This was one of my all time favorite runs. I was also picking it up monthly and have the first 30 issues in floppy and have been slowly acquiring the collected editions.
When I was young, my dad spontaneously purchased the first tbp of this series. From there, I collected every single book in the Ultimate universe (Xmen, FF, all the team ups and crossovers) up to the 2015 secret wars by Hickman.
It's wonderful that with the rise of the MCU and into the spider verse, this series is getting it's due in the public eye.
As a 26y/o, I still love this entire run and will continue to revisit it for many years to come. Thanks for this.
Was lucky to be able to collect this when it started as kid, Loved traveling over a hour to a huge comic store every couple of months to pick up all the issues...and now I have both of the longest Spider-Man runs in history (Bendis and Dan Slott)
Yes! This helped me out a lot I’m wanting to start getting into comics and story’s and people have been recommending the ultimate story line and so i want to start reading it in order thanks you!
I binged these in trade knowing I would likely never see an omni. It was also before I started down the Omni/collected editions path. I would love if they ever reprinted the omni or re-released new editions of the OHC and continued till the end. It was just nice to have a new take on a character around since 1963. People say the Ultimate Universe was a product of it's time but I would happily direct anybody wanting a start point to Spider-Man to the Ultimate stuff. Then if they want to catch up on 57 years of actual continuity that's for them to decide. USM is like the CliffsNotes to the actual universe.
Omar, I absolutely LOVE this look at the Ultimate Spider-Man run!! You got me very excited and wanting to get into the Green Lantern series and now I'm DEFINITELY wanting to deep dive into this series. Do you think I could go up to Volume 12, read the Ultimatum books and Death of Spider-Man? That is if I wanted to go into the Miles stuff later. As always, love your stuff!
You can absolutely go all the way to volume 12 and then read those.

The other thing I would recommend reading early in the run if you can get it is Ultimate Marvel Team-Up. It was removed from Ultimate canon but it features Ultimate Spider-Man teaming up with ultimate versions of other marvel characters. The main reason it was removed from continuity was the other Ultimate versions of characters are sometimes quite different from the Ultimate versions released later when they got their own books.

As far as ultimatium yeah that’s series was a complete and utter trainwreck
I'm just looking at these right now and the prices for a lot of it is insane (even in softcover.) This was my favorite series before I gave up comics for a few years and never went back to it. I have the omni and vol.4 hardcover and a few random softcovers but I was really looking forward to starting to collect these again until I saw the prices. Crazy! They need to reprint these soon!
I completely agree. Which is why I hope Marvel reprint the Ultimate Spidey books.
I think the first four paperback vol are re:printed pretty recently. I bought them last year.
I do love ultimate Spider-Man comics it was really good and frankly I feel like this was bendis at his peak before he went downhill real fast but that’s just my opinion
there was a time when everything Bendis wrote was gold, i think he started going downhill as soon as the ultimate line ended with secret wars.

With Spider-Man set to come out next year I’m hoping we get a vol 2 omni for ultimate Spider-Man
I started buying the Ultimate Collection (softcover version, collecting the same issues as the equivalent hardcover), but since vol 7 was published in June 2017 I haven't heard anything else.. Was this dropped by Marvel? Any chance they launch the remaining volumes or should I start looking for alternate formats? Is there any good way to contact Marvel about this?
(btw, excellent videos, I've also been buying some Complete collections and your guides to what is out of print are great)

I'm with you. I couldn't put Ultimate Spider-Man down when it was coming out. I was so disappointed when Marvel decided to end the Ultimate universe like they did with 2099 and M2. While I didn't like all the decisions made with the Ultimate universe (Ultimatum & Doomsday), it was a great place to modernize & experiment. Bringing Miles over to 616 felt off. Marvel had this great place to introduce new characters for a modern age, and they ended it. Great show Omar.

I've been interested in the Ultimatum Companion OHC. What did you mean when you said you bought that for other reasons? Can you maybe do an overview? I suppose it wouldn't make much sense considering that it is OOP.

