Rheumatic Fever is an immunological disease most probably caused by molecular mimicry to the M protein of Group A beta-hemolytic streptococci (streptococcus pyogenes)…Rheumatic fever can be diagnosed using the Jones Criteria: including major criteria (joint disease- migratory, inflammatory polyarthritis) , heart disease (pancarditis)- Endocarditis, Myocarditis, and Pericarditis, Subcutaneous nodules, erythema marginatum (Bull’s eye rash on the skin), Sydenham chorea (movement disorder) and minor criteria (e.g. fever, high ESR, high CRP,…etc)…Infective endocarditis is characterized by fever + new murmur.
