As a Grizz fan from day 1 in Memphis, I can't tell you how awesome it is to see them getting the love and respect this season. They have been doing some crazy things like winning 3 wire-to-wire wins in a row, wining 10 of 12 without JA, wining 11 straight with JA, navigating health and safety winning 22 of 27 since thanksgiving, setting the record for the widest margin of victory every at 73 pts. Thanks for highlighting JJJ and Memphis. They will be in the forefront for the next several years!

Huge JJJ fan, I think he's one of the biggest beneficiaries of the NBA changing the rules to actually let players play defense this year. Saw him straight up rip Steph Curry in two possessions when he got switched on him early in the season and was amazed. Glad he's managed to get some better luck with health this season and Memphis is so much fun to watch.

@@Elchinoalto Yeah I think he's one of those young players who don't realize what his verticality and length actually can do in the pro level until he's executing it consistently. Then he needs the experience because every team situation isn't the same especially when his job to be involved in helping multiple stops of the opposing offenses' half court ball movement. Then he has to learn the foul game which is integral for big men which is not always about force but leveraging it so the refs don't catch you.

die heart grizzlies fan here, it’s insane how much national and big and small youtube pages have shown the grizzlies this season, it’s much love and appreciated. jaren is a huge key in the grizzlies future and he has improved a lot this season for 1 he hasn’t been injured and idc about his shooting from 3 taking a dip this year, he has gotten amazingly better as a overall individual big defender. jaren his first three years got pushed around a lot and couldn’t box out other bigs in the league and the grizzlies would get killed for his lack of strength but jaren has improved his body and is now more balanced and stronger to win battles now, he has a little way to go but he’s getting better and i just think jaren is a key to everything for the season and most importantly the playoffs for years to come.

Here is how good this channel is.
I have absolutely no interest in watching basketball; for one reason or another, the fact that teams score all the time just puts off my interest. However, these analyses are so well done, so poignant, well-informed, and backed up with clear and easy-to-understand evidence that I have yet to fail to follow any of these videos with a keen interest and a curious mind, even though I really don't know anything about the game other than the biggest names.
Additionally, things are expressed colourfully, easily, and funnily without compromising their integrity. What's more, the bread and butter of false gods almost all modern day sports analysts rely upon, causal narrative construction, which seems to be more divorced from reality than descriptive of it, is delightfully lacking.
Every sport needs a scholar of such erudition and passion, sublime achievement!

This is TEXTBOOK on how to develop players properly! Wonderful job by the Grizzlies coaching staff here, just an abundance of different looks, styles, and play-calling for the big man, trusting him with the ball to make plays and continue to push his skillset. When he first entered the league, I admit I was scared they were going to just stick him in the corner to shoot threes and nothing else (Looking at you Chicago with Lauri Markkanen).
A very exciting time to be a Grizzly fan imo.

Back to back games with 6 blocks and 50 within the month of January is insane. If the team would play him more at the 5 this would probably be even higher. He looks best when he’s playing along side Clarke or other forwards than when he’s with Adam’s. I think the Grizzlies would be even better on defense with less of Adam’s in the rotation. Like you said if he improves his efficiency, I don’t think he should ever be a high volume player, he could easily be a top 30 player in the league.

Been a fan of JJJ since you made that first video of him and gave us all the idea of essentially a very tall 3-&-D player. The overarching theme that still exists from the last time was control and he is getting better at it on both ends to show results. Because of his control on defense he is showing more consistent results as a solo multi-effort defender. Much like Giannis in some situations he starts defending the guy at the perimeter either on ball or via PnR, has to stop penetration or passes coming inside then has to make multiple shot block attempts. This does allow Memphis to play better team defense as a whole when you have one dude who can effectively cover half the space of the half court offense especially if he doesn't foul too much with all the contact he's always around. Which makes his ability to read situations and anticipate on defense integral to his growth in his goal to control that part of the floor. On offense as long as he makes simple consistent strides on the stuff he's doing such as PnR passing and body control as he attacks the hoop, he will be more efficient which is what elite 3-&-D players want to do.

Its been good to see JJJ growing into his body a bit more & getting more disciplined on defense. Him adding some weight has made playing @ the 5 a legit option against 80% of the league's centers. Don't much care abt his 3P% this year, the question has always been can he limit his fouls; having the ability to stay with guards/wings on the perimeter and contest @ the rim with the elite of the league is a simply special skillset very few players per generation ever possess.

Grizz built a team around their focal point Ja and they did it the right way, they never held the team back in order to tank they just let them learn to play winning basketball from the start and while it might not have led to a higher pick in 2020 or 2021 its led to this team developing into a good squad that is improving with every season. Ja is a superstar and JJJ has some issues to resolve before he's an true star but I think for a 22 year old to have the impact defensively and occasionally on offence that he does is impressive. A great team around this core they've built and a coach who has helped it improve every season. A very quick & quiet rebuild in a few years by the Grizzlies. Great organization.

I'd love to see a whole video devoted to JJJ defending Jokic

Maybe not -- they use Adams on Jokic pretty much exclusively

As a Michigan State fan and a Mavs fan I REALLY wanted us to draft JJJ. I’m quite happy with Luka as a consolation

JJJ has the potential to be a Ben Wallace caliber player on defense, but with an arsenal of post moves, ball handling ability, and three point range. I mean, holy shit. This guy is a unicorn in the purest sense of the word. As a guy who has been a die hard Grizz fan since the days of Damon Stoudamire and Eddie Jones, I gotta say it feels so good to have such a promising stable of young talent who are not only good, but love playing with each other, and love playing in Memphis. GRIT N GRIND FOR LIFE!

looove the content but could you use a "ding" sound different from the UPS package scan sound? my dog goes into a barking frenzy multiple times during the course of a video lol

He’s basically a slightly “worse” Bam on defense. He’s a really good defender who can guard anyone that isn’t too shift, or a bit bigger than him. His potential on that side was always there, and he’s tapping into it now, it’s great to see.

I’ve always liked JJJ & saw tremendous potential in him since he was drafted. He has like your prototypical PF play style & body type for today’s game. All I want him to do is to keep working on his footwork & fouling a little less & you’ll soon see him being mentioned as a Top 3-5 PF.

Can you do for LaMelo? As i remember you never make analysis for him and he became an Allstar I think it’s good time to do that.

JJJ is, like the rookie from the Cavs, he is defensively mold like KG, so, we have two great paint beasts right there
