Jim thanks for sharing your reactions and glad to hear you enjoyed it. 😎 I am also looking forward to seeing what these actors do next. Craig Stark - the bunker sentry- is in the new Tarantino film.
I love how all of these show such human issues, even when the character is an alien or an imaginary friend or a robot. The way this shows an old soldier dealing with PTSD and trying to exist in a world that has deemed him a threat when all he wants is to coexist on some level is so fantastic. 10/10 Mike Pappa.
FYI, if you'd like, you can try watching this on a computer and pausing when the credits appear. You can use the comma and period keys to rewind or fast forward one frame per press in order to read the credits.
Best thing about this film was the absence of unfinished conversations, wherein suspense is painfully built up by one character either not asking an obvious question, or not answering one. The dialogue was (more or less) pertinent to the situation, hard questions were asked and answers given.
This film short has a very particular appeal for me. In sci fi, my heart is always captured by depictions of little boys forming relationships with robots... like The Iron Giant and Lost in Space, of course. This take on the little boy and big robot theme is absolutely delightful and satisfying!! Thank you, Mike Pappa for making this. Very well done!
Whether Red was a puppet or a robot suit, the nonverbal acting was outstanding, whoever was controlling it's movements. Very subtle but wonderfully expressive.
This was very well done. I felt real emotions and concern for both the boy as well as Crimson Man. He (Crimson Man) was not the monster...but more of a father to the little run away boy. I would love more of this world!

This is the kind of movie that I've been waiting for. If the plot stays strong (say, a lot of movement; don't stay in one place), and the robot was cleaned up a little, then I think it would be a hit! Such a cute kid!
That has been one of my favorites so far! The environment was perfect. The acting was great by all cast. Most of all the robot felt REAL. This film kept you on your toes of whether to trust the robot or not and then developed a complex relationship better than a Hollywood film in all of 20 minutes. Maybe the follow on can flash forwards and backwards from the time of this film showing how they met and the future of their relationship. Fantastic work!

Nimble and original, it was obviously realized by artists, across the board! Thanks for a glimpse of the talent that's "out there." Gives one hope!
Most intriguing. Not bad at all. So Crimson Man is a remnant military robot? Both main characters are very interesting in that they appear to have profound choices to make about who they are and what they stand for, particularly in relation to the struggle of trust and a building friendship between each other. That part of the story is a classic one and works really well here. I think there's great potential for this to be developed into a full length film.
Thanks X Gen 💃🏻 your comments are much appreciated. Yes, Red is thought to be remnant - but we shall see. :) That answer and exploring that “potential” is what I hope to do if I’m able to make the feature. 🎥😎
*_If you need better subtitles, please hit me up. I like doing them; it's like a community service. I donate some of my time each month for doing this._* I love all of the films you make and present. Please, let me know.
Definitely could use a bit of polish here and there, but it is still a super solid story! The narrative and classic take on a boy and his robotic companion was true to the nature of this type of theme. Great camera work, and palette to accentuate the "Crimson" theme. And above all, it presented a goal, but didn't make that goal the end all be all. The boat was just the McGuffin for the real goal which was presenting a heartwarming story of two species understanding one another. Had hints of full metal alchemist and iron giant and almost a live action Miyazaki film. Loved it!!!! 9.5/10 from me. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I just can't believe how good these films are...story ,cinematography ,sound everything excellent. I can't believe that the man who made this isn't a main stream big time director. I've paid big money at the theater and left feeling ripped off and here this is on you tube. Something isn't right in the business when films like this and actors like the little boy are not more well known. I mean a robot with ai and ptsd . kinda reminded me of iron giant one of my favorite movies. More power to all involved with these films.
Steve Mccart thanks 🙏 I appreciate the comments and for watching the film. ❤️ I hope if I’m ever lucky enough to get a film play in the theater that you won’t feel ripped off. 😎

