i always save before i choose my dancer when i play blue lions just so i can hear dimitri voice his anger "What?! curse you, Professor. I will of cource accept, but know that you have damned us all"
I remember doing a funny challenge where I played blue lions but literally used everyone who WASN'T in the Blue lions. And then wanting to kill myself in the first post timeskip battle
Its worth mentioning that its not just the increased growths that buff Dmitri's stats - each class has a set of "base" states, and when you unlock a class if your stats are lower than that class's base they get increased to the base. High Lord's base stats are pretty good. And then Dmitri gets 19 levels of good growths.
Fun fact this also means that never using your lord till the time skip so they can become a level 1 unit with the base stats of their class is Weirdly strong
I love FE3H and it’s mechanics so much that it made me interested in doing challenge runs- someone who often gives up on hardest difficulty runs of games midway through. I applaud you for doing something so time consuming and difficult! Blue Lions gang!
When I first heard he wasn’t gonna be training dimitri, my first thought was “Is he relying on post timeskip auto level up?” And lo and behold, I was right.
Yep! I wanted to focus as much EXP into Byleth as soon as posible to get early Thunder brand/Cathrine and Shamir, which you need a high level on Byleth for. Felix was also just far too busted to not focus all the exp into while the less useful units get auto leveled. Dimitri would be just as strong for 0 investment and I could just train him in a single auxillary battle to get him to surpass almost all my units post time skip.
Dimitri is literally the most broken unit in the game. Broken mentally, yes, but I mean unit wise. It's been a while since I've played this game, but I played Black Eagles route first, then did the Abyss. The Abyss quest gave me a Chalice Item that allows melee units to counter attack, regardless of distance. I played Blue Lion next, and I kid you not, Dimitri straight up bulldozed through the whole game. He had the Chalice, with a high crit weapon (any weapon mind you- didn't even have to be a lance), his signature Battalion at 35, and I think Battalion's Wrath, and Battalion's Vantage? He'd crit counter attack before the enemy could even think about attacking. The game from that point on just became less about strategy and more about just deploying Dimitri in the square that aggros the most enemies and skip to end turn. Afterwards I couldn't replicate this with any other unit as they were missing either the skills, or high personal damage(?), not sure. But suffice it to say, Dimitri truly is broken. Which is a shame because other Blue Lions are so good as well. But you are less incentivized to invest in them, since why would you when you don't need anything other than Dimitri?
For anyone who wants to run battalion wrath Dimitri on Maddening, getting the +20 hit from mastering archer class is necessary, nothing sadder than seeing 100 crit miss because of 67 hit. But yeah with that you're pretty much all set the whole run.
New Game+ can lead to shenanigans that you can create with multiple NG+ runs stacking. For example, give Byleth gauntlets and watch the enemy just die.
Challenge runs are always so fun to watch. Especially when they're down to the wire in those last few moments. You're amazing, have my like and my sub!
Awesome job! I did the same challenge myself on Golden Deer Hard mode, and I'm excited to see how our strategies differ! I can't imagine this being possible against Hegemon Edelgard, but clearly it is! Edit: Oh my god I actually got a shoutout in the video lmao thank you so much! Edit 2: Oh interesting, Hanneman and Manuela don't move on Normal mode. They were the one obstacle I couldn't figure out how to clear without using DLC, so I ended up allowing it for my challenge in the end. > Chapter 3 Sucks Totally agree, I only managed to beat it because I got mega lucky. Regarding not getting Lysithea in time for Chapter 6, I wonder if it would be possible to get Hapi to learn Warp by then? She's a guaranteed recruit no matter what route you pick so it would become incredibly reliable. I'm surprised you didn't use Cyril considering how powerful Point-Blank Volley is, but I guess that's hardly necessary when you have Swift Strikes from Sylvain and Seteth! I used my Cyril so much that Sylvain and Seteth just couldn't catch up when they finally learned Swift Strikes. Oh jeez, so much dodgetanking required in the final chapter. I forgot that Royal Lineage+ gave an avoid boost though! Certainly makes it more reliable that way. I might try doing the challenge again on Black Eagles Maddening with Ferdinand von Aegir, who has a similar personal skill. I'll probably use NG+ if I do, though. Hard was already Maddening enough!
