I lived in Byker in 1999. I lived next to a drug dealer, he was very polite, and we would regularly have a moan about the pigeon crap and fleas living in the windows. One day I woke up to my car on bricks, and he said he knew the scally who had taken them and got them back for me. It was the worst part of my life. I was on the dole and working part time cleaning toilets in a factory. I remember Winter was the worst, climbing a hill in the pounding rain and wind going to a job I loathed cleaning other people's skid marks. I felt demoralized and hopeless. I lived on one plate of pasta and raisins each day and had to sell all my possessions for food. Then one day I snapped, something in my brain clicked and I realized that if I was determined enough, strong enough, I didn't need to live like this. I couldn't tolerate this for one more day. I had to get my sh** together. It was do or die! I applied to uni as a mature student, fought hard to get funding and got into a course that only took 6 people a year. I clung onto that opportunity like a drowning man clings to a raft. I felt like an imposter at the beginning, like I didn't deserve to be among successful people, it felt weird, but slowly my self-confidence grew and grew, and I felt great pride in working hard and doing well. I went on to publish a book and take a PhD. Moral of the story, its never too late to live your life, until you are dead, and then it is.

I've got to say I don't have much sympathy for the homeless in the UK. There is SO much opportunity and help available.
I lived for 6 years in México, no such thing as benefits, you smell the homeless before you see them. Many die from dehydration.
Most in the UK just spend all their money on drugs and don't really want the help (until they crash from the drugs and run out of money).

Very little support is given and most kids and young adults in the system are just left to be groomed by criminal gangs or left to engage in drug abuse/alcoholism in unregulated, unregistered 'care homes' that become a hotbed of crime and anti-social behaviour.

It's actually quite simple, because we live in a debt based economy, the government has limited funds to allocate to social programs, without increasing borrowing. The next argument is, why do they keep bringing in all these foreigners... easy, so they can be debted up to keep the economy going. People aren't having 4-5 kid families anymore, so the economy needs more people from somewhere for this very reason.

Just found your channel, so raw, so sad yet such a good watch! I hate seeing people struggle especially when there not getting the help they clearly need! Iv been clean over a year and no the struggle, was never on the streets or hanging about, always private but I know the struggle and I would’ve ended up there! Good people get taken by addiction and we all need to remember these people are human and there a certain way because they’ve been mistreated by probably everyone in there life so they end up not caring about themselves and end up a mess, it’s so sad!! Thank you anyway for showing the true problems of country and people ❤

I have heard this is the state of all cities across the UK.
A once Great Britain is no longer so. If I was younger and able I would be out of this country as soon as possible. There’s nothing good to see now. I ask myself, where would I love to live out the rest of my late life, my answer is somewhere that actually takes pride in their country and its people. Somewhere hot, clean and near the beach. England is not a country that has its citizens backs. We have lost our country. It’s sad as our forefathers fought for our freedom that is now been stripped away and our freedom of speech is non existent. Can we get this country back on track, I doubt it, imo.
