Hubert's surprisingly fresh corpse should've been the final boss, and even then he would've retreated to fight another day, because he cannot fall here.
That sounds like a fun mod to do. Replace him with the final boss in the Blue Lions route.
In the Snow route we should also have the option to bring Rhea Edelgard's head, which Immaculate One promptly swallows. Mod idea? :D

I’ve never had a character die besides in the final battle (rip Constance) so I never knew this

the fact that it was still faster (by a full 20 hours) than my maddening classic ng+ verdant wind playthrough despite the fact that you spent 15 HOURS grinding to level 99 just shows how time consuming monastery stuff is. I don't even hate it that much, it's just shockingly time consuming.
It makes sense, all maddening without cheese does is make every single "optional" monastery mechanic mandatory if it don't want to suffer.
Still have fishing nightmares.

I remember randomly stumbling upon the beginning of these videos and thinking I was gonna watch a cool duo maddening run

In technical sense, the students actually don't die during the first part, their lines indicate retreat rather than death, presumed they are crippled and unable or unwilling to enter battle again and only die during the timeskip. Even then, several survive, Pietra goes back to Brigid, Dorothea and Manuela go to ground with their theatre troupe, Mercedes is stuck in an arranged marriage, Bernadetta becomes a hermit, Shamir and Flayn disappear into exile. They can only truly die if they are still active after the time-skip.
You know I bet it might be a ratings thing, directly killing children and such.

Not to get too deep, but Seteth showing up only in cutscenes is kinda sad. Her students died from her careless mistakes. Edelgard refuses to let her back in. Byleth is utterly alone, and her only solace lies in Seteth, but he’s not really there. He died too.

This really is one of the Fire Emblem games of all time.
It’s my personal favorite Fire Emblem game*, but I can see why people would have mixed feelings about it.
*I haven’t had the opportunity to play that many of the games before Awakening yet, so my opinions are still likely to change, especially if FE4 gets remade.

I've been going through these compilations, but I had to comment on this one to say that Abuela Katana had me literally in tears
I was losing my shit at the 4/20 date joke, I haven't laughed that hard in a while
oh yeah in case you don't know, Alois can be recruited even in crimson flower route, he becomes recruitable after defeating Solon, I understand the other player's confusion because he volonteers himself to join you too late before most players realized that he's playable even if you rebel against the church, If I didnt see the article on wiki on time where it says "Shamir and Alois dialogue when you fail to recruit Alois in crimson flower route" that part saved me from failing to recruit him
I've never played through 3H, but just seeing all these false choices has my blood boiling. Come on, devs.
Not only that, the crimson flower and Verdant wind routes are obviously rushed and either unfinished in crimson flower's case, or rips off silver snow in Verdant wind's case. Azure moon is actually an incredibly entertaining story, and the false choices are explained by you being overruled by an unstable Dimitri, so it feels more plausible.
@@nevets2371 Calling Verdant Wind a rip off of Silver Snow is funny to me, considering Silver Snow's the biggest rip off in the series. At least (And this is a big at least) Verdant Wind has the Nemesis fight.

Meanwhile, the story beats not directly connected to Those Who Slither are clearly intended for Claude as the tactician rather than Seteth, not to mention Silver Snow's final battle being much worse storywise than Crimson Flower's for being the same fight.

Those are not ICBMs at 38:57 but "Rods of God" which are a real thing devised in our world where you drop Tungsten rods frin orbit at high speeds to do massive damage, its not very strong in our world as we are limited by physics but with the use of magic which you can see in the game they accelerate the rods speed greatly which allows it to be basically mini nukes.

