Great tip on the helmet position, I have struggled with this previously.

Thanks for the video's, really enjoying them, simple and precise. I'd never thought about helmet position before (haven't done track day yet, but getting things i need ready) so great to learn something simple like that. Maybe you could do a boot comparison, as thats where i am at now, there are a lot of good boots, but seem bulky and stiff, and hard to put on. Cheers

Racing helmet for the track. So right about craning your neck!

Thanks for the videos Simon, love your work. I was wondering if you could elaborate on why you prefer the one piece suit? For those of us looking to save a bit of money the two-piece is very attractive because it's like you also get a "free" jacket for the road.

It seems obvious a one piece is safer, as the two peice could split at the weak point(zipper) if you have an off and exposing yourself to some road rash.

Yes, a one piece is safer, of course the two piece suit is appealing for the reasons you describe, but like vongnz mentioned the two piece can and will tear in the zipper exposing your skin to some rash, I learned that the hard way back when I started riding on track, so yeah I’d recommend the one piece every time.

For someone new to track days, hoping to get into amateur racing eventually, do you think it would be good to use rider aids like are found on modern liter bikes? Or would you recommend not having them to learn better?

thank you . the points on gloves, boots did help clarify my doubts that is had...
the pit lane(understood) and ... pit wall and stuff did not get it, marking on video would be a lot more help full...

The pit wall is the wall between pit lane and the race course. There's space on the wall to stand, to enable crew members to communicate with drivers/riders on the track, flag marshals, and also media etc. But there's no buffer zone between pit wall and the fast lane in pit lane, so stepping off pit wall puts you immediately into the fast pit lane.