Third film watched tonight, and again a surprisingly good if strange storyline with a very clumsy looking robot with a heart!!! I enjoyed this too. More please.
During the whole of this video, I kept thinking the crimson man looks like a cross between C3PO & a Jawa & sounds like Kylo Ren! LOL! It was great though. Good onscreen chemistry between the boy and the crimson man. It's nice to see they stuck with each other right to the end. A strong friendship.
@@mikepappa I see you're the writer & director! It's great to receive a reply from you. 😊 Well done for the work you put in to this short! I suppose there are only so many non-human creatures/robots that can be created, so there'll usually be similarities somewhere. This Crimson Man has it's own characteristics.
@@mikepappa I look forward to that! I only addressed the storyline in my comment, but I should add that the piece was visually fascinating on every point and Red was sublimely expressive in this medium. The actors were excellent. This film touched on profound trust issues that confront all of us... are we brave to trust in love or foolish? Such depth in such a short span. I really want to know so much more about their story. How does the boy come to think of himself and Red as a team? Red seems to acknowledge this in front of the viewer, but the boy was already very loyal to him. And, something very subtle that I found endearing was Red's apparent attempts at humor. Very well-crafted! Thank you!
Like many others, I agree!! This is Good! This needs to be longer! What happens next!?! ...where they're going kinda looks a bit sketchy, too... DUST is badass!!

Dude there is not a single negative comment ! And a lot want the story to contine , I would guess the dislikes are because they were disappointed that it seemed to end abruptly and left them hanging , I guess they don't know what a short story is ! No one walks off the street and gets an unlimited budget to make a full feature film , Everyone has to start with short film and low budget I have no doubt you will go far , the skies the limit ! You got 7.1 on IMDB which is huge , so clearly everyone was impressed If i was a millionaire i would fund you without hesitation I only hope someone in a position to do so, sees this short and you get the funding you obviously deserve You have a rare talent and i can't believe you are not getting the recognition you deserve I sound like a sycophant ! But i mean every word Just found Frankie on TH-cam :) So you just made my day also :)
Wouldn't it be nice that if in the follow up film the robot was sent as an infiltration unit to get onto the other island, hence the reason they "let" the kid escape. Downside was that the Control powers that be didn't tell the outpost the plan so those men died without knowing why. Great short film and outstanding work on the cosplay foam robot suit. Would love to see more work.

