This is the best tutorial I have found on Illustrator's pen tool. Setting the speed at 0.25 when he speed tracing helped a lot!!

This is by far the best beginner tutorial for the pen tool after browsing for weeks. It's so frustrating as a sketch artist to learn software and bring your drawing to life. I have so many sketched designs and logos I need to vector... there's no time like to present to learn.
Over the past two weeks, I've spent about six hours with this video, watching, pausing, re-watching, walking away and grinding my teeth, doing breathing exercises and coming back to it. FINALLY last night, on maybe the sixth or seventh run-through, it CLICKED. I totally get the pen tool now and have made friends with it. Thanks so much for sharing your expertise :)

@@mkm1015 I've seen people make some amazing shit in MS Paint, so I'd say depending on your needs that yes, it would still suffice.

I just followed through your video and did everything you've said, and it made my day to finally understand the pen tool! Things were very harsh for me as I was drawing in photoshop, then I was using the image trace option, which never gave me satisfying results... Thank you sooooo much!

I don't think this tutorial applies to AI cs4. It apparently has been made better in the newer versions.

@@idealoading Hello, the up arrow is Shift, the one that follows is command that in Windows is Control and finally the last one that is used 8:00 is Alt (the one next to the space bar) It is a little complex at the beginning, you just have to practice
know your basics course is just what I needed. Taking it a day at a ti so I can fully grasp the core of soft.
This tutorial is gold,I've watch so many other good tutorials but they confused me a bit,but this video was the best.Honestly you should be teaching
