🇸🇪 Does a day trip to IKEA sound like your ideal Sunday? We just love browsing the staged rooms, cuddling the plush toys, smelling candles, trying to pronounce the Swedish product names, grabbing a plateful of meatballs for lunch, and picking up decor items for our little French apartment. As Americans living in Greater Paris, we can get to our nearest IKEA in just about an hour using public transit, and we desperately needed a few things for our home before we welcome some visitors in a few weeks, so we made a day of it! Come with us for a chill day of browsing furniture, enjoying a meal, being silly together, and trying to fit all of our purchases into one bag! Enjoyed the shopping trip - but you should have bought a second carrier bag to spread the load! In my (admittedly limited) experience, Ikea in Lyon always seems to be so crowded you can barely move, which makes it less fun.

When you two order stuff online for delivery, are you able to get it directly to your apartment? Or do you have to pick it up elsewhere around town? Any tips or tricks for outfitting an apartment with the bigger stuff (couches, beds, etc.) without the luxury of having a car?

Yes, we have it delivered straight to our apartment. You can also pay extra to have it delivered to your door and not just to the front of your building if you live in an apartment. We don’t have a car and that’s how we’ve handled getting bigger items, but our apartment is furnished, so we haven’t needed to add much. There is always the option to rent a vehicle if you are able to drive in France as well!
