Hi Gareth, Loupedeck+ is USB for a couple of reasons. Firstly as the console transmits much more data that a conventional keyboard with a standard wireless connection we are almost certain to get latency and therefore lag, which would be unacceptable. (Ask anyone who has ever used a wireless Wacom tablet!!) We also need power, so without USB we would need a battery (which would need a cable to charge), would go flat at exactly the wrong moment, and more importantly complicates production, certification and shipping as well as adding cost.
Great to see an honest initial hands on overview. It looks very transparent and a case of getting used to layout. Great to see different ways of editing being experimented and I’m sure it will speed up the process. Keep up the fantastic work and I look forward to a review when you have had some time to enjoy it. 👍🏻
Hey thanks for watching mate glad you enjoyed the video I’m using it now to edit a lot of her photographs in one go and it’s really really nice to use so far loving it thanks again for the comment
Thanks that’s an awesome, open and honest review. Are you still using the LoupDeck+? Out of curiosity, any further long time thoughts, feelings or reflections on it? I’ve heard that it’s less for significantly speeding up workflow, and more of being able to intuitively edit images. Any change in whether you’d recommend it or your thoughts around it? Thanks again. Subbed 😉
I picked up one of these just because I have problems with repetitive stress in my arm. Hopefully it will solve my problem! Otherwise no way would I pay this much for one, haha.
Great handy gadget, especially when you have to edit a lot of pictures like you do. But when you don’t have to edit a lot, a mouse and keyboard works also fine.
Exactly mate I do a lot of bulk editing like I’m doing right now which this is proving amazing for.But yes just for the odd one or two images definitely easier with just a mouse and keyboard. Though I am really enjoying using it
Thanks for the video, I hoped you would do a quick video following the Instagram feed the other day. I did ask if you would do a review. I particularly liked the way you hadn't used it before and was finding your way around it. Looks fairly intuitive.
Love your posts Gareth, really helping me to get to grips with my new hobbie. So now I have the Fuji XT3, kit lens 18-55mm and 35mm 1.4, moving away from snap seed edits, I’m at a cross roads...lightroom or capture one? Which path do I take? ( using MacBook Pro)
Adding to the downsides I found the latency on the Louoedeck not super responsive with a distinct lag which made the mouse and keyboard far more responsive.
They are great for older guys like me Gareth, as I’ve got older I find using the apple mouse trickier, ive borrowed a friends and I really liked it, his was the original model, I understand the newer model is even better after a few tweaks were made to it. You picked it up easily and you made it look simply to use, as you said it’s just a case of remembering the layout.
Interesting gadget. i am still learning lightroom and this contraption does appear to make the editing process a little more fun?(maybe) and simple to edit photos. Thanks for the review.
Looks lime its more use than the LOUPEDECK CT reviewed on LMG's ShortCircuit a week or so back. that the smaller more blinky lights and cool touch wheel. Looking forward to seeing how you get on in a week or 3
Hey Gareth! nice review. have you tried the Loupedeck CT version? Its really hard to find an unbiased review elsewhere as to which to purchase. Im torn between the two.
Neat gadget. One day they're going to invent a gadget that means you can do all your editing without the need for both hands and multiple digets; oh yeah, they have. Its called a mouse! How many packs of nappies did it cost and how did you persuade your partner it was a necessary investment at this time ;-) It obviously does a good job and with a bit of practice you may even get up to mouse speed.

Can you customize a key to jump into (edit in) another program such as Topaz Denoise?
Thanks that’s an awesome, open and honest review. Are you still using the LoupDeck+?

Can you set a custom button to "Export with previous"?

No I agree they’re too expensive. They’re very good tho
I Like truthful reviews

I HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO GET A NEW OR LIKE NEW 1 STILL IN THE BOX FOR $170 WHATS YOUR THOUGHTS ON IT LIKE 2 YEARS LATER?
For a hobbyist like myself is it worth the extra money?

I can imagine you do like using it. Handy gadgets are always fun to have. It’s a mans thing I guess 😁
Ha ha definitely. Although I do admittedly get bored of them quickly. Hope I don’t with this
Loupedeck has always appealed to me but I don’t use my iMac much and mainly always editing on this iPad Pro
Great video Garth I have had mine for a few months still getting use to it but has made it a lot quicker enjoy mate

Looking forward to your next review when you have got used to it. Interesting video. Now interested in this loupedeck
Are you still using this?
Interesting ..... if you want to set a rating to an image e.g 4 .. how do you do that.
Press 4 on the ratings buttons 👍🏻😊

Am returning my LoupeDeck+. It isn't compatible with Lightroom non-classic. oh well. good idea, but i'll go back to me mouse.

Yes mate. Literally 10 mins and I was ok with it. Even tried to edit the video with it haha. Not there yet! Nice Tho.
Very interesting, if it was a bit cheaper I would definitely get one!

I think it will too. I’d never tried split toning before. But all the tools are there.

Gareth Danks if you do I’ll give you £10 for it 😂😂😂
Looks "neat" but I prefer keyboard and mouse
we shall see! :-)
Hi Gareth, your mate Adam (photo-nerds) is a great fan of Loope deck. You have obviously come into the money during lockdown.
Come into money? Why you say that?
Looks as if you enjoyed that , 😉
Haha I did mate. Sucks it’s wired else I’d be 100% on it. You ok?
Yea good mate
Give you a shout tomorrow
