11 years on this remains one of the most well narrated EvE films to date. The section where the carrier delivers the HIC to the field and the other pilot boards the HIC from the bay to point the Nyx is beyond epic. It's the stuff legends are written from.
This is the single best put together EVE video I've ever seen. The music, the editing, the narration, it all comes together perfectly. This is in all respects a fantastic video.
This video was what really got me into EVE and I come back to it every couple years to enjoy the beauty that was the triage carrier. Hope y'all are doing well
I’m still playing the game all these years later but come back to watch these videos. It’s funny to see how much the graphics have changed though. Especially torpedo animations.
FYI the Erebus was out of point range to most of our dictors, including me, when it magically appeared =( and even more magically disappeared as the pilot logged. Eve giveth and taketh away. Hats of to Lord et al on another well done video. =)
Definitely one of the best Eve Online vids i have ever seen. XD amazing narratives and great video. i was there for this battle. and as screwed up as it is, i remember this battle to the letter. I was in Invictus Omega Corporation.. Purge Alliance. SBer pilot. hahaha this vid made me honestly feel useless but with a smile! we thought we were doing good. lmfao. again amazing vid!
Thank you RooksandKings for the educational Video. Getting squared away before a battle is immensely helpful and videos such as this do nothing but help promote less fails and more fun for all. Thank you.
Well for the tribesman, they were constantly reshipping, but I could see that perspective when 50% (like 5) of them reshipped... I don't usually participate in such small battles being in the bigger alliances
I always love coming back and watching this, you guys are one of my favs, you narate extremely well and clearly spoken, your vent/teamspeak no one is screaming and other nonsense, just as clear orders as possible with everyone trying the best coordination between heals and prime and seconds as best that can, its been a little over a year sense this was originally posted, but as i said its still a great thing to watch time after time
yeah this is the best video play by play i have ever seen, with all of its effects and sounds. the narration is spot on and the music adds the intensity keeping my nose touching the monitor
Watched this when I first started playing 2015/16, no idea what was going on, but seemed cool. Just recently started flying with groups with caps and supers in proper sovnull and rewatched this. Although the mechanics have changed in the years since this was recorded, the experience and knowledge I've gained since I started has made this video all the more enjoyable to watch.
I sit at work and watch eve videos quite a lot, and this is by far the best video I've ever seen. Most of the the other videos I either get bored and change to a new one or fast forward it. I literally was sitting 6 inches from my monitor the whole time. Great video. Thanks for putting in the effort to explain how the mechanics work in a large capital fight.
Even though they don't play EVE as often today, they're still in EVE to many players as a foundation & example of how to truly enjoy this universe game of ours.
The world may never know. I need background noise to sleep. Been listening to R&K almost every night for 5 years now. An audio book of the Martian, or even Game of Thrones lore, from time to time, but by far, it's R&K,
I have to say that after playing for several years this is without doubt the best and most informative and knowledgable video out there. I would look to join if the option was ever given
I really like the extreme detail you go into on these types of encounters. I look forward to reviewing past videos and subscribing. Please bring us more : )
Fair enough, thanks for the clarification though, always good to know exactly how mechanics work should they come up. I've lived in a wormhole before but never had to refit under fire from a carrier so I wasn't sure if putting a mod back online while refitting would cost cap or not. Again good to know. Cheers.
You are correct it doesn't cost cap on refitting off of a carrier but the chance is having that carrier close at the time when you need to refit. We were moving around quite a bit in that fight and the chance of being at the carrier at the right time was a chance we really didn't have. The whole fight was actually over two hours so there is a lot of parts that didn't make the cut of us moving around quite a lot. But good observation though.
Quality engagement. Small gang is my thing, and we've had the baby equivalent of this to some extent, but the edit, and commentary and overall fluidity is the real deal - thanks.
One of the best, most informative vids i've seen on EVE ever... this guy should make some video's for newbies to get into the game, he explains what is going on very clearly and in a way that is very easy to follow.
This video made me sub to Eve, now i have 5 accounts mining ice and making billions. in time i hope to be able to fly in a fleet like this as a triage player.
so with the soon to come all new level to Eve, being Dust 514, you will probably need/ want some epic Fps players. I look forward to see how battles play out with this new dimension to the eve universe which is sure to bring a whole new strategy to completing objectives
One of the most gripping EVE gameplay vids I've seen, simply brilliant. Explanations of the carrier hotfitting are genius, although I'd hate to have been the pilots who had to do it, I'd have flaked, probably why I'm such a carebear. Gonna watch your other vids and you got a sub. Great stuff!
I speak as the Chimera Pilot in this video they were shooting at. Was a Hell of a fight , and We knew what your refitting was doing , we had encountered the pantheon fleet befor , and studied our opponent. Was a Heck of a Fight , and i will always look to RnK to have Fun , as well as Learn from. Glad we only lost 2 caps instead of the many that were actually in danger. Both from the same pilot i might add , lol. Great times RnK , love every second of it , and look forward to more from new allia
This, mate, is an AWESOME video. I love how you explain every little detail, it has really given me some insight into how these things work and you kept me entertained for half an hour, something few vids on youtube manage to do. Beautiful fight!
Randomly watched this video because I actually love taking inspiration for my gaming videos from some older vids. Still fire after all these years. The Golden Age of Eve Online. Reminds me of the Industrial Revolution IRL... After that summer everyone had everything lol.
Another great illustration of pvp in Eve. My hope is that many years from now, films of Eve like this one, will still be around for people to look back at in wonder. Like a collection of Eve history in moving pictures.
I remember reading this battle report on a forum post a while ago, glad to see it in a video. Great narrating, music, video... and a lot of other things, the video was perfect.
I love how calm Rooks and Kings always are. Outnumbered, outclassed, but calm, always calm, enablig them to think of ways to reverse the odds. Brilliant.
