I am honestly thankful for this generation where all you gotta do is youtube videos like this and it makes it easier for you to get started in this business. Thank you for sharing!
Great Video! Of all the HS I track, you're the only one who finally gave/showed some detail for these boards cause they are restrictive to access (require the user to register using MC#) and you stepped up man! Thanks a million!
Thanks for the support man. This video and the TruckStop video Ep 38 got me a lot of heat for “revealing secrets” lmao but I was in your shoes once and nobody would me how it worked... I didn’t want other guys to be in the same shoes.
Goodstuff . got a little history lesson on DAT which stands for Dail a Truck. Mid 80s Portland Oregon i used to ride my bike up to the truck stop to watch the trucks coming and going. Inside the truck stop be all these ladys chain smoking and telephone would be going off, only later did i realize that was the first dial up load board for truckers.. Which became todays DAT
If you could've negotiated that Miami to Chicago load. Based on a 2019 3500 big horn fueling standards. Your trip. Would've costed around 375 (realistically 550-600) bucks And you could've made some decent bacon off it..
Great video! I was using DAT to get my loads for a reefer trailer but today I'm thinking to switch to hotshot and I'm looking about this loads for Florida
Speaking from experience, Florida is the worst state in the nation for this business... Partly my opinion, but I don’t think many others will disagree with me
This video is pretty out dated, about 5 years old… I currently use TruckStop primarily but I do have DAT One. Im no longer in hotshot or open deck freight as im im a semi now, so it’s hard for me to gauge whatever market you’d be in, but as far as local goes, that’s going to depend on your area and what “local” is around there. If you’re in Miami, that’s not going to happen, if you’re in Chicago or Dallas, that’s a little more likely… But freight is slow right now and rates are a hit or miss.
I’m rarely in FL at all. I live in Boynton, but it’s easier for me to leave the truck in a better city and fly home than to try to leave the south east at all. Same with the north east, I won’t go there cause I won’t get out. Dropping in NJ this morning, been sitting all day on every load board. Still here.
Nice vid man, been looking for a quick demo on these boards for a while. Im in WPB as well and looking to start a business soon, any pointers you can spare with me? Thanks!
I don’t know how things work if you’re under someone else’s authority, but for me, I use a Factoring company. Not the most happy with them, but eh... I get paid pretty quickly. There are a few hundred probably more to choose from. Check out RTS.
I’ve never gotten a surcharge. Hotshot type work is usually expedited shipping. They put a price on it and that’s what they will pay, all in. You can talk to the brokers and get some extra cash sometimes. I had a few jobs paying $1.90 a mile, but the route was going to cost me $150 in tolls, so I got that $150 added and that put me over $2.10 a mile.
I’ve made an account for DAT but haven’t paid to use it, I want to know how do I setup my insurance with the brokers or do i even have to? Or can I just start booking loads after I pay for the service?
You either submit the Rate Confirmation, BOL, and an invoice to the broker and wait the 30+ days to get paid, or you hire a Factoring company, submit your Rate Confirmation and BOL to them, they buy your documents, invoice the broker themselves, and pay you within 24 hours for a small fee usually around 2.5-4% of the Rate agreed upon. They then wait that 30+ days to get paid from the broker for you.
Thanks for posting this% My question is: what else to do after you call broker and make the deal?.. I mean what paperwork and such you need to email/fax/Tex to broker? Specially if you book a load on the fly from your truck ... thank a lot
They will email you a packet to fill out. You’ll fill that out, send it back and also send a copy of your Letter of Authority or LOA, a W9, and your insurance certificate.
Great video! I was using DAT to get my loads for a reefer trailer but today I'm thinking to switch to hotshot and I'm looking about this loads for Florida
Truckstop & DAT are the biggest you’re exactly right

Thanks for the support Mario! Glad to help out! When I started, there was nothing for content.

Holy shit. That’s definitely a history lesson. Might need to use that in a video
Thank you for showing us hands-on booking of loads...
More too come on this end of the business. Stay tuned
I am just getting set up and hopefully be on the road soon. Thanks for your time making the videos
One of the best load board videos I have seen
More to come!
Great video, it’s the info I need to be reassured as I set up my hotshot service!

@@DreamInspired I know, you are right...
@@DreamInspired What is your reasoning for this? Is it that Florida is already at the end of the line or some other reason??
MAN THIS VIDEO IS GREAT
Great video man. Good work 👊
Thanks great vid. Just what i was looking for.
Thank you for the video. Is it possible to only run local loads with the DAT app?

I'm planning on entering the expiditing truck business
Thank you sir.
Are you making more coin driving the semi out of WPB?

Great video bro!! Great info

We should do lunch sometime man. I’m in Boynton off Gateway near Military
Dream Inspired that would be great man. I will message you thru IG tomorrow with my number, thanks for your time!
Sounds good man! 👍🏻
Hi, what factoring company do you use? Or recommendations? And how does it work, if I'm going to work under somone's else authority, paying. Dispatch?

Rates outta Florida always suck
Is the price the final price (if not negotiated higher) or is a fuel surcharge added in automatically?
Very helpful Thanks
Thank you for all the info.
Question.
When you see the offers, that includes FUEL SURCHARGES? or there is no such thing on hotshot?
I’ve never gotten a surcharge. Hotshot type work is usually expedited shipping. They put a price on it and that’s what they will pay, all in. I had a few jobs paying $1.90 a mile, but the route was going to cost me $150 in tolls, so I got that $150 added and that put me over $2.10 a mile.
What type of mileage are you getting with your truck??
I’ve made an account for DAT but haven’t paid to use it, I want to know how do I setup my insurance with the brokers or do i even have to? Or can I just start booking loads after I pay for the service?
I pay for the $35 package which has no triangle routing. Question is, can you triangle LTL loads ? Some boards only triangle full loads.
I’ve honestly never used the feature. I’ve been told I should get familiar with it so I’ll be checking it out soon.
@@DreamInspired definitely give it a try , if it works on LTL it will make route/Load planning a breeze.
I’m gonna take a look at it next time I’m looking for a trip out
Is that a weekly fee or monthly fee for use of the load boards??
Monthly
Is this load board for car haulers too or just central dispatch?
I’ve seen brokers post auto on here. It’s not that often but they do post every now and then.
Central Dispatch is for car haulers. And there are several load bords as well.
How do you get paid after you drop off
You either submit the Rate Confirmation, BOL, and an invoice to the broker and wait the 30+ days to get paid, or you hire a Factoring company, submit your Rate Confirmation and BOL to them, they buy your documents, invoice the broker themselves, and pay you within 24 hours for a small fee usually around 2.5-4% of the Rate agreed upon. that annoying music sure does suck
Don't like the music playing when you're trying to talk to us