I’ve read through volumes 1-4 and got discouraged with the Sinister Six and all that Cpt America, Thor bs. I probably will get volume with Carnage though. Do you guys have any recommendation which volumes can I skip and which should I definitely get (Spidey fan, Avengers and Marvel as a whole are not really my thing)
Ultimate spider man volume 1 TPB was my first comic book
I have a chance to pick up (at a reasonable price to be fair) a copy of the Ultimate Spider-man Omnibus Volume 1 - however since the remaining volumes 4-12 Hardcover OHCs can't be obtained for a reasonable outlay at all, I'm concerned that in terms of hardcivers I will be left high and dry.
On an omnibus related point I also have a chance to get hold of a sealed copy of The Avengers Omnibus Volume 1 for not too extreme a price, I already have Volumes 3 and 4. Is Volume 1 a worthwhile purchase or shall I just stick with 3 and 4?

Miles Morales Ultimate Spider-man omnibus, Astonishing X-Men both 5th of June
If all these dates are true then June is going to be a really expensive month!
I'm hoping they reprint the omnibus and then because of sales collect the rest of the series.
@@NearMintCondition looking at the number of issues, I estimate that it will need three omnibus to cover the entire run.
Oh BTW when during the Q&A on worse collected edition I thought that you were going to reply with the Daniel Way Deadpool run! Which is something that I've avoided purchasing due to the considerable number of negative comments about it...
One more thing to mention is that pre-orders are up for 2nd wave Dawn of X - e.g. Dawn of X volumes 7 to 16 plus associated volumes, including Sword of X Hardcover crossover. Not sure that I will partake in this second wave yet... another 9 TPB + at least hardcivers, not counting the Juggernaut softcover...

The first omnibus just covers the first three HCs.
It's crazy to think that so much is owed to Ultimate Spider-Man. It helped get Marvel back on track, inspired so much for the first Tobey Maguire film, and even added more layers to Peter Parker's origin story beyond just a couple of pages from the very first comic. While the Ultimate Universe is mixed at best, Ultimate Spider-Man is the best thing you'll find and is definitely worth collecting.
I have managed to read ultimate spiderman up until volume 19 (issue 117 I think?) by just finding the trades online or in random comic stores but I’ve been looking for volume 20 and everything after for almost a year now with no luck except maybe for an absurd 100 dollars for one trade paperback on eBay deal. This run is so good, I don’t see why marvel doesn’t reprint it for newer readers man.
They are giving us a reprint of the omnibus later this year.

@Near Mind Condition do you know why there is this gap between the OHC Vol. 9 and 10? Issue 106-111 is missing and I wonder why they didn't include those because there is happening some relavent things there.
Everything is collected. Not sure what i missed. But there is no gap between these. I think I maybe mistyped something.
@@NearMintCondition I checked my books afterwards too and it says Vol. 9 collects 97-105 and Vol. 10 collects 112-121. You can check it too, i doubt that you made a mistake there.
@@ReRix369 Let me ask you something. Do you have actual volume 9 or the Clone Saga OHC? The volume 9 has 97-111. The Clone Saga OHC has 97-105. I just double checked with my HCs.

Ive read all the ultimate spiderman and miles moralis. Is there any other books i need to read before secret wars ? Ive started the Hickman avengers omnis and wasnt sure if there before secret wars or not.

Omar, I think it would be cool to do a video mapping out what could be and hopefully will be the next 2 or 3 volumes of Ultimate Spider-Man.
You could call it Map My Web or something like that.
I think Volume 2 could be: #40-71 and Ultimate Six #1-7
Volume 3 could be: #72-111, Annual 1-2
Volume 4 would then be #112-133, Annual 3, Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #1-14, and Requiem 1-2
That's assuming they reprint Death of with the same contents. They could redo that one and make it Volume 5 or include that with Volume 4, although that would probably make it too big. (That's what she said!)

So I have the trade paperback of the ultimate collection, how many of those are there available? Are there also 12 like the hardcovers that are shown in this video? Because It only seems like there are only 7 of the paper back version that I can find online
I was also collecting the Ultimate collecction tpbs, but it does seem like they stopped after 7 and they never finished them. so you'll have to collect the individual trades, which some can be hard to find, or you can upgrade to the omnis. Volume 2 comes out in a few weeks, and volume 3 has been announced, so it seems like they will be reprinting the whole series in omnibus format for now.
I did manage to collect the first 7 ultimate collection trades, and buy the rest of the individual volumes to collect the whole series, but tbh it doesn't seem worth to go down that road if they're hard to find and can be pretty expensive (I only did that because it was before I knew there would be some omnis). My recommendation would be to switch to the omnibuses as I did. It's possible that they will reprint the tpbs at some point, but who knows when that could happen.

