Have got to hand it to you , did hot shot trucking many years ago rates sucked then to ,just ran the east coast , the stress of it all was just to much , low paying some bounced c.o.d. checks it was enough for me , everytime I watch your videos I feel like I root for you , good luck in you adventures .
The hotshots are easier to inspect, because there are fewer components. Also they inspect more hotshots now, because there have been so many new people coming on the road with no idea what they are doing and that think the rules don't apply to them because they aren't a big truck.
I was a CVSA inspector before I started driving OTR. At that time all certified inspectors had to do 32 level 1 inspections per year to maintain certification. My main job was inspecting 850 school buses per year, but they didn’t count towards CVSA, so I would spend two weeks at the scale just doing trucks to get my 32. I did every hot shot that came through because they were easy since there was no air brake measurements to take, no tractor protection valve test, and no air psi build/drop rate tests. Just lights, tires, steering, suspension, coupler, done.
Almost 2 million miles in tractor trailers never been pulled in once, Most of my stuff was car haulers, flat bed and heavy haul. Sucks that hot shots are easy targets.
It's definitely nice to take it easy glad you didn't get a fine on your level 1 inspection that's why I went back into a van got tired of running hours of service it being harassed at the scales and missing out on extra money due to 14 hour clock or 11-hour drive time hey you got any of that steak left over I look pretty good
I do not work in this, from hotshot, but I liked being able to enter this job, for now I am only watching videos to get well informed, for when I start this business, and watching your video, I see that your truck is not dually, you can do this work with a truck that is not dually, most people use truck dually, i want to work not to cdl.
Three marine batteries 2000 watt inverter . Isolater installed from alternator to charge the 3 batteries. Remote switch to starter hooked to watch battery levels so truck will start when low without waking you up. Electric grease on all terminals so you get no corrosion
Robert, have you had an opportunity to check out Dollar General and find those throw away charcoal grills ? I love them. It comes with it's own charcoal that is easy as hell to start. Once again another great video. Take care of your riding partner. He definitely needs to drink water as well as eat. Take care and be safe. 👍🙏💕🐕🐕
Nice job Robert I really enjoy your videos and been watching since you started I bet you miss Lita not being there she helps you a Lot!! The drone is a nice extra for us to watch. Stay Safe.
DOT inspections are never fun, they slow you down and cost you money, saying it’s because Hotshots are easy in not cool! That’s no reason to be doing an inspection on you. I am glad to see I’m not the only one that spoils my dogs!
I dig those fast forward shots where your just cruising down the road. Theres a whole subsection on TH-cam of those type of videos. People driving all the way across America. Be neat if you put text on screen saying what stretch of road it is or what city/state. Keep the videos coming!
In the 90s I was into California often and we would get inspected all the time, so I was like why? The guy said he had to do 8 trucks a shift and the newer stuff was quick. At that time there were local trucks running thru with bald tires and such they just ignored! We learned to never ever go through Missouri.
Get 3 deep cycle batteries put them in the bed in a box and get an rv charge isolator, hook up fridge and inverter to these batteries. You will always have power to start the truck.
@@happypappy6371 by what, 100 pounds or so? Better than having a no start situation. Also regular batteries DON'T like being discharged that low. You end up replacing them long before you should.
@@genesmith7151 I understand what you are saying. But he is limited to 26 K and is already talking about being heavy with the A/C and generator and extra fuel tank.
Robert , Did you have to get a pre employment drug screen to non cdl , I think I asked you this before but I got a different answer today and I know you had you audit
If your truck had FedEx Ground stickers in it would they just let you roll through every weigh station ? Not saying someone should do that ,just wondering if large commercial companies get special treatment.
If he had FedEx stickers on his truck, he would have to have FedEx DOT number too, so he would be working for them. Big companies get inspected too and it depends on your CSA score. If you have a high score, you get inspected more often.
Piglet rants he make 400k....but is foolish...it's all revenue (if it's true)....let's just think..your truck has all miles in over 2 years...150k...he claims he does that in one year....fools to follow him
Hots shots are usually newbies in the business and they can always find flaws in the paperwork, sleeper birth, registered weight, you name it, just my take on it big rigs too much work checking all air brake function, also ask your self why you dont see many garbage trucks being giving a level 1same deal
Could you put a battery isolator in so your inverter will only pull from one battery? Then you will always have one full to crank from. I think RV’s do something like this?
Inspections are a money grab. Easy pickens on hotshot trucks. National safety commission has shown no decrease in accidents with trucks. That's why you see attorneys billboards everywhere
Well I can clearly see in the reflection on the windshield why you got inspected. There’s bloody knife ... kilo of white powder sugar ... and a used body part 🤦🏻♂️
I love the drone addition to your channel. The music and video are beautiful. It adds such a different dimension from the air!
The relaxing music with the drone footage adds a wonderful dimension to already great shots.

@Old timer hot shot I would suspect that since you're a "Old Timer" you probably had interesting stories to tell them to make their day go faster.

Nice drone pictures, getting good at flying it.
Great video with the drone. Wishing you lots of work and good health.
Hot Shots are easy money, Trailer battery. Nice pickle park footage, salt and pepper. Thanks for the videos
Now thats a well laid out travel center at 12:00. Wish all rest areas and truck stops were like that.

Why don't you use the drive wise app to by pass the scales ot works really good I hardly ever go into the scales
do you have better luck on DAT or Truckstop?

There's a system that will start the truck on its own when it senses the battery getting low - maybe put that on the truck !!!!!
Easy money . I bet they get lots of violations on hotshots . Lots of half assed folks driving out there .
They ever went under the hood and looked for any mods/deletes done to the truck when u get inspected?
They pop the hood to inspect hoses and belts. Don't think they can say anything about mods
What's the outlook on the job in Utah?
In one month had two level 1 and three level 3

Can you just run recaps and avoid 34 hour reset? Or is that a team thing.
I have run three weeks without a reset . Just have to keep track of your hours
