Yes your dear old parents still have that ancient Retro alarm clock radio. Still wakes me up for work after 40yrs constant use, even though there's a couple bits of the LCD display missing and have to guess the time. And you can inherit what's left of it when I retire from work. MBO Electronic , just replaced 2 x pp9v batts again that save the correct time in case of a power cut.

I've been going back and forth, and forth and back.... on whether to use a micro PC, a Pi4 or this box. I agree with what you said about the Pi4 and I honestly have no desire to wade into that pond. I've checked out 3 reviews of this and all pretty much concur except on Dreamcast Emulation. How often do you have to implement frame skip to get a DC title to play? I find using that feature makes the control feel off so it's not an option.

Just wondering when I set up emuElEC on the sd card.. When I remove SD card from Android box will my Android box be as it was before with evey thing I had on it or will they be erased?
Android will still be there.
Shut down emuelec, take out the microsd, then start up the box again, you'll get android.
I think there's even an option within emuelec "boot from nand" which loads up your android system

EMUELEC 3.9 Why doesn't my main menu have no configuration file to edit?
I picked one of these up and it seems to be going great, buuuut there appears to be no way to turn the unit on except unplugging and replugging the power cable. Is that really what everyone is doing?
I'd be happy to use the included remote to turn it on (it'd also be nice so our kids can be holding the controller but I can select games for them with the remote) but that seems hard AF and the only guides are for coreelec.
Any advice?

Emulators are specific to the version, but may be able to flip in emulators if you fancy Faffing like we did with the console x.
@@TeamPandory sounds good thank you. I am having issues playing some Openbor games. I found out that its the actual Openbor build on Emuelec that is old and therefore not able to run some titles hence why i wanted to know if the individual emulator can be updated. Thanks for replying 👍🏼
@@JSinz007 oh! Can have a look for you, but emuelec and most of these distros have updated cores per each install.
If you manage to find the .so file for a newer openbor, for that particular chip, you should be able to flip it out.

You may be able to place it in the download folder, then add the .so file from emuelec itself.

Mini pc is the place to go for that. You could try with an odroid n2+, but they're always sold out on hardkernel

Hey I have situation everything was working fine for emuelec I was playing the games I've loaded a couple days ago and not to long ago I took the SD out my android box n put it in my laptop to add and all I see is the d drive with emuelec but it usually shows 2 drive with the other one being with all the roms but now it doesn't show it anymore

It can be used with Batocera on this little box. That has Kodi installed- but I'm unsure of the performance with x265. x264 runs well enough though. ... TBH It's been a while since I hit my device with a hammer, and the MicroSD no longer works. (ooops!) - Still great bang for buck this little box

Yes. Check EmuElec github- basically write the image using Etcher for Mac

It depends on what controller you are using and if this tv box doesn't have. Bluetooth, you will probably need to buy a Bluetooth dongle
Emuelec is compatible with a ton of controllers. It's not the same nightmare we have with Pandora boxes.

There may be an issue with the microsd, can you check with another microsd and even check what android reports back re the system hardware config ?

Lots of comments asking about comparisons to the Console X but how does it compare to the Retrostation 14k for performance, especially on some of the trickier consoles like N64 and Dreamcast?
RetroStation 14K uses the same 905x3 chip- So same - if not extremely similar performance. The only thing that would be different is the amount of RAM and/ or how well the chip is cooled. RetroStation 14K is also on EmuElec 3.9, unless it has been updated- but this can be updated to EmuELEC 4.2 by the end user.

Can it emulate Saturn 2D games 1080p with at least scinelines as a filter? And Dreamcast in 1080p? And what iteration of MAME this box can run? All without lost fps.
Question: Could I use the super console x pro sd card 256 on HK1 or another support android v9-11 tv box? Was thinking of just getting the SD card and a newer Android TV since the pro hardware is weak 1gig versus 4-6 gig
If the newer box supports root / emuelec , you'd need to pull all games , install emuelec to a fresh microsd then copy back files from a pc ... Doable but a little faff. Nothing you can't handle I'm sure

Compares to the newer but cheaper models; HK1 RBOX K8 (Rockchip RK3528 / Mali-450MP2) and HK1 RBOX X4( Amlogic S905X4 / Mali-G31MP2), which one do you consider the best of these 3 for game console emulation please ?
AFAIK EmuELEC is not supported on either of those models, so I'd have to side on something with a 905x3 (with root access). Next step above? A Mini PC any day of the week

@@mytube9182 tbh you can even get a "super console x" 905x3 variant nowadays for very cheap. You'll know for sure that it works too.
The 905x4 will be the same regarding gameplay, but there's one step before jumping to mini pc.. search the s922. We made a review maybe two years ago on the odroid N2+. That's definitely a huge rank up, but may be too close to the price of a mini pc to bother with.
I have the super console Xpro 256gb version.
The games you show, N64 killer instinct, and N64 007, are much slower in my X pro system than on this HK1 box.
My question about this is,

Don't bother with a 905x4.. go with a unit that is compatible with emuelec. X96max I think is a good one.