+marcus nordan 'I love how calm Rooks and Kings always are. Outnumbered, but calm, always calm, enablig them to think of ways to reverse the odds. Brilliant.' Marcus, i have taken the liberty of correcting your post for you. ;)
I haven't been playing Eve now for about a year, and I find myself not missing it at all. What I did find myself missing was the great videos that RnK have put out. You guys are like the Navy Seals of Eve. I won't flatter myself by saying I could have hacked it in your fleets, cause from my own PvP experience, I know I would have been the weak link that got people killed, but I always wish I could have been in a group as epic as yours. Mine was still ok though, just not totally BA. Love it.
Yeah they did reship, but PURGE had 10 people, and RnK brought about 15-20. The Tribesman had a very ragtag group that had some very bad fittings, which you usually see in a nub corp, but your right they did a pretty good job of trying to keep up with some of the best in EVE. Some of their problem also was they didn't have an FC... so I was FCing, while flying 3 capitals, and not losing my moros lol
This was the most impressive narrated combat video I've ever seen!! Excellent work. I'm posting this video link in my alliance mail so that we can implement some of your tactics!!:D
Think of it this way: At least you don't start from scratch. I wasted quite a bit of skill points as well, but all the core and fitting skills apply to every ship =)
If I ever see any of you in low or null, I will do my utmost to pod every single one of you. But, goddamn it, I respect the hell out of you and LOVE these videos!
Man just by watching this you make me want to resubscribe :) There really isnt enough background tactical analysis videos like these anywhere else and you are the best field commander i have ever seen in eve because of that. GOOD WORK!!! Id kill to play with you guys in battles like those!!!!
I just lobe the whole tactic of a triage pair pinballing hostile fire back and forth, and with each hostile target change, your two carrier pilots are like NOPE.avi and swap fits to reverse the situation. It's wonderfully brilliant, Rooksandkings has the best collection of combat ad tactics videos out there.
Still one of the best vid's of higher level complex pvp . Where people sat down and thought it through instead of just throwing blobs and folks. Please put up more videos!
I think the dance of refitting and triaging with your two carriers is a work of art. Two carriers, just two standard carriers, not even full t2 or meta fitted [I saw those murky transmitters, coaxial regenerative projectors and inefficient armor reps ;) ] holding their own against 4 supers, a smattering of smaller caps, and a mosh pit of support. That's incredible. Fluid teamwork at its finest o7 May I ask what the rigs are for the carriers- Or is that a trade secret?
Look them up on Eve-kill, they were using T2 CCC's at the time. Also meta capital reps are the highest available, there are no Tech II or faction variants.
purplehayabusa It's still an amazing achievement, though; most small fleets with only 2 carriers would just melt with 4 supers on field. It's insane how fast super can chew through carriers if not micromanaged like this.
I was actually 2 of the Hel's that were in this battle. By the time that RnK showed up there was NO subcap support for the supers on the field. This was also a full 6 months before they changed the logoff mechanics. Please remember that these videos are as much propaganda then anything. At the time, MM was ejected from Tribute, and the 4 supers there were just playing around. If we neuted the carriers with the supers, and also focused fired rather the just sitting around it would have been much better. Also, it took them about 30 min to get my Hel out of 75% of shields only... the worst super in the game at the time still easily was safe. When I logged back in I was actually at 100% shields with no armor damage (of course).
Mark Gevaert Even so, it's damn good propaganda. Don't get me wrong, I know a lot of stuff turned out to be in favor of R&K for this video, but that doesn't detract from the fun of watching it and knowing something like this could, and did happen.
Not knowing if you are going to die or not is exactly why this is kind of fighting is amazing. It's the close calls and the fights that you aren't sure about that you and your group will talk about for years, Not the ones you warped into knowing 100% you would win.
PLease make more videos. That was a EPIC walk through of the battle and very informative. Makes me want to drop high sec life and try and move to a low sec life.
05:09 "Onyx, this can be interesting..... A Hel.... An aeon..... ok...... another nyx..... not good, this is NOT good...." You can feel the horror in his voice :)
That new EVE advertisement had me sifting through EVE related content for a while tonight and this video is the best thing I've seen on this game. Well done, really. This well put together, nicely explained, and you guys obviously really know what you're doing. I have to go find classical Metallica now, great stuff!
I think this is one of those, chance favors the prepared mind moments. they came when needed, even knowing the odds at the start, but as more logged in they turned the tables and made better use of time and space that they were given, then the other side did.
11 years on this remains one of the most well narrated EvE films to date. The section where the carrier delivers the HIC to the field and the other pilot boards the HIC from the bay to point the Nyx is beyond epic. It's the stuff legends are written from.
Logs In
LM: "prep a carrier"
LM: "No, a HIC!"
LM: "wait a HIC in a carrier and we'll drop you on the nyx!"
AX: "roger"
Golden comment
This is the single best put together EVE video I've ever seen. The music, the editing, the narration, it all comes together perfectly. This is in all respects a fantastic video.
And it still is
"Or an hourglass for a more discerning pilot"
Stay classy RnK.
I don't know if it was the music, or the tone of the voice delivering it, but this was absurdly fascinating. Love this vid.
***** Apocalyptica is a great band ( the Cello music from the video) =P
+SuperSecret ShiroGuy don't forget the humor
agreed - runs like a pro documentary on tv
2:23 welcome home sanitarium
Even in 2022 this looks amazing.
Watched for the... 200th time. Ty R&K. Always believing, always a true fan.
+Michael Stenlund I've watched this so many times...
FYI the Erebus was out of point range to most of our dictors, including me, when it magically appeared =( and even more magically disappeared as the pilot logged. Eve giveth and taketh away. Hats of to Lord et al on another well done video. =)
2 years, and this still is some of the best (as with all RnK movies) out there with EvE content.
Absolutely the best example of using assets correctly and bringing your "TOOLS" with you into battle.
Team work at it's finest. I got shivers and goosebumps !
i imagine the feeling jumping a titan instead of bridging is simular to how i felt warping to 100 in my freighter in uedama on a weekend instead of 0
Back again to watch thru RnK's videos. 8 years have come and gone and these are still the greatest storied battles I've ever watched. o7
This is a great video with very good narration.
Had to post because of your hilarious Pink Elephant analogy.
Does anyone else come back and watch this after a couple of ales? One of my favourite movies
this and Iron Clad. cheers!

