Angled T-Bridle Joint Side Table | Woodworking

  • I made this side table to sit next to my couch. It uses an angled T-bridle join, something I haven't done before. A T bridle joint is essentially just a bridle joint, except it runs through the mating piece. This is usually a simple process with a table saw, but I don't have one, so I came up with a different solution using a bandsaw. The end result worked, here's how I did it.

Lovely Robin and the fatter rail looks fine. You've got a real designer corner going on in the living room now!

Thanks James. Yeah, I'm going to need to build a new room soon to fit it all in haha

Ah very clever. Raising the end of the board up to cut the last of the joint on the band saw was a stroke of brilliance. 👍👍👍

Nice table and some handy hints, thanks. Interesting also to use multiples of 13 just as a design constraint. Watching you mark out those bridle joints, I reckon you would find a mortise gauge very helpful - once set all measurements marked are consistent. Also look at getting a cutting gauge as it creates a "V" in the timber where it's much easier to align your chisel. Cheers, David
