It’s yours!? I love it! Thanks for the cool design. I get lots of comments asking about it. I would add it to my p1s also but they’re already so high up on my shelves I wouldn’t be able to reach the AMS.
Macy, I have over 5k hours on my 2 X1cc's I have never needed to replace the Extruder due to quality issues (although mine have the hardened steel gears). (i did replace them due to AMS filament retraction issues) When i start to notice diminishing quality...That is when i perform maintenance. This includes cleaning the X & Y rods, Z-screws, tightening the belts, replacing the cutter and swiper. The most effective of these to me seems to be the re-tensioning of the belts. I try to do all these maintenance items every 750-1k hours. There are instructions for all these items on BL's Wiki too. I would also recommend getting some AMS first stage replacements. That is where i have had the most failures. Now i keep 4 in stock for my 4 AMS's. Keep up the good work!
I am a micro shop compared to yall, just a few k per year. I can see why the first stage is a failure part as that is exactly where I have had the most, and really only trouble with mine. Going to order two for spares now.
Awesome thank you for the heads up! Luckily I haven't had too many issues besides the extruders. Maybe changing to the hardened gears would help. I'll try that next time to see if I can get a couple more months out of them. I definitely need to get some spare AMS parts because I've been getting a lot more multi color orders and that would really set me back if one of those went out.
Hey Macy, I know this is a bit late but would recommend some electrical tape wrapped around the ptfe where it passes through the metal hole. It rubs on the metal and will cause the tube to fail within a couple hundred hours otherwise. Bambu does sell a rubber gasket that you can fit to it to pass the tube through, but tape is just as effective at stopping it damaging things.
Macy I saw you taping up and have a recommendation after I rapidly decided fighting with packing tape was not enjoyable. Get a tape gun. I have the Amazon basics one, $15. takes standard tape rolls. It is just SO much faster than using scissors. also you just let the teeth do the cutting, it sounds silly but watch a video if you haven't used one before, once you know the technique it is 100 times faster.
I bought the "premium" one from Tesa. It has hidden teeth (when you press that clear colored shield they show) and a rubber grip. I just use it private for when i sell something, but this is soooo good 😂👍
Also worth considering the water activated tape with dispenser. If you tape a lot, they’re great. Changed our workflow. Got the inspiration from the vids of the Amazon guys packing boxes - but with a much cheaper dispenser
@@BurnoutPhotographyI know about these but I've never seen them in use, I will watch one of those videos. I do like that the water tape can get all fancy with your own branding on it. I am way far away from that, but I can dream...
Have you tried the gold Textured PEI plates? I saw your plates look like the black ones. The new gold is pretty cool if you get a chance to try it out.
I was going to say forget the print farm, let's see some of that Hornady action....but someone beat me to it!! LOL Do you have any advice on where/how to start small? I only have 1, slowish, printer...so I don't think it's feasible to list on a mainstream site as if I was to get 4 orders, I can't really make them fast enough (and having 5 of each item in 'inventory' isn't a great solution either). I think if I can get some product into the hands of ppl I know, that might get enough exposure to inspire interest from ppl they know. I don't want to invest in a faster printer if there is no market for anything I make. Thanks, you're living my retirement dream (income from a hobby)!
Have you tried to just replace the hardened steel extruder gear assembly in the extruder instead of the whole extruder? It might be just a dirty gear that just needs to be cleaned.
It’s definitely just dirty gears, and I bought the hardened gears but I read on Reddit that the stainless steel ones worked better (?) so I never changed them out and just replaced the whole unit instead. I haven’t tried it so I can’t confirm that statement. Maybe I will once the next one goes out.
Yeah, I just use a metal pick and spray isopropyl to clean everything up when I have that issue. Happens to me about once a month or so, but we are running 15 machines right now. Only had to replace one extruder once because of the sensor on it went out and Bambu was not selling replacements at the time. @@macymakes3d
This is my second year. My first year I was only averaging like $200 a month in sales. Then one day Etsy decided to push my products and my sales took off. Just keep at it and eventually you’ll make it 💪🏼
2:25 can you do warranty replacement or is deemed a consumable? Can you clean them with a cold pull or something? There’s probably a foreign object in them.