@@petermctague5090 It seems that the omnis line up for every 3 ultimate collection tpbs. So omni volume 1 would have the first 3, then volume 2 will have the second 3 (4-6), and so volume 3 will collect what's in volume 7 and more.
So if you're not looking to upgrade what you already have in the Ultimate Collections, then you'd have to wait for volume 3, even though you're still double dipping a little, and that is scheduled to be out on September of 2023 (though dates for these things are known to change all the time so be aware of that).

For me ultimate spider-man collecting all the single issues end with Spider-men 2. The run in the tpb you show up was almost what I put my continuity. I only stop ultimate spider-man Morales when he go on the top of the building and see the secret wars beginning I would said then secret wars tpb it's a must and then Spider-men 2 the end. Verry good video.

I want to know why Marvel hasn't released additional volumes of the omnibus. I enjoyed Vol. 1 so much that I read it during a weekend. It seemed like they would print the whole series, but we have had 3 movies since then and no additional Ultimate Spiderman.
I'm sure for the same reason they never did a New Avengers volume 2 or GOTG volume 2 omnis. Sales.

Hey! This comment is late do I doubt you’ll see it. But quick question… I’m about to pick up the first 3 omnibus collection books, one problem though.They only go up to issue #111. I was looking on Amazon and saw that volume 10 (issues #112-121) are either unavailable or super highly priced. I think I saw volume for around $250. So basically I’m asking, why are they so expensive? And is there another way I can collect these for a cheaper price? I want to finish it so bad but I can’t pay that much for 9 issues when I’m collecting nearly 50 for $100

If marvel reprinted the Oversized hardcovers or continued the Omnibuses of it then they can have my money, yes I have the entire series via trade, but it’s oversized Bagely art, my first series that got me into comics, and for me my favorite comic series, so triple dipping yes please. Was considering getting the new Miles morales omnibus that’ll come out next month and get the reprint of the other omnibus, also want to get that Ultimates omnibus too, marvel please do more ultimate reprints in oversized format, they’re not in print for the most part and you would make money, please and thank you.

Also can I just confirm one thing in the first miles Omni: I have the issues 1-28 as singles, but you then mention another series with issues 1-12. Is that 12 issues still in the ultimate universe continuity?? I never heard of it!!
Those 12 issues are part of the ultimate universe continuity! They take place between Cataclysm and Secret Wars.

I read up to Ultimatum in the Spider-Man universe at the library and I was devastated because I thought he actually died because they didn't have the rest of the comics

@@drydenbaker5046 They're out there in tpbs and hardcovers. Personally I still have all my individual issues of the ones that aren't in omnibus. So #40-148 plus Annuals 1-3, Ultimate Six 1-6, Requiem 1-2. Think that's it. The renumbering gets confusing.

Probably cashing in on the Spiderverse movie and they knew that OHC collectors would grab them. I'm hoping they kickstart this line again.
Honestly, I think USM is just Bendis' best work because it was such a simple idea: re-do Spider-Man for a modern audience. Bendis didn't have to reinvent the wheel or necessarily do "a new take" on something. So much of the Spider-Man head cannon was so established, he didn't need to be wordy or clever. That's why the series was so successful and popular, IMO.

Eh you can skip Ultimate The End. It's a Secret Wars tie in. The only "necessary" part is the end of the last issue but it's very explicitly said and explained why it happens in Secret Wars. Great reading order video.
I think it explains how a certain character is still alive in the 616 universe.
@@NearMintCondition Yeah in Secret Wars we see Peter asks how that character is to Miles. And the moment Molecule Man "owes" him that. Ultimate End we see that character back is all.
Can you check back in with David Gabriel about the possibility of continuing the Ultimate Spider-Man omnibus volumes?
I just find it kinda crazy that Marvel won't print one of the best, most successful, and influential Spider-Man runs of all time.
It would have to be reprinted to see if the sales warranted a second volume. But of course I'm checking.
