Thank you for all of the information!! I ordered the moisturizing mask and Vitamin C serum after your video. I actually appreciate the smaller serum size. Especially with a Vitamin C serum that is not in an airtight pump. By the time you get to the bottom of a larger serum, I feel like the efficacy would be too diminished. Great review!!

Thank you for the review. I love Paula’s Choice products, but I live in Canada 🇨🇦. This means the products are higher priced for us due to the rate of exchange, ($1USD is $1.23CAD), and Duty at Customs 🛃 (depending on the goods ordered) and tax. So, her $29.50 BHA Exfoliant is $36.34 in Canada 🇨🇦. Her company is very good about sending Canadian customers a discount code to eliminate the $5 that used to be charged by PC for border fees.
The taxes are fairly low to Alberta because we don’t have a provincial sales tax, but I was living in Nova Scotia when I was ordering her products. NS has a high provincial tax rate combined with the federal sales and service tax (GST). The combined tax there is 15% HST. Then, there is shipment to Canada, which is typically charged at an international rate. I think there should be a North America rate of postage and a separate international rate. You don’t have to cross an ocean 🌊 to mail to Canada 🇨🇦, so it should be a different rate.
That’s why I stopped buying her products. I love them, but when the exchange rate is what it is currently, the more we pay, not counting the rest of the potential fees.
I heard Paula’s Choice is now in Sephora USA 🇺🇸. I’m really hoping that Sephora Canada 🇨🇦 starts selling her products, though I was disappointed that she sold her company. It no longer feels like I’m supporting her outstanding effort at being a brand that doesn’t embellish results from using particular products. Most importantly, Paula taught us how to be savvy consumers in an industry where there needs to be more oversight of all of the bogus marketing claims.

Just like you, my fave is also the 2% BHA and my least fave was the 20% Niacinamide. I agree with everything you said about the niacinamide...I loved the texture and how great it sat underneath my makeup but I also had breakouts when using this. I tried 4 times with a break between to be sure it was in fact THIS product causing the reaction, and every time my skin developed problems.

The simple, only reason why original form of C-serum should be smaller size is because it oxidizes really quickly. I actually appreciate that it is not 30ml, because otherwise you'll waste your product once it turns yellow/orange.

The first few products are the ones I use for my oily acne-prone skin and I fell in love with them, except the C15 booster which caused me rash, redness, and itchiness. I think I'm allergic to L-Ascorbic acid only but I do well with derivatives of vitamin C (such as sodium ascorbyl phosphate). Unfortunately, I'm also allergic to niacinamide, so that 20% bottle would've killed me. I suggest you guys use no more than 3-5% niacinamide which is the perfect concentration with maximum efficacy and minimum irritation.

how the C15 Super Boost compares to the Skinceuticals CE Ferulic? I use the PC one, but have always wanted to try the Skinceuticals one. It's just sooo expensive!

    • @SincerelyMissAsh
      @SincerelyMissAsh  3 ปีที่แล้ว

They both have similar ingredients in terms of them both being 15% Ascorbic Acid and both containing Vitamin E and Ferulic Acid. I am not sure what the % is for the Ferulic Acid and the Alpha Tocopherol ingredient in the C15 Booster but Paula's Choice has more ingredients in their formulation compared to Skinceuticals.
They are similar in texture but I find Skinceuticals to be a tad thicker. I also find that Skinceuticals has improved my occasional breakouts and also find it to perform better in terms of brightness but of course these are things I noticed when using the serum. It's definitely expensive but it's worth trying it out in my opinion☺️

Wait Ash, you don’t use PC Azelaic? I think it’s the best Azelaic OTC for redness & mild Rosacea! I use it daily & couldn’t be w/o it to totally control Tret redness. I also like PC Calm Soothing Toner (Normal to Dry) w/licorice root (to reduce redness) & PC BHA 9, which effectively targets blemishes & red marks. I’ve realized the peeling mask is too much for me & stopped using. And I way overused the BHA 2% & really irritated my skin, so I don’t use it more than once or twice a week.

I'm guessing the reason the Vitamin C comes in 20ml and not 30 is because it has L-ascorbic acid. It oxidises really quickly and isn't too stable so it's better to have less in a jar and buy more often, otherwise you're wasting roughly the last 30% due to oxidisation.

It's called "Differin Gel" Adapalene 0.1% I am not sure where you can purchase it in Cyprus but you could try Amazon or iHerb.. Some countries sell this over the counter.

IS Paulas Choice Vita C booster a dupe of Skinceuticals ?

I don't think there's a single PC product that is bad for skin, or that has harmful ingredients. . Unlike almost all other lines, which usually have some problem products with problem ingredients.

I most definitely still use Tretinoin (5-6) days a week so the nights I don't use it I use the BHA ☺️

Maybe they make the Vitamin C serums only 20ml because of how unstable it is. So it definitely won't go bad if you use it in time. At only 20mls...I'm sure that won't be hard
EDIT:Kinda like the Shampoo and Conditioner these days! I get like 10oz of Shampoo but only 8oz of Conditioner! Not cool!