My friend (milo) jokingly told me to do this challange but then we realized it was actually a sick idea. I wanted to double check to see if anyone had already done it and wanted to give credit where credit was due! :) (thanks for stealing the golden deer route before me haha) I did use Cyril but I honestly forgot to mention him, he was really solid as most pointblankvolly/swiftstrike users on a wyvern are. Dimitri was the main reason why I went his route for this since I knew that he was insane with retribution. If I wanted I could have given him alert stance+ and the dancer skill of +20 avoid (which my 3am brain thinks is +70 avoid?). Even without those two skills my dodge rates were often 0-15% which was so cool! Also you gotta hit me up if you attempt a MADDENING MODE NO DAMAGE?!?! ARE YOU CRAZY???
Decided to comment since you chose Blue Lions/Azure Moon, my favorite 3H route for challenge runs. The early maps of this challenge were quite interesting to watch. Unfortunately, 3H itself just devolves into a warp skip, stride, 1 turn game very quickly on, so it feels much easier to beat a challenge like this when about half the maps can be cheesed this way. Even so, bravo on the dedication to your challenge. At first I was surprised you didn't use the broken Dimitri battalion wrath/vantage combo to cheese this route. Especially considering how helpful that strategy would have been for your goal of never taking damage. But I suppose you didn't even want to damage the battalion even off screen on a grind map, so that strategy wasn't possible.
I have not really paid attention cause I still have to play this game and don't really wanna be spoiled, but still listened to it, and it's amazing what you did. Great Job!

It’s Normal mode, any higher is reliant on straight RNG. Maddening is even worse since you have to rely on multiple ~60% dodges from enemy archers early game because poison strike deals 10% damage after combat even if it a unit like Dedue takes 0 from the attack.
@@JBRChannel Yeah, I'll grant that Poison Trike would be HELLISH on this, even some enemy units on Normal have it I think (the fight in the Red Canyon where you kill Kostas comes to mind)

You want a real fight? *N O W, D O I T O N M A D D E N I N G*
2:22 correct me if I'm wrong but is the user in the top left referencing PBG?
19:03 plt accurate xD
Had to have taken damage when losing an eye.
I wasn’t there to *see it* so who knows
What difficulty was this on?
29:29 Ayo?
No damage runs are brutal. Pokemon says hello. 👋
I think I missed something...what difficulty was this done on?
It’s Normal mode, any higher is reliant on straight RNG. Maddening is even worse since you have to rely on multiple ~60% dodges from enemy archers early game because poison strike deals 10% damage after combat even if it a unit like Dedue takes 0 from the attack.
@@JBRChannel Yeah, I'll grant that Poison Trike would be HELLISH on this, even some enemy units on Normal have it I think (the fight in the Red Canyon where you kill Kostas comes to mind)
Cool, now try it in Shadows of Valentia
Oh god… don’t tempt me
I wonder why i didn't see poisen Strike in your gameplay. Cause you sad it's maddening but I could see archers hitting and don't activate it.
This is probably addressed later in the video but I think only 3 characters are minors before the time Skip LMAO
Chad
Did you say what difficulty it is?
Yeah I did. Blue lions was done on normal mode. Check out pointblankvt if you want to see golden deer hard mode.
You absolute madman. I always wondered if this was even possible without god RNG.
Now do it on maddening.
oh god oh heck oh god
They are all 18 at least except Lys
So what. Do awakening with zero growths on lunatic plus. I did. I only lost 4weeks of my life.
now do it on maddening 😎
cool vid tho
I know this is petty, but they're not 15 years old. Only Lysithea is. Everyone else is 16 and up! Mercedes is the oldest one, being 22 at the beginning of the game.
Yeah I know that some of them are 18+ but it was just for comedic effect, although I think most of them are under 18 years old?
@@JBRChannel I totally understand! That's why I said it's petty of me to say that. It just strangely bothered me. Yup, most of them are underaged pre-timeskip.
I do wanna tell you that I thoroughly enjoyed the video, by the way! Some real strategic genius here. That inspired me to try a challenge as well to spice things up since I really love this game and have played it a lot.
@@diagrammdiagramm9938 I hate to be petty and nitpicky myself, but Petra is also 15. It always did make Lysitheia’s shtick a little weird to me when there was someone else her age (I forget who’s older between the two).
@@carolbrokethewallagain Thank you for telling me! I didn't realize that because the game made such a big deal of Lysithea being so young. Lysithea herself said that she's the youngest student.
goddamnn
10:24-10:26 me. ❤😊
13:00
God damn
