucking love you guys
CVA Salutes you for your valiant efforts in Providence!
Big props to HBC for being such good sports. EVE is an epic game

Beautiful. Love how we can hear comms on both sides, hope to see more of that!

I've died in 2 RnK pipebombs in the past. Nice to see that are still a thing, keep up the good work. :)
"I'm in an Oracle, I don't know what to do." EVE is dead.

you sir, are completely correct.
To watch RnK is like watching great Art
According to the article in the link, this video was probably on private for awhile until becoming public just a few days ago.

Kilel Six they have spies.. how you think they get the TS intel? :)
ThunderWindz

I'd just like to commend you for giving a newbro an informative and simple answer. :) Better than "You wouldn't understand."
That's Xerc, he's a pretty cool guy.
As you can see at the beginning 'By request at new year' this was available to corp months ago, a late Christmas present or something...
wowzer... well played sir.well played
10/10 would watch a VidBR

I've been away from EVE for so I long, I didn't even know Micro Jump Drives were a thing... and damn do they look like a sexy thing.
I feel the same, im assuming they just meant they did a micro jump, in the same grid to like 250k+ away and then jumped out from there.
loving the disco rokhs
LOl, "I'm in an oracle and don't know what to do.."
"I GO BOOM"
The two types of eve players
For the love of god please tell me you frapsed catching Vee's harpy fleet, that was beautiful
The funeral dirge was a nice touch.
How fitting, "a bit of the old ultraviolence" to good old Henry Purcells "Music for the Burial of Queen Mary". (which btw is the theme used for Deadmau5 Clockwork - /watch?v=K7qlOK1CHMQ )
Basically. Except that they placed the bubble slightly underneath / behind the gate, the HBC fleet still would have been too far away.
Delectable, sumptuous,.. brief.
you caught razor out with this last night, i lol'd.
"Viddy well, little brother. Viddy well."
We whelped a few teir3 snipe fleets with MJD it's hilarious people generally have no idea how to deal with them
*Tucker Voice* "I'm like superman, I know when I'm needed"

Haven't heard about these for a while, are they still active?
Yeah, like the second person that replied to me had mentioned that and it twigged.

when i see a RnK video in subs... i freak out. Keep up the awesome vids!
Pretty fireworks.
If I'm not wrong.. it was about 106 kills, 0 losses
The video was probably unlisted for awhile and then was published. IDK how TH-cam deals with that though.
I like how they all surrendered to the fact they all going to die :D thumbs up for them being calm all the time
What the hell is the name of that tune in the beginning?!?! It's been bothering me for a week now!!
you're doing god's work son, killing HBC
Epic, R&K allway dramatic keep it up
So, the SB ships jumped in just as the target fleet entered their warp (?), dropped bubble, burned to the edge. Is that right?
That feel... I know it all too well...
Because that was the first time I had a look at the video :)

If i could like this more then once it would be great
One more thing. Listen again: approach the gate or We're all gonna die.
Fit gamma crystals to your laser ships and you too can fire ion cannons! :D
BR avaible? :D
After all those years?
honey badger coalition, its a collection of 10k players biggest in the game
formation of a star? lol
It's the theme from A Clockwork Orange.
thats what happens when you have a salad coalition, if it survive though it can be a menace to the game
WOOT that made my night ty for the vid
Yeah it's a bit difficult to like other smartbombing videos when you compare it to that one.
Damn it Xer, your everywhere. xD (this is Viscar)
Ah I remember welpfleets. I lost a ship on one, I reported it and got told "welp"
Good job!
so RnK pulled them out of warp early and smart bombed them?
"approach the gate we all gonna die"
Hey, nope; it's within the overview setting :-D
They should have done a delta split!
is he using a downloadable overview preset and if so what is it? i must have it
got a link to the kill mail?
Its Rooks and Kings, were all going to die
lol how many did you get there?
i ♥ you guys
i think i need a towel after that
"I go boom"
AWESOME!!!
wow, that was so epic
Ahhh, I suppose RnK need to release the videos to the public later.
Stop the scrubs from stealing their tactics.
You're gonna take a very long time to learn about what's happening in this video. Infact unless you're in Nullsec I doubt anything this video shows you will ever encounter.
It was like, i was there.
Well your question got answered but that had me going too lol...
Keep up the good work ^^
I'll be honest, I thought Eve Online was at first a Homeworld 2 mod.
