As per recent survey, Venezuela has the world's largest oil reserves at 300 billion barrels of proven deposits, followed by Saudi Arabia at 265 Billion barrels. Also, the reason gulf countries are able to produce cheaper oil, boils down to "production cost per barrel". You see, oil can be extracted at various sources employing multitude of methods. In the gulf region, you just have to dig a bore well in the desert and oil gushes out. But in places like north sea, you need to establish an oil rig in the middle of the ocean which is expensive. Similarly, in USA they employ hydraulic fracturing simply known as fracking, which is cheaper than extracting via ocean rig, but way more costly than digging the desert like in middle east. So, while the Saudis can extract a barrel of oil for 7 USD, Americans with fracking method have to spend in excess of 40 USD for the same. While it takes 65 USD or more to extract from an oil rig. So while Saudis can sell oil at 45 usd per barrel and still make a decent profit, canadians , Brits and Yankees cannot

நான் முதலில் இருசக்கர வாகனம் 2008ல் வாங்கி அதற்கு பெட்ரோல் போடும் போது அதன் விலை 50.30காசு. ஆனால் இன்று தினமும் வண்டியை பார்த்து விட்டு போகிறேன் இதில் ஒரு காலத்தில் நாம் பயணம் செய்தோம் என்று. ஆனால் இன்று இருக்கும் பெட்ரோல் விலைக்கு ருபாய் 101.50காசுக்கு வண்டியை விற்று விடலாம் என்று பார்க்கிறேன் யாரும் வாங்க முன் வருவதில்லை. காரணம் அங்கேயும் அதே சங்கதி தான்.
