Its about time. Alice in Chains were and still are one of the most underrated and overlooked bands of the 90s. I like Nirvana and all but something about Alice in Chains is much more appealing, perhaps the depressing lyrics or much more interesting and varied riffs. Either way, great video
I was thinking exactly the opposite. I never really understood the appeal of AIC and found a lot of the other bands of that period so much more musically creative.
A cool trick Dave Jerden, the producer for most of AIC albums, did was he'd mic both the front and back of the guitar cabinet with an SM57s or MD420s to make it sound thicker.
Needed to thicken up as mostly one guitarist, apart from Layne on a couple like Angry Chair. Mad Season Layne nails the guitar. Great trick though, I might it. Must have had an open back cab involved? Great name by the way. If I ever have a kid boy or girl thats their fuckin' name.
Indeed, "Black gives way to blue" is really brilliant, I just love it. The other two I don't like as much, but there's some really good stuff in there as well.

I've always loved Jerry's distinct way of writing riffs/songs. He definitely has a predisposition toward eerie chromatic half-step stuff....but with an undercurrent that is very blues-based. That's definitely his niche....
