- Have you ever seen a 15$ GoPro clone and wondered how bad it really is? I just bought a Cheap Chinese GoPro clone and compared it to a GoPro Hero 4. I also took it apart!
Since I am a video editor and camera nerd I never looked for the "cheapest" cameras on the market. Yet when I saw an AD for a 15$ 4k Ultra HD action camera I had to find out how bad this actually was. And to my surprise, I wasn't surprised at all.
Watch me take apart this cheap Chinese GoPro clone!

I can confirm said in this video. Also a while back earlier this year I manage to snag-up an old original GoPro hero1 for only $17. The interesting thing was that the seller was mainly selling it cause he found it hidden in his closest and he literally had no idea how to use it. But it's still a decently good camera as far as what you expect from GoPro. Since this was one of the earliest first gen/iteration of the GoPro hero line it didn't have a LCD display screen and no WiFi broadcasting.
Oh yeah I remember my first GoPro. What a shit show! But back then this was the future! 🙈

The Go PRO Hero 4 cameras on ebay are much more, more like 150.
At the moment of recording I've got cheaper listings (see screenshots in Video). Maybe just observe the prices for a few weeks and as soon as a chaper listing drops buy it.
I paid $60 for my GoPro Hero 4. Then one of these cheap cameras because it didn't come with any accessories. So now I have a housing and adapters for 23 bucks where is if I would have bought them individually would cost me twice that much!

It's pretty worth considering it works it has tons of accessory is waterproof and pretty tough and all that for 15$ it's worth if ur tight on money and wanna have evidence when someone crashes in you.
I would not trust this camera to survive a crash at all. Better get a true dash-cam.
Thanks for sharing this, there's definitely a lot of bad gopro clones out there but there's also good ones like the SJCAM 4000 which I used for so many years

good stuff. So 4K Ultra HD is the brand 😂😂😂😂😂. I was wondering how they would explain that one. I'd imagine the camera is cmos crap and wouldn't expect anything better. I would like to see a still photo tho just for curiosity's sake. Good review and insight.
it's a rebranded sj4000 i think you can use original firmware and upgrade it and you will get normal sj4000

What is the reason for the poor quality picture ? Is it the sensor, lens or poor construction or some adjustment at the factory ? I have a $25 camera and the picture quality is much better than this. I did buy it in a shop and not off the internet, could there be a connection here ? Adrian. UK/England 2023
With this specific product, it's just the ancient and low-spec sensor and probably not too good plastic lens.

To be fair its angle of view 90 degrees gives a wide angle without the crazy fisheye distortion you see once you hit around 100 degrees.
I bought a couple of similar ones to this because I knew they were 90 degree and not the advertised 120..
Both were crap and reminded me of shaky video quality you use to get back 15 years ago on a VGA webcam.
Sensor was tiny like the kind found on a cheap spy watch, hopeless in low light and very bright light, there seemed to be no auto control over the exposure, I'm assuming the iso was set to as sensitive as possible meaning bright light would be totally washed out and lower light would be extremely grainy.
The only half decent thing was the rear LCD screen
I mean lets be honest. Cheap cameras were and never will be good, there is a reason a well engineered sensor costs a bit more than 15$

oh jeez I wish I'd seen this vid a week ago, just got a similar one from China and it is complete garbage, already snapped two of the plastic lugs off the fittings, can't get any decent resolution for love nor money yet it says it is 4k, box says up to 64gb storage supported but instruction book says 32gb, ended up throwing away several microsd cards that it screwed up. Wifi hardly works at all so yeah, don't buy just save up for a proper GorPro

@@GreenBoxMedia No worries my fault for getting sucked in to the flashy advertising. I recommend just using a smartphone and as a side note, I bought a decent little digital camera about 12 years ago and then spent more than the cost of the camera for the underwater housing and it still works great though on it's third battery. GoPro 9 dropped in price when the GoPro 10 came out, and it will most likely drop again when the GoPro 11 comes out later this year.
it's body cam and not 4k
but 15$ for Body cam is very very useful
It lost footage in about 1/3 of all recordings I would not call this useful at all.

I'm Swiss. It's more like 1970s super 8. Image quality in the 90s where pretty ok with SD resolutions.
