I bought a 2024 in denim blue back in August. Averaged around 1,400 miles per tank. Installed a level 2 charger and costs about $1.50 for 42 miles here in Memphis. It’s a beast in power mode!
@@alien_raider464 my guess is he may had combined miles driven just on electric motor which he might have continuously recharging within the same tank range 🤷♂️🤷♂️
Loved the way you showed all the button functions available inside the car. This is a car I want to rent for a vacation and now I know exactly how it works and how to operate it from the inside! Thank you!!!
What a gorgeous Volvo. Definitely the best looking in the segment. Beautiful lines, in a typical and recognizable Volvo way. The color combo is mind blowing. Thanks for this review! This will be definitely on my list.
I bought my 1st Volvo in 1975, the S60 of the day, we have have then ever since, as a family car, my driver car was usually a Corvette. 3 of my Corvette I had supercharged. Now at 75 i find exiting the Vette is starting to be a problem. This T8 may have to be my car next time. I did see a sharp S60 T8 Ultimate and it was nice. I did try the Chevy SS in 2015 but it was too long like the S90, When i drive my wife's car its a treat. her 2018 S60 was a T5 but I got the Polestar tune and that woke it up in Sport mode. I am thinking even at 4,400 pounds that 455 HP will be a great car to drive. I would like to see 250 HP electric Motor upgrade and 80 mile battery range. Then it's a no brainer. Thank You i had to run your audio a little slower but you were very detailed. Good Job. Dennis
Just bought one of these, Polestar optimised (Volvo option) it’s a ‘Sleeper’/ Q-car/ Wolf in sheep’s clothing, love it ! Oh & they have just upped the battery capacity, now up to 45 miles.
@@frankie.d1127 Nothing to do with Polestar optimisation (purely software changes) they upped capacity to 18.8 battery (I think), loose centre armrest deep storage, now very shallow storage under armrest, can’t see any other disadvantages.
Personally I don't care for those rims, so when I got my S60 back in late July I had them taken off and bought 4 new Volvo OEM rims that I loved the look of. So I have these 4 BRAND NEW rims sitting in my garage and I'm selling them, so if anyone wants to buy them just reach out!
I didn't realize that the recharge was so quick, I was going to go with the basic 2.0L T model but this model is now definitely on my shopping list. So many hybrids I've rented just aren't fun to drive but this looks like it checks many boxes
Very nice difference from typical German fare... thanks for thorough review. Definitely a looker. Volvo's have been plagued by reliability issues. Given that this generation has been out for a while, any information on how things are on that level? Does anything typically break?
I bought a 2024 s60 recharge ultimate black edition last November. Traded in my Mercedes AMG for it and miss my Mercedes every day. Volvo is nowhere as luxurious as Mercedes in any way, but I save a decent amount on gas so I guess that’s the only good thing…
👍🏻👍🏻Nice car nice review. I should have learned to play the guitar I should have learned to bang them drums. I could have afforded to drive a Volvo. But I can still cast a shadow and that makes for a good day no matter what's in the garage.
Great video Kenny. I agree with you that I also feel hybrids are the way to go for the future. I used to know so much about cars but they have evolved so much in the last decade. I have a question..do you have to charge the EV battery to drive this car or can you just drive it with just the gas engine? Thanks and keep up the great work!
You don’t “have” to charge it. You even get the full power as far as I know. It reserves some for that type of thing from the regen braking. You just aren’t going to save as much on fuel and potentially it might not be so great for the battery as the years go by.
Thank you for the info! I wonder why manufacturers are choosing this method intstead of the Prius style hybrid? Oh well thanks so much for the info!@@CarSteve
@@jameswalsh6131 I’m not sure why they choose this, but because some days I don’t go over 40 miles, I have 1200 miles on my current tank with 1/4 tank left. That does make it compelling.
@@703Speed Oh I can tell you exactly why, as someone who actually has one of these cars. Plug-in Hybrids are really just a tough sell in general, because unless you do a lot of research or understand cars a lot, it's very easy to miss all the benefits you get from them. It's the same reason McDonalds' 1/3 lbs. burger sold less than the 1/4 lbs. burger because people thought it was smaller; those same kind of people are seeing the 41 miles of full electric and saying it's "not enough" without really looking into it. Honestly, this is probably the best implementation of the plug-in hybrid system to date. You get everything; enough electric range that with smart battery management can benefit even the longest daily commute. Removing any range anxiety of both an electric or even gas car (seriously, no more worrying about getting gas before you get home when you're guaranteed another 41 miles overnight). And all the performance most people would want at a price that is seriously unheard of for what you get. If you don't have a place you can charge overnight though is really the only reason I can say the car might not be worth it.
2.0 engine. Shame that Volvo dosn't make great 5 cyl. engines. Great review as always. I wish You Merry Christmas, good health and a lot more cars/trucks for review for us in New Year. Greetings
Had one for two weeks now. First Volvo. If you're in the market, this a thrill to have. I start each morning with a full battery and haven't bought gas yet. I'm sitting at about half a tank of gas (power mode is a bit addicting).
Don't know much about hybrids. Why do you need a charging port if Hybrids recharge on gas? The Hybrid mode has more power than the "Power" mode, that seems odd? The 2024 doesn't qualify for any rebates?
@@RainZen19 it does. That’s why they call it a study. An individual car may have five problems. Too bad you got one of them, it happens. But maybe three other of that model had no problems. Another one had one problem. So you average it out.
Volvo are the best euro car out of all of them. The Old Red block engine of the 1980's can last forever. The 940 & 960, s90, s70 of the 1990's are good too. I'm hearing solid performance and reliability reviews on the current Volvos. The s60's are really hard to beat. With this said, always wait two years before buying a new updated version of any car. There will be some bugs to work out, but mostly minor in Volvos case because they've been building the s60 for some time now.