@Team Pandory Are there boxes you can recommend that would run amiga and mame much better without need for frame skip that support emuelec (so i can simply reimage the console x pro sd card)? Lets say i buy the gt-king pro with Amlogic S922X-H CPU, could i still use the console x pro or retrostation 14x sd card (after ofcourse reimaging and adjusting the dtb file)?
If you want amiga and mame then this is the thing to get. You can move roms from the console x to anything you have. We will be making a guide on getting this box up to speed with emuelec very soon.
You're not going to get killer instinct or anything running well on any android board, you'd need to go pc (check our last video )
@@TeamPandory I like the older games, all stuff that i played in the arcade halls (green baret, ghouls n ghosts, etc) and amiga games (dogs of war, altered beast, etc), and capcom games, eventually i will of course build my own system through pc but for now a good android box will do for my needs. You can take the games from the superconsole x / superconsole x pro, then make a new microSD for this device- and it'll work great!

We bought one of these though it will not play any video from within a web browser.
I get the following error messages when using the Firefox, Chrome & Parrot browsers when trying to play video.
"The media playback was aborted due to a corruption problem or because the media used features your browser did not support"
Bitchute will also not play, it looks like the video is stuck trying to buffer, though the same video will play on a laptop with no issues.
I've tried Bitslide but this also does not work
Any ideas how to fix this problem?
Wow! Perhaps by updating the browsers? Only ever use these things as emulation boxes

Can you show how to re image the console x sd card to work on this...please
We have video tutorials for this. 1. Pull the roms to a computer (we show how to copy them over in the video titled EEMC606) 2. Follow the emuelec install guide (EEMC201), and then 3. to copy over the games (EEMC501).
How did you reboot it the new image?? I have it installed and when I use the toothpick method and put in recovery mode, and choose reboot now it doesn't boot to the image flashed to my microsd. Did you do anything different? I have this exact same android tv box.
If it doesn't boot it'll be a microsd issue. We've made a Video guide on installing emuelec and how it was rebooted.

I've seen that video like 10x lol I've tried both the Emuelec and CoreElec images on separate occasions and none have this HK1 box rebooting to the new image automatically. Even when I use the toothpick trick n try rebooting from there, nothing seems to work 😭

I'm having the same issue and tried 2 different box's of the hk1. Must be a firmware update if you can kindly find out the firmware used it would be great.

Sure, you'll be limited to how many games you put on your microsd, though! - MicroSD cards go quite cheap now.
The MECOOL KH3 is cheap as nails but can run at 4K 60fps. Best $25 I ever spent for KODI and Emulation. Plus it runs Android 10.

Can you install STADIA or GEForce Now apps on that box?
It's running android 9, so you should be good... But personally have had no experience with this software
What about onboard Wifi and bluetooth? Does it work?
For this one, yes... But AFAIK Bluetooth is pretty hit and miss for most of these Android boxes. I use a mayflash usb stick to connect my wireless pad.

You need to remember that the console x is a ready to go box, with microsd controllers games.
The Amazon Fire Stick 4K work just as good, if not a little better with PPSSPP. It has support for HDR, HDR 10, HDR10+, HLG, Dolby Vision and it's certified for 4K with Netflix. Just debloat it and install a custom launcher and use a good frontend. I'm using a launcher in kodi for my frontend, which is nice, but I can't show it off in youtube... because youtube deletes comments with links :(
EmuElec is a frontend that I doubt these "Android boxes that have 4k Netflix" will be able to touch. - Firestick 4k is also double the price new. It'd be a nice comparison we may try in the future, though.
@@TeamPandory The kodi frontend I'm using is actually better than EmuElc. It pulls all the album art and games from my web server, so I don't need TBs of storage to have access to all my games on any given device. I just load my kodi plugin, it starts the wizard and it setups all the retroarch commands for the frontend. There's a reason I hate all these copies of Emulation Station, it's not centralized. I can't just go to someone's house and have access to my library and be set in minutes.
Meanwhile I call BS on your double the price nonsense! The ebay link you have alone is $50 and the other one is $40. You can get a Fire Stick 4K for $40 right now with 5% discount if you use your amazon chase card. Meanwhile the Fire Stick 4K constantly goes on sale all the time and it's certified for 4K on popular streaming services.
Most people don't cover it anymore, but the amazon 4k stick is a beast and the lite version uses the same chipset for the most part and that's even cheaper. You should do a comparison. Get the USB adapter for it, install retroarch and a USB flash drive.