"Its not very strong in our world" is false. For us it just takes way more energy to lift matter into orbit than it does to build a nuke.
If we had a lunar colony mine or asteroid mine though, rods from god would be common because you can attach them to spacecraft and satellites away from high gravity areas.
They aren't really a "real thing" yet though, they're purely speculative and probably not worth the cost. Due to having to guide them and them being dropped from almost-space, the cost per rod would be stupidly high, and you'd get the same destructive power from a few, much cheaper rockets.
In actuality they're more of a propaganda/fear-mongering tactic to make people afraid of "silent space missiles," because fantastical pseudo-science headlines grab more attention. In reality they would be easy to counter, and anything but silent.

The way I didnt know you could even game over at 99 turns
When you get to 91, it will start telling you how many turns are left
I discovered this in the first bandit fight by farming the stationary boss on a heal tile with arrows.
Was it worth it? Not at all, but I did it.
You'd think using all this monastery time to get some strength for Byleth would be nice, but we're not losers out here. We'd rather bang our heads against a wall a million times than waste an hour more at the monastery.
That's just being a loser with extra steps.

The final boss of Cindered Shadows was originally a softlock for me... I never played Fire Emblem before Three Houses, and Cindered Shadows was already included when i decided to buy everything, so i just didn't have the mindset to beat it! I tried like 20 times, but only got it down to nearly the last HP bar before i lost...
But after playing Three Houses for about 500 hours or so, i realized that i never went back to the fight again. And even though i had forgotten every single mechanic, i did the fight in one try and with everyone alive! Goes to show just how much basic experience playing a game can help you!
How come I didn't knew this channel, this is gold.
This "in a nutshell" video inspired me to play the game on Maddening... with exploits and stuff that you don't need to hack the game and it's fun.

Currently running a 1st Maddening game and I already maxed out Byleth in every weapon proficiency, nearly maxed out all statues, 3 of the statues are on their last 2500 renown point quota excluding Saint Cethlean.
My Petra has like 92 speed, Byleth has 56 defense and steamroll every map. You have no idea how long I grinded for the last few chapters

Swordmaster Byleth is a great user of the Viskam. Especially if you get Sword Crit +10 from getting Sword to skill rank S.
Because it turns back time, surely it would make more sense for Sothis' Stand Ability to be Killer Queen's Bites the Dust rather than the world, which simply stops time.

I poured 500 hours into this game, basically cleared and maxxed everything, and I know how excruciatingly annoying it is to grind in skirmishes and doing the monastery stuff. So seeing you grind Byleth to level 99 is insane and I commend you for your dedication. Also watching the cutscenes with just Byleth, Edelgard and Hubert's ghost was hilarious. Great video as always! ❤

I was surprised that Metodey wasn't working with Edelgard in 3 hopes when siding with scarlet blaze and golden wildfire, im not sure about azure gleam yet, because I've havent started Azure Gleam yet but I will after I finish with golden wildfire
Metodey being a common thug does make sense-Three Hopes does imply with his appearances that he is kept on the Slitherer's retainer just in case; and whyever would Edelgard, who abhors senseless violence, want that guy in a position of power? Moreover, it made more sense to bring a common thug along into the basement, rather than an actual Imperial general, as Edelgard didn't actually intend to reveal her identity and ploy down there.

I have this theory, that 3H was supposed to be a regular Fire Emblem game, with only one starting route, and branching pathways later. I think that, since Azure Moon is the most put together, the Blue Lions would have been the focus of the story. I mean, think about it: Every BL student has some connection to the plot in the Academy Phase. Dmitri is obvious, Dedue is our Duscur guy, Ashe has that whole shebang with Lonato and Catherine, Sylvain has Miklan, Felix's dad Rodrigue is one of the very few people to show up in the Academy Phase, Ingrid, while not as obvious, is still a member of the childhood friends gang, Annette is in the same boat with Felix, having the Gilbert subplot, and Mercedes has Jeritza. I think they made most of the BL route including the TWSITD story, then realized: "Hey, these other characters shouldn't just be recruitable, everyone likes them. And people have been wanting that morally ambiguous route, right?

Characters can't die pre timeskip,, they just get too injured to fight
