As a Goldstar, mother of two sons lost in Iraq and Afghanistan I wish peace upon this world. I played this song for both my sons during memorials. The hardest thing as a parent to do is outlive your children, much less lose them and senseless more of aggression against nations, whose only fault was to have rare earth minerals/oil that are nation sacrifice our children at the altar of we must never allow this to happen again.

🇬🇧 To lose one child is bad enough, but to lose two!?😢. My heart breaks for you 💔. I'm so sorry you had to go through that. I wish you peace & love. ❤️❤❤❤❤

How anyone questions Mark Knopfler's genius as a songwriter/performer/storyteller is beyond me, and his guitar work is nothing short of immaculate every time.

This song was used in one the most iconic episodes in Miami Vice in 1985 Out Where The Buses Don't Run, episode I also play this on July 16 every year as my Great grandfather was KIA in 1916 at the Somme France,

Brothers In Arms from Dire Straits - Live"On The Night" 1993 is even more powerful. Mark's playing on that Pensa Suhr guitar sounds so good it goes right through you. The sound quality is so good. Every reactor I've seen on TH-cam said it had such an impact on them. Cheers all the best from Australia 👍🎸🎸🎸

Back then I was always into pop, synth or r&b. But I grew up having to listen to Dire Straits on the radio and this song brings up the good times for me back then. Mesmerises me every time I hear it. Such a sad haunting but beautiful piece of music especially Mark’s guitar playing. Band that I truely respect.

Bit not6hing taken of the album or artists, this was the first pop/rock album ever done completely digitally and for a CD. The digitally recording and remastering makes this sound so unique at the time. When CD's came out, they had thse letters like AAD, ADD and DDD meaning, analogy recorded/digitally, analogy/digitally remastered. DDD ment. it was digital and that's why this sounds so crisp and in fact the at the time devoloper Phillips had the patent for CD's and CD-players back then.

The sad truth is that even if western countries aren't perfect at all and have very bloody and operessing histyory towards others lasting hundreds of years, we have learned, that you should avoid these actions if possible and if not, have at least an alliance that thinks the same way. Nothing we humans do is never perfect, but there are still better ways and worse as in every single matter in life too. Sometimes you have to choose your side, when the other option is way more destructive.

HI Sal, Just to say I have watched a couple of other reactions by yourself, and really appreciate your empathetic responses, I also enjoyed your reaction to this iconic song/hymn written by Mark Knopfler in 1982. I’m a massive longtime fan of Dire Straits & adore MK, (a multi-talented musician who’s had a stellar career), genius lead singer, magical guitarist, prolific songwriter, record producer, film composer, still making beautiful music in 2024. However, I heartily recommend you do another reaction of Brothers in Arms, namely: Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms - LIVE Wembley 1988 - Audio HQ Remasterize! th-cam.com/video/dZXlQp0aKPU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=G6vFrTua4gY1sV5f. (This performance was at the 1988 70th Birthday Concert for Nelson Mandela, and is a more emotional experience than the recordings or ‘official’ videos. As with all DS performances, the Live performances provide a lot more content and atmosphere than the commercial ‘official videos’, and this notion is also supported by MK in early YT interviews. Alchemy Live Concert 1985 and Live on the Night 1992/3 Tour (Calling Elvis; You & Your Friend; BIA; Private Investigations et al. Planet of New Orleans is probably the only one where I’d suggest the album recording is best. Apologies for rambling. I❤MK
