No Sir. No Sir. First you missed Pearl Washington and Tim Hardway and even Isiah Thomas as the first ball magicians. AND more importantly Street ball dribbling influenced all the guys I mentioned and Iverson not the other the way around. The And 1 mixtapes introduced America at large to what Black kids where doing in the Parks for decades
As a heat fan Tim hardaways crossover in my favorite move but my was the true magician first or maybe you could argue magic johnson while Tim hardaway being very close up there another good mention is penny hardaway as well before iverson
I played professional basketball in Greece (2nd Division) for 4 years and I was a decent defender who took pride in his defensive awareness. The hardest players to guard were always the scorers who could move without the ball.
Would you please explain this again. English isn't my first language. I don't get what you mean with "the scorers who could move without the ball", but I imagine it's something smart.
yo i love this video and u def got a lot of talent n it’s unique. but u might wanna get a mic tho bc vocal mix is a little off putting. great video tho fasho
When they cross and push you away simulatiously and say "Broke them ankles" is crazy Also people don't know what an ankle breaker is one friend once made a simple cross and went around me "I didn't move at all" just to miss a lay up and say "I snatched your ankles tho"
Same thing happening to football ⚽. Last time in 90s to early 2000s u would see players performing insane dribbling skill like ronaldinho and young neymar . Nowadays you wont see crazy skills and dribbles in football because it has changed to a more tactical sport where players now have to follow their coach's tactics in order to win a game instead of entertaining the fans.
There was a time the streetball and 1 was close to rivaling the NBA and then it "mysteriously" disappeared. In the streets where I played we all were copping and1 moves not the nba. I personally liked the and1 era the most. steph before his injury was considered to have the title for best handles. and then there was James Harden, Westbrook, and Irving.
There's so much I could say about this but simply, soccer has the exact opposite issue. Well, for the most part. The most important part of how Basketball players are ranked is by trophies, clutchness, and STATS. While soccer players are ranked by trophies, clutchness, stats, and how they make you feel while they play. Or basically how they dribble. Players who can dribble to such an extent, are a lot of times ranked above players with better stats and more trophies. Players who have good stats, but poor dribbling will get ranked low. And if you elevate a player simply because of his stats, you will be insulted as a fan who doesn't understand the game. Dribbling is the most important part of the game of soccer for most fans
The leagues like this for know, until I come into the league with insane handles a ridiculous vertical bringing back the fadeaway jumper and the streetball shenanigans just wait
Man, I have the same dream! I want to bring back the streetball cult, early 00's Alimoe, mid 00's King Handles, late 90's Skip, let's never give up dawg!
@@yukidokie6449 I’m only in middle school 8th grade but just had a game where I had 21 points career high, the ref said to me at the end of the game “ your a cold blooded killer”
It's not even the ankle breakers that make Kyrie the best ball handler in this era; it's how he manipulates the ball as if it's part of his body, getting into the position he wants and creating shots only he can make.
basketball is a contact sport which means you actually can and will engage some phisicality while breaking ankles. I mean the most famous Jordan ankle breaker WAS the pushoff. And yet, todays basketball is not about efficency but more about quantity. Kevin Garnett spoke well about it.
Iverson didn't create that crossover dribble. It's true name is the DC crossover as that is the area from which it originated on the late 1980s. Iverson learned it from Dean Berry, a walk on player at Georgetown.
It is possible to float the ball without carrying by constantly accelerating laterally. You have to play at the edge of the rules otherwise your not playing at a high level. If you have large enough hands and enough dexterity you can run a dozen steps on one dribble, no carry. More if you turn around and accelerate the ball retrograde tho this is impractical. The issue is people trying to replicate this without knowledge or getting checked. But also not everyone can physicaly do this without a carry. Most people are average. As long as people are having fun in their yard who cares. Good video :)
you should make a video on how the best basketball ability is availability since a lot of basketball players are just getting injured and cant play for most of seasons
Keyword CARRY. Which 99.9% of the league does. For over a decade NBA has scratched carrying violations from the rule book. Dribbling in the league today makes me cringe to watch.
Kyrie perfected this art if they make a book on basketball handles for some reason he will be the pinnacle of it what people think MJ is to basketball as a whole is what Kyrie actually is at this specific skill of the game
I don't think we will ever get to the point where we say Kyrie is a bum. The reason why we call players back them bums is because a lack of basic skill like not being able to dribble with a left hand (or having no left hand in general), or not being able to shoot. Nowadays everyone can shoot or dribble with a left hand, and a lot of the plays from back then that were legendary are just regular now. There is only so much a sport can progress. The game of basketball isn't that old so that's why it has progressed so much, but there is only so much that can improve
"How can you say you broke a man's ankles when you pushed him" ... I felt that.
Yeah, he's talking to you, Tatum.
But they did… literally 😂
