Thank you for the recipe, I made this yesterday using olive oil and Shea butter, I used BTMS 25 as my emulsifier, it came out creamy yet thin enough to use in a spray bottle, perfect 👌 thanks for posting this recipe
Made this today for someone. It came out great 👍🏾 I made a tea water with Black seed, Fenugreek, 2 Cloves, Rosemary and Black tea. I used Lemongrass and peppermint for scent and used BTMS 25 as my emulsifier
Oh I just LOVE this!! With my VERY low porosity hair doesn’t do so well with oils but my hair loves glycerin so I may use more glycerin than oil. Or I may just heat it up before using. TIP: For other low-porosity people, Because warm products work better on my low porosity hair, I recently bought a Phillips Avent baby bottle warmer on Amazon for my hair products and I use small travel sized glass pump or spray bottles for warming (got them on Amazon but take the caps off while warming) Just before I get in the shower, I turn it on and it’s heated in 3mins. Just make sure it’s just gently warming not boiling (the high setting boils the water in the warmer). I use it to melt my butters as well. I can even get a 2c mason jar into that warmer for mixing things. Game changer!
Aww I'm so glad!! I wanted to make a variety of different products because I know everyone has different hair needs. Absolutely feel free to tweak and customise as you see fit 😊
OMG! You have done it again! My hair is very dry. Well, I should say was. This leave in Conditioner is beyond amazing. I agree! Your videos are on a different level. Thank you for showing, teaching and sharing with us. So glad I found your channel!
Hello Elise. I love your videos. What scares me most in my natural skin care and hopefully one day hair care line are the preservatives. Could you make a video or something to help guide us in what to look for in choosing the right preservatives?
Hey sis I stumbled across your channel and I'm glad to learn more from you. I make a lot of my own natural hair products and would like to know more about how to preserve without having to put everything in the freezer. Lol.
I’m looking for a protective style spray leave in conditioner and who pops up first my girl Elise. Thanks girl this is exactly what I wanted but I think I’ll swap the shea with cupuacu my favorite hair butter.
This is such a great video! I feel like i don’t need to look any further. Im a Braider and want to make my own leave in conditioner for my clients. This video is exactly what I needed. Thank you!

Hi, love the idea and I made it straight away. I had a problem though: as soon as it cools down it completely separates from the water and it looks like the formulation broke, I followed the recipe precisely and I can't figure out why this happened, pls help me🙏
My formulation separated also. I read the response to another post that it may be the emulsifier. I may have to try using another one myself. I read that someone else used BTMS 25.
Every video I watch of yours makes me so excited to make my own products! Thank you so much for sharing! Btw you are so beautiful and you have a great sense of style!
Yeah so I watched this again and realized I spoke too soon before I watched the full video. I commented that oil and water don't mix but was quickly educated after I watched this full video. Hello, I'm from the Philippines. I love your DIY leave-in conditioner. I did that, but I think I got something wrong as mine turned from white to a brownish color after one day. Do you think I made a mistake in the procedure? I hope you see my comment. Thank you!
Hello Elise, absolutely love your channel, you are a beauty Wizz 😊 Just wondering if you have a hair detangler recipe? I've looked everywhere on TH-cam but don't want a cheap nasty diy. Thanks heaps hun 😊
Greetings, I love the end result look of this recipe and most of the ingredients used however, I was wondering if this recipe would be just as effective minus the emulsifier and preservative? I'm aware of the potential bacterial growth which is why I usually make my diy's for a 1wk use only.
The emulsifyer helps to mix the oil and water phases together seamlessly without the chance of separation or having to shake the mixture each time. You could try and mix them without it but once left alone it'll separate.
Hi Elise, love the content really informative. Do you think you'll be show us how to make a leave-in hair mousse? Do love using hair mousse but know that many ingredients aren't benefiting my hair.
Thanks Elise for sharing your knowledge. I've been thinking of looking online on how to make my own hydrating /conditioning spray. Soo glad i found you. Do you purchase the emulsifier and preservatives online?

Do all hair care products need to be oh balanced? I noticed in this video you didn’t balance the oh but for the rinse out /leave in conditioner video you did.
Sorry hun I don't have the link to the specific scale but it's a coffee scale that you can buy from amazon, the preservative is Leucidal liquid SF and it's currently being sold at LotionCrafter. 💚

It can be a nightmare finding good containers! Unfortunately, I mainly go with trial and error - I've had these for a while so I no longer have the link but I got them from amazon. Online stores like ebay, amazon & etsy tend to give you a lot of affordable options. Hope that helps 😊

I love your diys please what natural preservative can you recommend for leave in hair spray ( with just tea infused water and oils without emulsifier? Thanks
I have a question, I made a spray using a water like yours, emulsifying wax, natural preservative, veggie glycerin and Shea butter. My mixture smells good and everything seemed to have blended well except for the Shea butter it separated after I transferred it to the spray bottle. It has remained separated, what can I do to fix that? In your video there didn’t appear to be any Shea butter separation. Your advice would be greatly appreciated loved the video.
Thanks for watching. Recipes can contain similar ingredients but each formulation has different percentages - it might be due to the emulsifying wax but if possible you'll need to check back with who created it. 😊
Hello! I watched several of your videos and I'm excited about making your products, starting with the conditioning spray. I do have a question if you don't mind. My daughters like braids, would you recommend your conditioning spray for that type of style? Also, you didn't specify which emulsifying wax you used, would BTMS 25% Behentrimonium Methosulfate Cetearyl Alcohol Emulsifying Conditioner work for this recipe? I'm trying to use EXACTLY what you used to minimize problems on my end. This is sold on Amazon, would definitely get to me quicker than one coming from overseas, especially with everything backed up. Please excuse the long text, I'm just trying to make sure I make this right for my girls. Thank you.
Hello, Ellise, thank you for your inspirational ideas!! I love the simplicity of your recipes, it's a huge advantage not only for lotionmakers but for our skin as well. However, my emultion in this recipe failed twice with different emulsifiers the second time, yesterday I did it with Montanov68, this emulsifier works with little amount of oils . I put less shea butter , the whole amount of fats was 7 and I put very little amout of coconut milk for stabilizing the emultion, in the morning it seperated. The idea is great, but I don't know how to make it workable.
Hi I love all your videos , I wondered if I could ask you a couple of questions I'm new to creating my own products so just figuring out what sort of things are interchangeable, 1 in other videos you have said how honey can be used instead of glycerin, is that the same for this conditioner. 2 can jojoba oil be changed for anything else .