Nimble and original, it was obviously realized by artists, across the board! Thanks for a glimpse of the talent that's "out there." Gives one hope!
Thomas Camilleri awesome 😎 a great comment to see at the end of the day. Much appreciated. ❤️🎥💃🏻glad you enjoyed it.
Robot design is nice, the color of it is nice, the story is nice.
Loved the film.
Thank You.
You are nice! Thanks for the comments, and I am glad you loved the film. :)
I think it's not too much to ask for a full version movie .
Awesome 👍
I wish i could make that full movie. 💃🏻
The little actor is adorable and believable. So many questions, but glad to see they make it
yeah, but that is actually quite rare. normally they don't make it in dust movies
They ONLY made it to the Cliff and they still NEED to make it down to the Dock. We NEED a Sequel.
Best channel on youtube for original content. Scripts aren't the best but the other mechanics of cinematography and acting are wonderful.
No worries Mike. It's impressive work. Best of luck to you for the future in film making. It looks very bright 😎👍
X Gen ❤️🎥🙏
What upsets me about this film is that it is too short. Can there please be more episodes? I absolutely loved this film.
Hopefully one day Ill get to make more of this or a long version. Thanks for watching and the love
*_If you need better subtitles, please hit me up. I like doing them; it's like a community service. I donate some of my time each month for doing this._*
I love all of the films you make and present. Please, let me know.
Yes, this was, at times, hard for me to follow. Otherwise I wish to see more of it, yes more of it,, like a good Animi.
Well done short film. The last conversation was deep and the flipping of the question.
"Why should I trust you?"
Thanks 🙏 it’s my second favorite (proud of) conversation in the film. 💃🏻💃🏻
Welsed thank you for watching and your comments. I liked everything you said ( esp the Miyazaki comment) much appreciated 🤖😎❤️
@@mikepappa a huge thanks for the reply Mike and if you continue to make things of this quality I assure you no one would ever feel ripped off. Good luck with future projects
Steve Mccart 💃🏻👍😎🎥
I hope the Dustx channel comes to Ireland. And I can see G&S and Dust become the biggest player in all thing sci-fi including theatrical films.
Appreciate that Bas, we're hoping to expand our offerings to every corner of the universe.
Two orphans against the world. Loved this ! Thank you !
❤️🤖 thank you for watching!
To be honest, I expected the robot to scream "For the emperor!" at some point
guess I've played too much Warhammer
That's where I recognize the armor plating from...
The emperor protects. The inquisition approves =][=
Me too buddy, me too.
The is AMAZING. What you guys are doing is MOVIE LEVEL POTENTIAL. I really want a sequel to "The crimson Man" Pleaaaase this is amazing.
Phelan Sinclair thanks ! Much appreciated
Third film watched tonight, and again a surprisingly good if strange storyline with a very clumsy looking robot with a heart!!! I enjoyed this too. More please.
john goodall thanks for watching. 💃🏻 clumsy = ❤️ :)
Thanks! A Jawa? I can see it... :p thanks for sharing your comments, and for watching. 🤖
This is great. Please make more! A prequel or sequel!!!
leo shelby awesome! Hoping to... 💃🏻🎥🤖
I want to know more about before and I want to know more about after... so very masterful to show this slice of the relationship!
Love to hear this! Thanks for watching. One day hopefully I’ll be able show all of that :)
Thank you!
Holly Perrin 🙏🙏🙏🙏
I agree with bill summy this should be a full fledged film this got my interest big time to see more of these two
copy bat 9000 awesome. :)
Lot of things in a short movie. Really a good job. Thanks
Thank you for watching! 🙏💃🏻🎥
DUST always has awesome sci-fi shorts. Well done.
I am a guy and I almost never say this...It was BEAUTIFUL gave me some ptsd about my life ,but, that's OK, well done ...THANK-YOU
taco man Thank you for watching and sharing your reactions. 😎❤️🎥
We need a sequel!! I need to know what happens to them!
Would totally watch that as a feature lenght film. That's what missing on modern sci-fi. Heart.
Lucas de Mello Sampaio it’s the plan! Thanks for watching. ❤️❤️❤️🤖🎥
Like many others, I agree!!
This is Good!
This needs to be longer!
What happens next!?!
...where they're going kinda looks a bit sketchy, too...
DUST is badass!!
hereticpariah 6/66 thank you for watching 🙏
Much appreciated
Working on it!
Oh, the mainland is sketchy indeed 💀🧟♂️🏜📡🧨🔫🤖
And yes, Dust is awesome!
@@mikepappa The whole thing was incredible, very ...uh.. organic? ...natural? Anyway, excellent plot, acting, dialogue. Beats a hell of a lot of big$$$ movies in All those regards. PLEASE notify me when more becomes available! Or anything else you might have lying about...
hereticpariah 6/66 thanks again. I do have another short film on Dust called “Frankie “ if you haven’t already seen it.
@@mikepappa gonna check it out right now!
Incredible film making , totally engrossing , you just don't want it to end , we need feature length , this is hardcore sci fi at its very best !
scott mcadam thanks for watching and the comments. 💃🏻😎
You are totally welcome , im not easily impressed , but this was inspired work , i wish you every luck in the future and look forward to seeing more . You a have skill that is missing from the film industry today :)
scott mcadam ❤️ thank you. You made my day. Hope to have more to show in the future 😉
Dude there is not a single negative comment ! And a lot want the story to contine ,
I would guess the dislikes are because they were disappointed that it seemed to end abruptly and left them hanging , I guess they don't know what a short story is !
No one walks off the street and gets an unlimited budget to make a full feature film ,
Everyone has to start with short film and low budget
I have no doubt you will go far , the skies the limit !
You got 7.1 on IMDB which is huge , so clearly everyone was impressed
If i was a millionaire i would fund you without hesitation
I only hope someone in a position to do so, sees this short and you get the funding you obviously deserve
You have a rare talent and i can't believe you are not getting the recognition you deserve
I sound like a sycophant ! But i mean every word
Just found Frankie on TH-cam :)
So you just made my day also :)
Amazing. Truly a timeless film built on a budget.
Jaspreet Grewal much appreciated 💃🏻
We love Mike's work! Looking forward to seeing his first feature someday 🎬
💖💖🎥💃
That was excellent. That young man is quite an actor. Great story too.
Thanks! That young man is now 16! 🙃
steam punk done properly, Dust really is among the best.
Thank you for making this. This is everything that is good about TH-cam Can't wait to see what happens next.
namogel67 thank you for watching! Much appreciated. I hope to finish their adventure soon. 💃🏻🎥😎