it's videos like this that keep pulling me back to eve.. top job
Excellent commentary. I really liked the pink elephant part.
its 2022 and this is still a sic video
Two of my favourite things, RnK battle videos and Apocalyptica.
Never gets old… everytime i watch it its like its the first time
Thank you RooksandKings for the educational Video. Getting squared away before a battle is immensely helpful and videos such as this do nothing but help promote less fails and more fun for all. Thank you.
side note, even if it is old and outdated it still helps for foundation of concepts and how to approach large scale combat.
Well for the tribesman, they were constantly reshipping, but I could see that perspective when 50% (like 5) of them reshipped... I don't usually participate in such small battles being in the bigger alliances

I love it how he sounds so sad when reporting the hero manticore's efforts
yeah this is the best video play by play i have ever seen, with all of its effects and sounds. the narration is spot on and the music adds the intensity keeping my nose touching the monitor
Brilliant. The tactics and skills of the pilots and FC as well as the narration and presentation of the video. Truly brilliant.
Watched this when I first started playing 2015/16, no idea what was going on, but seemed cool.

As a 7 year vet of eve that is without doubt the most informative and enjoyable eve related vid I have watched.
Thank you.

How many times can a man watch a video for rooks and kings, and not get tired of it? The answer doesn't exist to my known theories.
RnK inspired me to get back in to EvE again. I think they could do it again.
Even though they don't play EVE as often today, they're still in EVE to many players as a foundation & example of how to truly enjoy this universe game of ours.

This is brilliant. The degree of sophistication and the skill of the pilots involved is amazing. Thanks for this window into nullsec.
this guy's voice is awesome, he needs to become a documentary narrator
Watching this again after two years since its release, and enjoying it as much as the first time watching it!!
So intense, all these videos are so intense and so very exciting and epic to watch!
Congratulations on a superb video, without doubt the best I've seen on Eve. Thanks for posting.
The cross-fitting section with the 2 carriers has taught me a lot! Thanks for helping this old girl learn some tricks! :)
Great video, awesome commentary, u make it sound like a WWII radio with all the commands and targets XD MORE!
one of the best eve videos I have seen so far. Good job !
I really like the extreme detail you go into on these types of encounters. I look forward to reviewing past videos and subscribing. Please bring us more : )
I just learned more about EVE by watching this video than I have learned from playing EVE the last month =O
Probably one of the best edited EVE videos on youtube. Great Job
God this game is complex. I'll just stay on the sidelines and watch vids like this. Great job.
Fair enough, thanks for the clarification though, always good to know exactly how mechanics work should they come up.

10/10 your videos and your in-game skills are remarkable, respect

The Whole fight lasted for a little over 2 hours. My Navy Geddon was in structure a couple of times! But I was RNK Archon Tanked so all was good!
Great video. Learned a lot from this.
wow informative, professional and actually interesting. A rare combination these days thank you.
Excellent video, great narrator! It's very clear and awesomely made.