I've had nothing but trouble putting EmuELEC onto my HK1 makeup box. I finally got my BlueTooth controllers to pair with it sucessfully, but for the life of me I can't figure out a way to get it to connect to the internet. It can get an IP address from my WiFi, but can't connect to the web and even plugging an ethernet cable in isn't helping.
Which hk1 did you get? There are a few out there and some even have a Rockchip in (the one featured here is a 905x3). Provided you have the 905x3, we made a guide on rolling back the firmware to one that is more compatible.
@@TeamPandory I have kernel version 4.9.113, build PPR1.180610.011 just like the example in your video after flashing the old firmware. In fact, I have no trouble at all booting up EmuELEC and even playing games. The problem is just that it can't use my internet connection within EmuELEC.

Teampandory/ emuchichicken, eh bro i always ask wicked gamer to no avail how to reset the super console x from gameplay back to the systems menu list without shutting off the machine and turning it back on. I've tried many different variations of button combos but nothing ever works. It sucks having to turn off the whole system when you get tired of playing a game just to get back to the lists of consoles, can you help please?
Yeah. You need to set up the hotkey. Push the hot key that you set and start button together, twice. And it should pull you back out to the games list.

Hi team pandory, which emuelec software must I download for this device(4gb 64gb)?
I flashed the "EmuELEC- Amlogic-ng.aarch64 -4.0-Generic.img.gz" (1st download on the release list of GitHub) on a SD with Etcher and then from the "device_trees" I chose the "sm1_s905x3_4g.dtb"
I tried to boot the system but my HK1 goes straight to the TVbox menu.
What goes wrong, can you help me?

You have to use a toothpick and insert it in the tiny hole at the back of the device which is used for audio I think. At the bottom of that hole, there is a switch you can push with the toothpick. Insert the sd card in the sd card slot then connect the hdmi cable, finally keep this button pushed by inserting the toothpick while you connect the power AC cable being already plugged in in the power socket.
You should see the Emuelec logo and then you can take out the toothpick. This makes the system to boot permanently from the sd card.

Yes. You have the correct files / card ready. You just need to have the hk1 be able to boot it. Check the next video that is scheduled today in our emuelec master class. For more information. We go through a couple of variations to the "toothpick"

My system goes to the Android boot page:( . I checked the SD card with my super console X pro,(the other flash and device tree ofcourse) works fine , than formatted the system, and again the right flash and device tree on the SD for the HK1 box.
When I go in the settings menu of the HK1 box and click "storage" the HK1 box recognise my SD card but he says "unsupported"
When I click on it "to use this SanDisk SD card with this device, you have to set it up first" but than he wants me to format the card etc
What goes wrong 🤣
The only thing I did different at the installation EmuELEC 4.0 for the super console X pro, was that I copied the boot "dtb.img" from the original SD card and placed that on the new SD, and "BOOM"

Hi guys any ideas why my games are not loading? i've tried snes nes and neogeo but i got nothing. they show up in emuelec but as i try to load any game it brings me back the the game list. What am i doing wrong? thank you
Did megadrive ever work for you? As they don't need bios to run, it could be that you've either got the incorrect game files , or you have a fake sized microsd card.
@@TeamPandory i've just tryed some genesis and nothing, they wont load. the micro sd is a good quality one , and i've used this roms on many other emulators with no problems. i would like to solve the issue, i like the look and feel of the system and would love to use it..
@@carlodeasmundis4610 megadrive is one of the easiest systems to emulate. Did you run a fake test on your microsd?
Try changing the core / emulator used for the problem systems or copy over a different set of games

You'll need to run libreelec boot apk, and the microsd should run. Don't think there's a limit on the size of the microsd. 256 ran ok
