The incredible story of Kazuyoshi Miura | The world's oldest footballer | Icons of Japanese football

  • Kazuyoshi Miura turned 54 one day before the 2021 J.League season. And yet, he still plays in the top flight of Japanese football for Yokohama FC.
This is the incredible story of the world's oldest footballer. A boy who left home at 15 to play football thousands of miles from home, before returning to Japan a hero. A player who went on to win countless titles for the iconic Yomiuri Verdy / Verdy Kawasaki. But a player who also suffered national team heartbreak for Japan.
And, of course, of a player who continues to break records and redefine what it means to be a professional footballer.
No wonder he's called King Kazu 👑

Much respects as a young Mexican I grew up playing soccer all my life. I also looked up to Messi & Cristiano but when I seen & heard about this guys legacy man I got nothing but respect for him. The Japanese are some solid footballers

What makes me interest with _Kazu_ is how he can maintain his shape over 34 years of playing career. i would say no other football player can do like him.
And to Lost in Football Japan, thank you for making this awesome video

pes has given him a 77 rated free legend card (they sometimes give a card to almost retiring legends like iniesta) and he has dead speed and stamina

Yeah, I think Kazu's recent achievements in breaking age-related records have overshadowed his earlier career. He's led a really fascinating life!
Thanks for the support! I appreciate it!

he may not be the "Best player of the world" like Messi or Ronaldo and the likes, but he is certainly the best 50+ year aged footballer of the world.

Nice video! How cheap/expensive are football tickets in Japan (eg a game to watch Yokohama Marinos) in comparison to the premier league? A game in the Emirates against United is well over £100 so just curious about the ticket prices in Japan :)

    • @LostinFootballJapan
      @LostinFootballJapan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks!
Ticket prices vary in Japan. Some clubs sell tickets with dynamic pricing, which means the cost fluctuates depending on demand. But in my experience, I pay roughly ¥2,500 (about £16) for J1 games, usually about the same for J2, and about ¥1,500 for J3. Generally ticket prices are really reasonable in Japan

I don't think Kazu has ever officially confirmed which team it was, but the reports online say it was Hibs. I'm not sure how close they came to a deal. It would have been fascinating!

I just get a PES2021 Legend card as free gift it him the very first super star since the
J League. Look at the data that shown his 50 years old. Its pityful that coach Takeshi Okada did not bring him in squad along 1998 France World Cup. It could be a right decision that rising of Nakata, Nakamura and Shinji Ono was more ability with Europe soccer and build a strong foundation for Japan Football.
Look at today national squad all from European League!

I'm not trying to dirrespect him, but King Kazu should think about retirement.
If he still realy loves football that much, he should became a manager, coach, or even pundit.
I m not saying this to devaluate him, but IMO, if he did that he will give a place to a younger player to shine more brightly than him in J-League.

He doesn't play in j league. He plays at a lower division called j1 league.
