X-Plane 12 VR Test HP Reverb G2 Orbx TE CA and SFD KLAX

I am getting 30 FPS through out the flight. It was smooth and didn't feel any nausea. I turn down anti aliasing so there was shimmering.

Display : XP in a single monitor (ultra wide 49") at 3840 x 1080

Anyone new to VR and XP here are some of my tips. This is around HP Reverb G2 but similar tuning can be used for Quest and other HMDs.
***In Windows mixed reality portal under headset display***
Adjust level of details : Low
Change app windows resolution : 720p
Change : Optimize for performance
Resolution : Automatic Upscaling (best performance)
***In SteamVR***
General Tab
Motion Smoothing : On
Render Resolution : 2456x2400 60% (depending on your system you can go higher or lower)
SteamVR Home : Off
***X-Plane 12 (Remember VR is all about compromise!)***
First remove/disable all luxury addon in XP12 and that includes favorite like Traffic Global, Sim heaven, RealityXP, etc :(
Run XP in 2D and bind VR/2D toggle (I use alt-v)
Change graphic setting and move all performance killer slider all to left
Texture Quality : High
Ambient Occlusion : Lowest
Renderer Resolution (FSR Supersampling): Off
Antialiasing : None
Anisotropic Filtering : 1x
Cloud Quality : Low
Shadow Quality : Aircraft Only
Rendering Distance : Low
World Object : Low
Vegetation : Low
Draw parked aircraft : uncheck

Restart X-Plane. Boot up to a isolated airport. Choose KTKI (I created this one shhh). Do airport, aircraft, livery selection all in 2D mode. When you are ready at the captain seat then switch to VR mode. Best to start with default Cessna 172
XP12 should look ugly BUT frame rate would be reasonable. From now on you can play with the sliders to find your sweet spot. Antialiasing is the biggest FPS killer out there but you need little to reduce shimmering.

Hey thanks for the vid! My G2 should be arriving within a week! (First VR) Do you find cockpit interaction easier with a mouse or thr VR controller?

VR controller for most everything. However sometimes VR controller is not detected by XP and that is when I use mouse to calibrate VR controller.
Finally Laminar has an internal VR patch they are testing. Hopefully by the time you get your G2 that patch will be release to solve few glitches.