They're consumable parts, the nozzle is generally what is wearing down and a nozzle replacement is cheaper than a full extruder replacement. You can even get Hardened Steel or other nozzles to print abrasives like Carbon Fiber. She may have also printed with some filament that had additives which wore down the nozzle which could be causing the issue/inconsistencies but unless she says otherwise we won't know.
@@B143DP I saw a video with under extrusion and in the cold pull was a piece of wire, it was tiny like a bristle had broken off from a brass bristle brush - tiny. Cleaned out and ran perfectly. May have been cnc kitchen or Joel telling. Or maybe on a nero3d stream where he was talking about Bambu.
I tried MANY cold pulls and checked the nozzle first but in both printers it was the extruder gears. As soon as I change them out I’m back to printing perfectly
@@macymakes3doh right. There probably not much you could do to fix that yourself. Still I’d be pursuing a warranty replace as that not really a consumable, like a nozzle is.
Hey Macy, next time if you want to secure your AMS unit to the riser or the riser to the printer you can use multi-polarity magnetic tape or A+B magnetic tape so that it doesn't have a super tight bond and you can always pull it off if needed or make adjustments to its placement
If the colors can be seen without opening each box, it seems you are handling each spool more often than necessary. Can’t you stack your boxes on the shelves? Then, only handle once.
Been watching for a while. I totally didn't realize I hadn't subscribed... I have been looking to get a 3D printer for the last couple of years, but never pulled the trigger. My friend in SC told me that I would really enjoy it, and I just threw it to the side like "ya ya"... Well I got one like 3 weeks ago, and I can't stop printing stuff ;s I am working on my modelling craft, making various things around my own workplace to 'adjust' and 'improve' things I found annoying. Like, I had these LED lights for my workbench when I stream, and I modeled and printed a clip that friction fits the light controller and it attaches to the 15mm tube tripod part. It works perfectly. After version 3. We don't discuss the previous versions... especially version 1. It is the sin of man-kind. I actually considered getting a Bambulabs printer, but they're so expensive for my 'first printer', but now that I've been playing with this Ender 3 Neo 3D, I can see why it might be handy. Especially with multi-colored prints... I did a 4 coffee coaster set with the Saskatchewan Roughriders (CFL Football team) logo for a family friend, with ironing and such. It took like 23 1/2 hours to print it on it. Turned out pretty well, but I can imagine that with a better machine that cost more than $200 it'd work better. It was during the black friday sales and I got it for $220 CAD. I am not complaining. I think it will be great for what I plan on doing at the moment.
Thank you for subscribing, I'm so glad you're here! 3d printing is addicting lol. I started out on an Anycubic Vyper, really similar to the ender 3 so I think you're smart for starting out on the cheaper end. Allows you to learn a little before investing in one of the more expensive machines. BUT once you're able to make the switch, you definitely should. There's a night and day difference. The multi color printing and also the speed make it so worth it. Excited to hear more about your journey!
Potential tip for your transparent filament, if you don’t like the way it is coming out in your final prints try lowering the speed quite a bit or adjusting the temperature. I had some transparent filaments that I used to print on my ender 3’s that came out great (low speed) but was never happy with how they printed with my bambu’s and AnkerMake.
That is a very nice riser. ;)
I am glad you got it working on the P1P. I designed it for the P1S where it sits more stable on the top of the printer.
It’s yours!? I love it! Thanks for the cool design. I get lots of comments asking about it. I would add it to my p1s also but they’re already so high up on my shelves I wouldn’t be able to reach the AMS.

Macy I absolutely love your videos. I will try to start same Name business in East Europe :) Bulgaria. Wish me luck.
If the tape sticks too well, try using dental floss or fishing line to sort of cut it off.
Ooh good idea! Thanks 😊
Are we going to see anything involving the Hornady box? ;)
Lol that's my husbands hobby. You don't want me doing anything with that hahaha

My first 3 p1ps shipped with the black plates, but my 4th one has the gold plate and you're right, it's SO much better.
@@macymakes3d do you get the black coating flaking off and adhering to the first layer of prints with the black PEI, too?
